Giant postauricular fibrolipoma

Fibrolipoma belongs to the benign tumor variant of lipoma characterized by the presence of adipose tissue and large volume of fibrous tissue. Our patient who was a 50-year-old mother of 2 children presented with a recurrent pedunculated large lump from right postauricular region of 13 years' duration. She underwent en mass excision of the lump under general anesthesia with primary closure of surgical wound. The tumor weighed 2.55 kg, and histopathologic examination revealed fibrolipoma. She was followed up for 6 months and found no recurrence.

Giant esophageal lipoma

A case of a giant esophageal pedunculated lipoma diagnosed in a 67-year-old male patient with recent onset of dysphagia is reported. Following the initial endoscopic and radiologic evaluation, the diagnosis was suspected by endo-ultrasonography and confirmed by histopathology. The treatment consisted of an esophagotomy with submucosal resection, through a left sided cervical incision. The review of the literature confirmed the rarity of this neoplasm, and the difficulty of a correct preoperative diagnosis, since a possible progression to squamous carcinoma has been demonstrated.

Oral fibrolipoma-a rare histological entity: report of 3 cases and review of literature

Lipomas are rare benign soft tissue mesenchymal neoplasms in the oral cavity, representing 1% of all benign oral tumors. Fibrolipoma (FL), an uncommon, histological variant of the classic lipoma, mostly affects the buccal mucosa. Very few cases of FL have been reported in the English literature. To the best of our knowledge a review of the English literature showed 33 cases of FL affecting the oral cavity.The diagnosis and differentiation of FL with clinically similar lesions such as fibroma, mucocele and pleomorphic adenoma are very essential for a correct treatment plan and complete follow-up. Due to the rarity of oral cavity fibrolipoma reports, three cases and a review of literature is presented here.

Giant Fibrolipoma in the Mediastinum: An Unusual Case

A 50-year-old man presented with a middle and posterior mediastinal mass on chest radiograph and computed tomography. Surgical exploration revealed a large dumbbell-shaped lipomatous lesion. Histologic examination confirmed this to be a fibrolipoma. This is the first reported case of fibrolipoma in the mediastinum but outside of the esophagus.
