Abstract
A wide range of platinum(0)-η2-(E)-1,2-ditosylethene complexes bearing isocyanide, phosphine and N-heterocyclic carbene ancillary ligands have been prepared with high yields and selectivity. All the novel products underwent thorough characterization using spectroscopic techniques, including NMR and FT-IR analyses. Additionally, for some compounds, the solid-state structures were elucidated through X-ray diffractometry. The synthesized complexes were successively evaluated for their potential as anticancer agents against two ovarian cancer cell lines (A2780 and A2780cis) and one breast cancer cell line (MDA-MB-231). The majority of the compounds displayed promising cytotoxicity within the micromolar range against A2780 and MDA-MB-231 cells, with IC50 values comparable to or even surpassing those of cisplatin. However, only a subset of compounds was cytotoxic against cisplatin-resistant cancer cells (A2780cis). Furthermore, the assessment of antiproliferative activity on MRC-5 normal cells revealed certain compounds to exhibit in vitro selectivity. Notably, complexes 3d, 6a and 6b showed low cytotoxicity towards normal cells (IC50 > 100 µM) while concurrently displaying potent cytotoxicity against cancer cells.

Abstract
Platinum-based catalysts with Cl- , OH- , O2- and H2 O ligands, are involved in many industrial processes. Their final chemical properties are impacted by calcination and reduction applied during the preparation and activation steps. We investigate their stability under these reactive conditions with density functional theory (DFT). We benchmark various functionals (PBE-dDsC, optPBE, B3LYP, HSE06, PBE0, TPSS, RTPSS and SCAN) against ACFDT-RPA. PBE-dDsC is well adapted, although hybrid functionals are more accurate for redox reactions. Thermodynamic phase diagrams are determined by computing the chemical potential of the species as a function of temperature and partial pressures of H2 O, HCl, O2 and H2 . The stability and nature of the Pt species are highly sensitive to the activation conditions. Under O2 , high temperatures favour PtO2 while under H2 , platinum is easily reduced to Pt(0). Chlorine modifies the coordination sphere of platinum during calcination by stabilizing PtCl4 and shifts the reduction of platinum to higher temperatures under H2 .

Abstract
A series of Pd(II) (PdLOMe, PdLOHex) and Pt(II) (PtLOMe, PtLOHex) complexes bearing tetradentate ligands as dianionic luminophores were synthesized. Hence, the cyclometallating chelators were alternatively decorated with two n-hexyloxy (LOHex) or two methoxy (LOMe) moieties to promote crystallization and processability. The new compounds were unambiguously characterized by means of multiple NMR spectroscopies and mass spectrometry as well as by single crystal X-ray diffractometric analysis (PtLOMe and PdLOMe). Steady state and time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopic studies were carried out in crystalline phases, in fluid solutions at room temperature, in frozen glassy matrices at 77 K and in a flexible polymeric matrix (PMMA). PtLOMe presents an intriguing mechanochromism resulting from the responsive metal-metal interactions involving adjacent monomeric units. Incorporation of the Pd(II) complexes into the polymeric matrix boosts their photophysical properties by stiffening of the coordination environment while reducing non-radiative deactivation pathways mediated by dissociative metal-centred states, which also become thermally inaccessible at 77 K.

Abstract
We report an approach to rotaxanes in which the metal ion of a cyclometallated PtII luminophore is embedded in the space created by the mechanical bond. Our results show that the interlocked ligand environment stabilises a normally labile PtII–triazole bond against displacement by competing ligands and that the crowded environment of the mechanical bond retards oxidation of the PtII centre, without perturbing the photophysical properties of the complex. When an additional pyridyl binding site is included in the axle, the luminescence of the PtII centre is quenched, an effect that can be selectively reversed by the binding of AgI. Our results suggest that readily available interlocked metal-based phosphors can be designed to be stimuli responsive and have advantages as stabilised triplet harvesting dopants for device applications. We report an approach to interlocked PtII luminophores in which the mechanical bond stabilises the coordination environment of the embedded metal ion.![]()

