Abstract
Herein, we report a Rh(III)-catalyzed C4-selective activation of indoles by using iodonium ylides as carbene precursors. This protocol proceeded under redox neutral reaction conditions and provided important coupling products with good tolerance of functional groups and high yields. In addition, one-pot synthesis and scale-up and mechanistic studies were also conducted.

Abstract
We have identified and extensively investigated the photochemical activation and reaction of a hydroxyquinone-derived phenyliodonium ylide in the presence of visible light using experiment and theory. These studies revealed that in its photoexcited state this iodonium is capable of facilitating a range of single-electron transfer (SET) processes, including hydrogen atom transfer (HAT), a Povarov-type reaction, and atom-transfer radical addition chemistry. Where possible, we have employed density functional theory (DFT) to develop a more complete understanding of these photoinduced synthetic transformations.

Abstract
A facile and highly chemoselective synthesis of doubly activated cyclopropanes is reported where mixtures of alkenes and β-dicarbonyl-derived iodonium ylides are irradiated with light from blue LEDs. This metal-free synthesis gives cyclopropanes in yields up to 96 %, is operative with cyclic and acyclic ylides, and proceeds with a variety of electronically-diverse alkenes. Computational analysis explains the high selectivity observed, which derives from exclusive HOMO to LUMO excitation, instead of free carbene generation. The procedure is operationally simple, uses no photocatalyst, and provides access in one step to important building blocks for complex molecule synthesis.

Abstract
Reacting Wittig reagents and the hypervalent iodine reagent iodosotoluene, in the presence of 10 mol% Cu(tfacac)2 and 5 equiv. of alkene, results in a novel cyclopropanation reaction. The reagent combination is believed to generate a transient monocarbonyl iodonium ylide (MCIY) in situ, which can be intercepted by the copper catalyst to give a metallocarbene. Both ester and ketone derived phosphoranes can be used, as can styrenyl and non-styrenyl alkenes, which provides cyclopropanes in yields up to 81%.

Abstract
A novel pentafluorobenzenesulfonyl hypervalent iodonium ylide 3 was designed and synthesized as a useful tool for the preparation of sulfur pentafluorophenyl compounds containing a C6F5S or C6F5SO2 unit. Electrophilic pentafluorophenylthiolation of enamines, formal [3+2] cycloaddition reaction of nitriles and alkynes, and intramolecular SNAr cyclization were achieved using iodonium ylide 3. The fluoro-click reaction was also demonstrated using one of the products via an intermolecular SNAr reaction with heterocentered nucleophiles.

Abstract
In the presence of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TfOH) or bis(trifluoromethane-sulfonyl)imide (Tf₂NH), iodosobenzene (PhI=O) efficiently promoted the reactions of dicarbonyl compounds as well as monocarbonyl compounds with nitriles to give 2,4-disubstituted and 2,4,5-trisubstituted oxazole in a single step under the mild conditions.
