Abstract
A geometrically flexible bifunctional (bis)aminophosphine ligand was synthesized in a three-component, one-pot Kabachnik-Fields reaction using tert butylphosphine, paraformaldehyde, and 3,5-dimethyl aniline. The product, bis((3,5-dimethylphenyl)aminomethyl) tert butylphosphine (ArBiAMP t Bu), containing two secondary amines and a tertiary phosphine, was isolated in good yields. Deprotonation of both N-H groups with (trimethylsilyl)methylpotassium (K-CH2SiMe3), followed by salt metathesis with LaI3, YI3, and LuI3 generated the corresponding MI(ArBiAMP t Bu)(thf)3 complexes (M = Y (1), La (2), and Lu (3)) in good yields. A sterically encumbered indene, 1,3-diisopropyl-4,7-dimethyl-1H-indene, iPrMeInd, was deprotonated in situ and installed via salt-metathesis to generate the organometallic series of η5-indenide complexes, M(ArBiAMP t Bu)(η5-iPrMeInd)(thf) (M = Y (4), La (5), and Lu (6)). 1H, 31P, 13C, and 89Y NMR experiments, IR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD), were used to characterize these complexes. The Y-P coupling constant was found to be variable depending on the modifiable coordination environment of the metal center, indicating potential as both a spectroscopic handle as well as providing insight into the influence of additional ligands on the metal center.

Abstract
Based on their general spacial flexibility, their Lewis and Brønsted basicity, and ability to mimic second sphere effects the 1,5-diaza-3,7-diphosphacyclooctane ligand family and their complexes have regained substantial scientific interest. It was now possible to structurally analyze a recently reported member of this family with p-tolyl and t-butyl substituents on P and N, respectively, (P2 p-tolN2 tBu). Notably, the ligand crystallizes with a 'twisted' backbone. This compound is the very first of its kind to have been unambiguously characterized with regard to its chemical and molecular structure as being in this conformation. A temperature-dependent NMR study provides insight into the molecular dynamics of two isomers in solution, which are most likely also both twisted, as judged by the observed limited reactivity. Despite the in principle unfavorable conformation of the free ligand, it was successfully chelated to tungsten and molybdenum centers in mononuclear carbonyl complexes. The ligand, a derivative thereof and four new complexes were comprehensively characterized and analyzed in comparison. This includes single crystal XRD molecular structures of P2 p-tolN2 tBu and all four complexes. P2 p-tolN2 tBu, regardless of its twisted conformation, is able to coordinate to metal centers given that enough energy (heat) for a conformational change is provided.

Abstract
Pendant amines play an invaluable role in chemical reactivity, especially for molecular catalysts based on earth-abundant metals. As inspired by [FeFe]-hydrogenases, which contain a pendant amine positioned for cooperative bifunctionality, synthetic catalysts have been developed to emulate this multifunctionality through incorporation of a pendant amine in the second coordination sphere. Cyclic diphosphine ligands containing two amines serve as the basis for a class of catalysts that have been extensively studied and used to demonstrate the impact of a pendant base. These 1,5-diaza-3,7-diphosphacyclooctanes, now often referred to as "P2N2" ligands, have profound effects on the reactivity of many catalysts. The resulting [Ni(PR2NR'2)2]2+ complexes are electrocatalysts for both the oxidation and production of H2. Achieving the optimal benefit of the pendant amine requires that it has suitable basicity and is properly positioned relative to the metal center. In addition to the catalytic efficacy demonstrated with [Ni(PR2NR'2)2]2+ complexes for the oxidation and production of H2, catalysts with diphosphine ligands containing pendant amines have also been demonstrated for several metals for many different reactions, both in solution and immobilized on surfaces. The impact of pendant amines in catalyst design continues to expand.

Abstract
Abstract:Rational design of title ligands and their transition metal complexes gave the high effective catalysts for hydrogen economy and perspective “stimuli-responsive” luminescent materials. Together with the above novel cyclic aminomehtylphospine ligands have showed a row of unpredicted properties like spontaneous formation of macrocyclic molecules, unique reversible slitting of macrocycles on to the smaller cycles, rapid interconversion of the isomers catalyzed by both acids and transitional metals, bridging behavior of usually chelating ligands and unexpected high influence of handling substituents on N-atoms on to the catalytic and luminescent properties of P-complexes.

Abstract
Addition of aminomethylphosphane P{CH2N(CH2CH2)2O}3 (), PPh2{CH2N(CH2CH2)2O} () or PPh2{CH2N(CH2CH2)2NCH2CH3} () to a methanolic solution of RuCl3 results in reduction of ruthenium(iii) ions giving finally ttt-[RuCl2()2] (), ttt-[RuCl2()2] () and ttt-[RuCl2()2] (). The synthesized complexes are the first examples of ruthenium(ii) coordination compounds possessing aminomethylphosphanes chelating via phosphorus and nitrogen atoms. They were fully characterized (NMR, ESI-MS, IR, elemental analysis, X-ray crystallography). Preliminary studies of the in vitro cytotoxicity on the A549 cell line (human lung adenocarcinoma) and interactions with human serum proteins (albumin and apotransferrin) showed moderate activity of the complexes. Interestingly, the P,N-chelation leads to formation of strained 4-membered Ru-P-C-N-Ru rings, which in the case of and undergo opening in the presence of CH3CN, which results in rearrangement to ctc-[RuCl2()2(CH3CN)2] () and ctc-[RuCl2()2(CH3CN)2] ().
