Abstract
A novel visible-light-induced cascade radical cyclization reaction of 3-cyano-4-aryl-1,4-dihydropyridines for the construction of 3,12-diazatetracyclododecane-diene derivatives is reported for the first time. In the presence of 410 nm blue LED lamp as the light source and ethanol as the solvent, the reactions proceed smoothly to afford photocyclization products in good yields. The process is carried out through the breaking of original C═C double bonds and the formation of three new single bonds in one pot and proved to be able to tolerate different substituents.

Abstract
Hantzsch esters (HEs) served as two-carbon partners in a copper(I)-catalyzed enantioselective [3 + 2] annulation with racemic 2-(hetero)aryl-N-sulfonyl aziridines via kinetic resolution to provide pyrrolo[2,3-b]tetrahydropyridines containing multiple contiguous stereogenic centers including all-carbon quaternary centers in excellent yields and enantiopurities and moderate-to-excellent diastereoselectivities. Mainly dependent upon the structures of the aziridines, a competitive hydrogenolysis process with HEs as the hydrogen source was also observed in some cases.

Abstract
A concise and efficient photocatalytic C–C coupling of 1-benzyl-3-cyano-1, 4-dihydropyridine for synthesis of 1,1′-dibenzyl-3, 3′-dicyano-1,1′,4,4′-tetrahydro-4, 4′-bipyridine is described. The reporter system provides a novel technique that facilitates synthesis of C–C coupling derivatives without addition of transition metals and oxidants or other additives. A plausible synthetic pathway is proposed, and the coupling product was characterized via nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H and 13C NMR), high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-HRMS) and X-ray analyses.

Abstract
Irradiation of an acetonitrile solution of 4-aryl-3,5-dibenzoyl-1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives 1a–c and maleimides 2a–c using medium pressure Hg-arc lamp (λ > 290) nm afforded three different cycloadducts 4, 5, 6 in addition to the oxidation products 3. These results indicate that compounds 1a–c undergoes intermolecular cycloaddition reaction through three biradical intermediates and behave photochemically different than those reported previously for the analogous 3,5-diacetyl and 3,5-dicarboxylic acid derivatives. The present work also offers simple access to novel tricyclic and tetracyclic nitrogen heterocyclic ring systems of potential biological and synthetic applications. The structure of the photoproducts was established spectroscopically and by single crystal X-ray crystallography.

Abstract
Series of novel N-acyloxy-1,4-dihydropyridines have been synthesized and evaluated as P-glycoprotein inhibitors in an in vitro assay to estimate their potential to act as multidrug resistance modulators in cancer cells. Structure-activity relationships are discussed and prove a significant and regiospecific influence of certain functional groups.

Abstract
Photochemical behavior of some 1,4-dihydropyridines has been investigated in the solid state. Whereas upon irradiation of 1,4-dihydropyridines in solution phase, their photo-oxidation and formation of pyridine derivatives have been observed, irradiation of these compounds in the solid state decreases their light sensitivity. In many cases photo-oxidation has been observed only in very low yields.
