Abstract
Understanding mechanistic details of the nickel-catalyzed coupling reactions of Csp3 alcohol derivatives is key to developing selective reactions of this widely prevalent functional group. In this manuscript, we utilize a combination of experimental data and DFT studies to define the key intermediates, stereochemical outcome, and competing pathways of a nickel-catalyzed cross-electrophile coupling reaction of 1,3-dimesylates. Stereospecific formation of a 1,3-diiodide intermediate is achieved in situ by the Grignard reagent. The overall stereoablative stereochemical outcome is due to a nickel-catalyzed halogen atom abstraction with a radical rebound that is slower than epimerization of the alkyl radical. Finally, lifetimes of this alkyl radical intermediate are compared to radical clocks to enhance the understanding of the lifetime of the secondary alkyl radical.

Abstract
An operationally simple and broadly applicable novel cyclopropanation of styrenes using gem-diiodomethyl carbonyl reagents has been developed. Visible-light triggered the photoinduced generation of iodomethyl carbonyl radicals, able to cyclopropanate a wide array of styrenes with excellent chemoselectivity and functional group tolerance. To highlight the utility of our photocyclopropanation, we demonstrated the late-stage functionalization of biomolecule derivatives.

Abstract
For the first time, α-formyldiazoacetates have been successfully applied for the asymmetric cyclopropanation of alkenes via Co(ii)-based metalloradical catalysis. The cobalt(ii) complex of the D2-symmetric chiral amidoporphyrin [Co(3,5-Di t Bu-ChenPhyrin)] is an effective metalloradical catalyst that can activate α-formyldiazoacetates to cyclopropanate both aromatic and aliphatic olefins with varied electronic properties, affording the synthetically useful 1,1-cyclopropaneformylesters in high yields with both high diastereo- and enantioselectivity.

Abstract
The first examples of manipulating stereocontrol solely by reaction topography in radical cyclizations starting from acyclic precursors are reported. The kinetic model for acyclic compound stereoselection is verified experimentally by conducting a series of radical cyclizations of 1,3-dihalo-2-(1-phenyl-3-butynyl)propanes with triphenyltin hydride and measuring the ratios of the products. Monohalide intermediates are observed for the first time, and evidence that bromide- and iodide-substituted radicals have different cyclization rate constants is provided.
