Abstract
The BP unsaturated unit is a very attractive functional group as it provides novel reactivity and unique physical properties. Nonetheless, applications remain limited so far due to the bulky nature of B/P-protecting groups, required to prevent oligomerization. Herein, we report the synthesis and isolation of a N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-stabilized phosphaborene, bearing a trimethylsilyl (TMS) functionality at the P-terminal, as a room-temperature-stable crystalline solid accessible via facile NHC-induced trimethylsilyl chloride (TMSCl) elimination from its phosphinoborane precursor. This phosphaborene compound, bearing a genuine B=P bond, exhibits a remarkable ability for undergoing P-centre metathesis reactions, which allows the isolation of a series of unprecedented phosphaborenes. X-ray crystallographic analysis, UV/Vis spectroscopy, and DFT calculations provide insights into the B=P bonding situation.

Abstract
3H‐Phosphaallenes, R−P=C=C(H)C−R’ (3), are accessible in a multigram scale on a new and facile route and show a fascinating chemical reactivity. BH3(SMe2) and 3 a (R=Mes*, R’=tBu) afforded by hydroboration of the C=C bonds of two phosphaallene molecules an unprecedented borane (7) with the B atom bound to two P=C double bonds. This compound represents a new FLP based on a B and two P atoms. The increased Lewis acidity of the B atom led to a different reaction course upon treatment of 3 a with H2B‐C6F5(SMe2). Hydroboration of a C=C bond of a first phosphaallene is followed in a typical FLP reaction by the coordination of a second phosphaallene molecule via B−C and P−B bond formation to yield a BP2C2 heterocycle (8). Its B−P bond is short and the B‐bound P atom has a planar surrounding. Treatment of 3 a with tBuLi resulted in deprotonation of the β‐C atom of the phosphaallene (9). The Li atom is bound to the P atom as demonstrated by crystal structure determination, quantum chemical calculations and reactions with HCl, Cl‐SiMe3 or Cl‐PtBu2. The thermally unstable phosphaallene Ph−P=C=C(H)‐tBu gave a unique trimeric secondary product by P−P, P−C and C−C bond formation. It contains a P2C4 heterocycle and was isolated as a W(CO)4 complex with two P atoms coordinated to W (15).

Abstract
Treatment of Mes*P=C(Si(CH3)3)Br with CH2=CHMgBr in the presence of Pd(0) affords 1-phosphabutadiene Mes*P=C(Si(CH3)3)–CH=CH2 (1) selectively as the Z isomer. Remarkably, treatment of Z-1 with n-BuLi (0.1 equiv.) resulted in quantitative formation of E-1. The exact role of the n-BuLi is unknown; however, it appears to be required to promote the isomerization in the absence of light. The isomerization of Z-1 to E-1 was also mediated by sunlight with the reaction mixture consisting of a ca. 1:9 ratio of Z-1 to E-1. DFT calculations were consistent with the thermodynamic favorability of the isomerization of Z-1 to E-1.

Abstract
[FeFe]-hydrogenases have attracted research for more than twenty years as paragons for the design of new catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The bridging dithiolate comprising a secondary amine as bridgehead is the key element for the reactivity of native [FeFe]-hydrogenases and was therefore the midpoint of hundreds of biomimetic hydrogenase models. However, within those mimics, phosphorous is barely seen as a central element in the azadithiolato bridge despite being the direct heavier homologue of nitrogen. We herein synthesized three new phosphorous based [FeFe]-hydrogenase models by reacting dithiols (HSCH2)2P(O)R (R = Me, OEt, OPh) with Fe3(CO)12. All synthesized mimics show catalytic reactivity regarding HER and change their mechanisms depending on the strength of the used acid. In all presented mimics, the oxide is the center of reactivity, independent of the nature of the bridgehead. However, the phosphorous atom might be reduced by the methods we present herein to alter the reactivity of the model compounds towards protons and oxygen.

Abstract
The novel cyaphide complex trans-[Ru(dppe)2Me(C≡P)] is obtained in excellent yields and exhibits the first instance of controlled reactivity of any terminal cyaphide complex. Its treatment with ZnX2/PPh3 effects selective metathesis of the methyl moiety to afford the unprecedented halocyaphide complexes trans-[Ru(dppe)2(X)(C≡P)] (X = Cl, Br, I), which are structurally characterized (X = Cl, Br). Exemplified with the trans-bromide, these compounds are susceptible to substitution of the halides by nucleophilic reagents-illustrated with Me2Mg-and also readily undergo halide abstraction by TlOTf to afford the first hypocoordinate cyaphide complex, viz., [Ru(dppe)2(C≡P)]·OTf, which is isolable in bulk and exhibits good stability. NMR spectroscopic and crystallographic data reveal the latter to adopt a square-pyramidal geometry with an accessible coordinate vacancy, which is susceptible to the addition of nucleophiles. This is illustrated analytically by reactions with Me2Mg and LiC≡CPh and with its facile bulk carbonylation to afford trans-[Ru(dppe)2(CO)(C≡P)]+.

Abstract
The phosphorus analogues of cyclopentadienone, tricyclopentanone, and housene were accessed from bis(cyclopropenyl)diphosphetanedione 3, which was prepared by mixing 1,2,3-tris-tert-butylcyclopropenium tetrafluoroborate (1) and sodium phosphaethynolate [Na(OCP)(dioxane)n ]. While photolysis of 3 results in decarbonylation, yielding bis(cyclopropenyl)diphosphene 4 and after rearrangement diphosphahousene 5, thermolysis of 3 leads to phosphatricyclo[2.1.0.0]pentanone 7. Metal-mediated valence isomerization of 7 and subsequent demetalation provides access to phosphacyclopentadienone 12.

Phosphorus as a carbon copy and as a photocopy: New conjugated materials featuring multiply bonded phosphorus. PURE APPL CHEM 2013. Abstract
Phosphaalkenes (RP=CR2) and diphosphenes (RP=PR) are main group analogues of alkenes (R2C=CR2). Molecules featuring such multiply bonded phosphorus functionalities often display structural features and chemical reactivities that mimic their purely organic counterparts, lending credence to the claim that these compounds are “carbon copies”. We have been expanding this analogy to include oligomers and polymers with extended conjugation that directly involve P=C and P=P units. Many of these materials, however, display little or no photoluminescence (PL). This article summarizes our efforts to understand P=C and P=P photobehavior and to produce materials having significant PL that mimic or “photocopy” the PL properties of the phosphorus-free systems. Recent materials based on benzoxaphospholes (BOPs), benzobisoxaphospholes (BBOPs), and higher analogues having significant fluorescence quantum yields are covered.

Abstract
DFT calculations have been performed on the derivatives of formula CH₂OP₂ to determine their total energy, the relative energy between the isomers and their geometry. Among compounds with a P-C-P linkage, the most stable one is the 2-hydroxy-1,2-diphosphirene II.1, a three-membered heterocycle with a P=C unsaturation. The phosphavinylidene(oxo)phosphorane HP=C=P(O)H IV.5 (which has the same skeleton as the experimentally obtained Mes*P=C=P(O)Mes*) lies 36.30 kcal mol⁻¹ above it. The least stable compounds are carbenes; the singlet carbenes are more stable than the triplet ones.
