Abstract
An efficient and selective transformation of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl carbonyls into ureas/amides with amines is reported. This protocol allows the selective cleavage of the C-C bond of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl carbonyls under transition metal-free and oxidant-free conditions, which is in contrast to the analogous C-F or C-CF3 bond functionalization. This reaction reveals the unexplored reactivity of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl carbonyls and exhibits a broad substrate range and good functional group tolerance.

Abstract
The noxious effects from exposure to toxic inhalation hazards (TIHs, such as isocyanates, chlorine, etc.) are known to be triggered by the activation of transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) ion channel. Antagonists of TRPA1 have shown near complete attenuation of the noxious effects from TIH exposure. One of the TRPA1 antagonists, (1E,3E)-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-methyl-1-pentene-3-one oxime (A-967079), has shown impressive efficacy, high selectivity, high potency, and oral bioavailability. Although a validated method to quantify A-967079 in biological matrices is vital for the further development of A-967079 as a therapeutic agent, no method for its analysis from any matrix is currently available. Hence, a rapid and simple HPLC-MS/MS method was developed and validated to quantify A-967079 in rabbit plasma. The method presented here features an excellent LOD of 25 nM and a wide linear range (0.05-200 μM), with good accuracy and precision (100 ± 10.5% and <14.2% relative standard deviation, respectively). The stability of A-967079 in plasma was excellent for most of the storage conditions evaluated. The method was successfully applied to determine A-967079 from treated animals and it may facilitate the development of this TRPA1 antagonist as a therapeutic agent against the noxious effects of TIH exposure.

Abstract
An efficient, clean and one-pot multicomponent synthesis of divers kind of new functionalized aminoalkyl naphthol and amidoalkyl naphthol derivatives via tandem condensation reaction of 2-naphthol, aromatic aldehydes and 5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine/5-aryl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amines urea/acetamide under solvent-free conditions is reported. Following this protocol, it was possible to synthesize novel 1-(((5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)amino)(aryl)methyl)naphthalen-2-ol, 1-(aryl((5-aryl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)amino)methyl)naphthalen-2-ol and amidoalkyl naphthol derivatives. This protocol includes some salient features, such as the use of triethylammonium hydrogen sulfate ([Et3NH][HSO4]) ionic liquid as a green, clean and reusable catalyst, no column chromatographic separation, high atom economy, good yields, low cost and finally no need for a complex procedure.

Abstract
Bromination of alkenes has been conducted in a room temperature ionic liquid {[bmim]+ CCl3COO– (1–butyl–3–methylimidazolium trichloroacetate)} involving the oxidation of NaBr by hydrogen peroxide with no catalyst. Comparatively fast reactions, good yields and the atom economic nature make this environmentally benign reaction an appealing procedure for alkene and alkyne bromination.

Abstract
Inexpensive Brønsted acidic ionic liquids, suitable for industrial-scale catalysis, are reported as reaction media and catalysts for the Beckmann rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime to ϵ-caprolactam. A family of protic ionic liquids was synthesised from nitrogen bases (1-methylimidazole, N,N,N-triethylamine, N-methylpyrrolidine, 2-picoline) and sulfuric acid by proton transfer in a simple, inexpensive, solvent-free, one-step process. The density, viscosity, conductivity, and ionicity of the synthesised ionic liquids were determined. Variation in the molar ratio of sulfuric acid (χH2SO4=0.67 and 0.75) was used to tune the acidity of these protic ionic liquids, which showed extremely high catalytic activity in the Beckmann rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime to ϵ-caprolactam. Both the structure of the cation and the sulfuric acid molar ratio strongly affect the rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime. The most active ionic liquid, based on the 1-metyhylimidazolium cation, χH2SO4=0.75, afforded high conversion of oxime combined with very good selectivity under mild conditions (110°C, 15min). The product could be extracted from the reaction mixture, eliminating the need for the neutralisation step that exists in conventional processes. The combination of affordable catalyst and process advantages leads to a greener alternative, competitive against existent industrial applications.

Abstract
The recent development in the use of functionalized ionic liquids as both reaction media and promoters is reviewed. Ionic liquids designed with special functionality can enhance the reaction rate, selectivity, and productivity in various chemical reactions. In this context, some important chemical reactions involving C–C, C–O, C–N, and C–S bond formation in functionalized ionic liquids are discussed. These functionalized ionic liquids were found to provide distinct advantages over conventional organic solvents in these catalytic reactions.

Abstract
An efficient one-pot synthesis of fused pyridine derivatives (including pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine and pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine) by three-component reaction of aldehyde, acyl acetonitrile, and electron-rich amino heterocycles (including aminopyrazole and aminouracils) in ionic liquid is reported. This new protocol has the advantages of environmental friendliness, higher yields, shorter reaction times, and convenient operation.

Abstract
Brønsted-acidic ionic liquids that bear a sulfonic acid group, known as Forbes acids, show a good catalytic activity for the Beckmann rearrangement, used to prepare ε-caprolactam, which is a precursor of Nylon 6. The activity essentially stems from the acidity of the sulfonic acid group. Although these task specific ionic liquids suffer from a high viscosity, this drawback can be circumvented at higher temperatures. A combination of the hydrogen sulfate anion and the sulfonic acid group of the cation is needed to obtain the rearrangement product rapidly under mild conditions. When using an excess of ionic liquid, we postulate that the internal pressure of the ionic medium, generated by the high viscosity and the high number of hydrogen-bonds, is strong enough to contribute to a decrease of the thermodynamic barrier. In accordance with the "Principles of Green Chemistry," we have developed a synthesis of ε-caprolactam that requires no additional chemicals except cyclohexanone oxime and the reusable TSIL.
