Abstract
Redox-neutral carbon-carbon (C-C) bond activation and functionalization strategies of cyclopropanols that give metallo homoenolate have offered merits to construct a range of useful β-functionalized ketones in an inverse-polarity fashion. Discovery and identification of oxidative C-C activation reactions of cyclopropanols that generate metallo enolate-homoenolate would provide an opportunity to afford α,β-difunctionalized ketones. We report catalytic, net oxidative C-C activation, and silylation of cyclopropanols with traceless acetal directing groups under consecutive Ir and Rh catalysis in regio-, stereo-, and chemo-selective fashion. In detail, Ir-catalyzed hydrosilylation of cyclopropyl acetates provides the acetal directing group in quantitative yield. Rh-catalyzed proximal C-C silylation of the resulting cyclopropyl silyl acetal produces the metallo enolate-homoenolate equivalent, dioxasilepine, which uniquely holds an interconnected β-silyl moiety and Z-vinyl acetal. Upon sequential treatment of a silaphile that removes the acetal directing group and electrophile, the seven-membered silicon-containing heterocycle, serving as the ketone α,β-dianion equivalent, delivers α,β-difunctionalized ketones. Scope of the hitherto unexplored reactivity of cyclopropanols toward net oxidative C-C silylation and the versatility of the resulting dioxasilepines were demonstrated. These include late-stage, net oxidative C-C silylation of biologically relevant molecules and facile production of a range of α,β-difunctionalized ketones. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that the C-C activation harnessing the electron-rich Wilkinson-type catalyst is likely the turnover-determining step and a Rh-π interaction is the key to the efficient metal insertion to the proximal C-C bond in cyclopropanols.

Abstract
A titanium(IV)-mediated ring-opening/dehydroxylative cross-coupling of diaryl-substituted methanols with a cyclopropanol derivative was developed. The reactions proceeded efficiently to provide synthetically useful γ,γ-diaryl esters in moderate to good yields, which could be applied to the functionalization of complex molecules derived from bioactive fenofibrate and isoxepac and the synthesis of a precursor of Zoloft.

Abstract
The palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of cyclopropanol-derived ketone homoenolates with benzyl chlorides is reported. This reaction proceeds in high yields with electron-neutral and electron-rich benzyl chlorides; however, yields are low with electron-poor benzyl chlorides. In addition, a range of cyclopropanols can be coupled in good yields. The reaction can be conducted with a low catalyst loading (1% Pd) and on a gram scale without reduction in yield.

Abstract
An efficient palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of indium homoenolate with aryl halide is described. The reactions proceeded efficiently in DMA at 100 °C to afford the desired products of β-aryl ketones in moderate to good yields. Various important functional groups including COR, COOR, CHO, CN, OH, and NO(2) can be well tolerated in the protocol.

Abstract
Homoenolate, a species containing anionic carbon beta to a carbonyl group or a moiety that can be transformed into a carbonyl group, is a potential three carbon synthon. Recent introduction of a protocol for the generation of homoenolate directly from enals by NHC (nucleophilic heterocyclic carbene) catalysis has made it possible to explore the synthetic utility of this unique reactive intermediate. The versatility of NHC-bound homoenolate is illustrated by its annulation with various carbonyl compounds leading to gamma-butyrolactones, spiro-gamma-butyrolactones, and delta-lactones. Interception of homoenolate with imines afforded gamma-lactams and bicyclic beta-lactams. Formation of cyclopentenes and spirocyclopentanones respectively by reaction with enones and dienones is also noteworthy. This tutorial review focuses on these and other types of reactions which attest to the synthetic potential of NHC-bound homoenolates in organic synthesis.

Abstract
A facile stereoselective synthesis of (Z)- and (E)-allyl sulfides has been accomplished from Morita-Baylis-Hillman acetates in one-pot by treatment with benzene thiol in the presence of catalytic amounts of 15% aqueous NaOH and TBAI in DMSO at room temperature. The method has been applied for the synthesis of (Z)-3-(4-methoxybenzylidene)thiochroman-4-one, a potent antifungal compound.

Abstract
The synthesis of tertiary beta-hydroxy amides from acylsilanes, acetamides, and electrophiles is described. The addition of amide enolates to acylsilanes generates beta-silyloxy homoenolate reactivity by undergoing a 1,2-Brook rearrangement. These unique nucleophiles formed in situ can then undergo smooth addition to alkyl halides, aldehydes, and ketones. Enolates derived from amides are crucial for the success of this process since ketone enolates suffer from internal return of the beta-carbanion onto the carbonyl carbon. The use of optically active amide enolates delivers beta-hydroxy amide products with good levels of diastereoselectivity (>/=10:1).