Abstract
The reaction of the cyclic peroxides cyclobutane malonoyl peroxide and cyclopentane malonoyl peroxide to dimethylplatinum(II) complexes with the bidentate nitrogen donor ligand 4,4′-di-t-butyl-2,2′-bipyridine (bubpy) gave a mixture of the products of cis and trans oxidative addition, [PtMe2{(O2C)2C(C3H6)}(bubpy)] and [PtMe2{(O2C)2C(C4H8)}(bubpy)], respectively. The cis isomers exist with a chelating dicarboxylate ligand, forming a six-membered ring, while the trans isomers are thought to exist as oligomers, which may react with water or solvent to give complexes containing a monodentate dicarboxylate ligand. Equilibration of the product of cis oxidative addition, cis-[PtMe2{(O2C)2C(C3H6)}(bubpy)], with oxalic or phthalic acid to give equilibria with the oxalate cis-[PtMe2(O4C2)(bubpy)] or phthalate cis-[PtMe2{(O2C)2C6H4}(bubpy)] derivative, respectively, indicated the expected sequence of chelate stability oxalate > cyclobutane malonate > phthalate.

Abstract
Complexes (R3P)2PtF2 were prepared by reaction of the corresponding diiodo precursors with AgF in dichloromethane. The intermediate formation of trans- and cis-(R3P)2Pt(I)F was also observed. All fluoro complexes demonstrate a strong preference for the cis-configuration (R = Ph or Et) unless a bulky phosphine ligand is used (R = i-Pr), in which case the trans complex was observed. The Pt(IV) difluoro compounds (R3P)2Ar2PtF2 were obtained by reacting the Pt(II) diaryl precursors with XeF2. The fluoro ligands are located in the trans-position relative to the aryl groups in the overall octahedral environment. The representative Pt(II) and Pt(IV) difluoro complexes were characterized by X-ray crystallography. All fluoro compounds react rapidly with chlorotrimethylsilane to give the corresponding chloro complexes. The Pt(IV) difluorides are remarkably stable in the C-C reductive elimination reaction, relative to their dichloro analogs which reductively eliminate diaryl within several hours at 45 degrees C in N-methylpyrrolidone. It was found that phosphine dissociation from the octahedral Pt(IV) complex is essential for the reductive elimination reaction to take place, the difluoro complex being kinetically stable even at 60 degrees C.

Abstract
Symmetrical bis-aryl platinum complexes (DPPF)Pt(C(6)H(4)-4-R)(2) (R = NMe(2), OMe, CH(3), H, Cl, CF(3)) and electronically unsymmetrical bis-aryl platinum complexes (DPPF)Pt(C(6)H(4)-4-R)(C(6)H(4)-4-X) (R = CH(3), X = NMe(2), OMe, H, Cl, F, CF(3); R = OMe, X = NMe(2), H, Cl, F, CF(3); R = CF(3), X = H, Cl, NMe(2); and R = NMe(2), X = H, Cl) were prepared, and the rates of reductive elimination of these complexes in the presence of excess PPh(3) are reported. The platinum complexes reductively eliminated biaryl compounds in quantitative yields with first-order rate constants that were independent of the concentration of PPh(3). Plots of Log(k(obs)/k(obs(H))) vs Hammett substituent constants (sigma) of the para substituents R and X showed that the rates of reductive elimination reactions depended on two different electronic properties. The reductive elimination from symmetrical bis-aryl platinum complexes occurred faster from complexes with more electron-donating para substituents R. However, reductive elimination from a series of electronically unsymmetrical bis-aryl complexes was not faster from complexes with the more electron-donating substituents. Instead, reductive elimination was faster from complexes with a larger difference in the electronic properties of the substituents on the two platinum-bound aryl groups. The two electronic effects can complement or cancel each other. Thus, this combination of electronic effects gives rise to complex, but now more interpretable, free energy relationships for reductive elimination.

Abstract
The first use of parahydrogen-induced polarization (PHIP) in hydroformylation is described including a novel one-hydrogen polarization (oneH-PHIP) in the product RCHO proton. Observed in propanal formed in the reaction of trans-PtCl(COEt)(PPh3)2 + SnCl2 under parahydrogen, oneH-PHIP was examined using the model hydroformylation catalyst Ir(COEt)(CO)2(dppe) (dppe = bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane) that yields the characterized acyl dihydride IrH2(COEt)(CO)(dppe). It is found that oneH-PHIP occurs as a consequence of second-order effects in the acyl dihydride species coupled with stereospecific reductive elimination of aldehyde. Thus, even though hydrogen transfer to substrate in hydroformylation is nonpairwise, parahydrogen effects prove useful mechanistically.
