Abstract
This work assessed the impact of biodiesel impurities on CeO2 catalyst for soot combustion via soot-TPO experiments. The results showed that Na- and K-doped catalysts were assisted for soot combustion, while Ca- and P-doped catalysts had a negative effect. N2 adsorption-desorption and XRD results indicated that doping biodiesel impurities led to smaller surface area by blocking small pores. Surface chemical properties are suggested as major reasons for promoting soot combustion by means of XPS, H2-TPR, and O2-TPD. Na- and K-doped catalysts showed stronger redox ability and surface lattice oxygen mobility, poorly for Ca- and P-doped catalysts. Interestingly, a large number of surface oxygen species were observed on P-doped catalyst and it enhanced the ignition of bio soot. In the presence of NO, surface chemical properties including NOx storage/release capacity and NO oxidation ability were characterized by NO-adsorption DRIFTS, NO-TPO and NOx-desorption DRIFTS, alkali-doped catalyst with excellent NOx storage capacity that can release active oxygen species and gaseous NO2 accelerate heterogeneous soot combustion, and the poor NO conversion ability to NO2 that weakens the promotion effect of soot combustion. Particularly in the existence of P, the promotion effect of soot elimination in NO + O2 was further weakened by the reason of poor NOx storage capacity and NO oxidation ability.

Abstract
In this paper, the catalytic combustion of DMDS (dimethyl disulfide, CH3SSCH3) over bimetallic supported catalysts were investigated. It was confirmed that Cu/γ-Al2O3-CeO2 showed best catalytic performance among the five single-metal catalysts. Furthermore, six different metals were separately added into Cu/γ-Al2O3-CeO2 to investigate the promoting effect. The experiments revealed Pt as the most effective promoter and the best catalytic performance was achieved as the adding amount of 0.3 wt%. The characterization results indicated that high activity and resistance to sulfur poisoning of Cu-Pt/γ-Al2O3-CeO2 could be attributed to the synergistic effect between Cu and Pt.

Abstract
Cerium-zirconium (Ce-Zr) solid solutions have been extensively used in a wide variety of catalytic processes due to their unique catalytic features in conjunction with lower cost compared to noble metal-based systems. A series of Ce-Zr-based catalysts was prepared by the sol-gel method. The structure and morphology of these catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric-differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Furthermore, investigation on catalytic performance was carried out by constructing a test platform, and the result indicated that the catalysts apparently decreased the soot ignition temperature. These catalysts exhibited higher catalytic activity for soot oxidation under narrow contact conditions. The results revealed that some soot particles could react with adsorbed oxygen, and other part of diesel soot reacted with lattice oxygen. The activity of these catalysts was attributed to synergistic effect arising from the combination of K/Co/Zr and Ce-Zr solid solution, which led to the decrease in the ignition temperature to 294 °C (data from the test platform). The catalyst still keeps good stability and catalytic activity after the cycle oxidation experiment. A reaction pathway was proposed to explain catalytic combustion process of soot, i.e., combination of K/Co/Zr with Ce-Zr solid solution reduced the binding energy of Ce-Zr solid solution, which was conducive to provide more active sites to release the active oxygen (O2−) or lattice oxygen (O2−).

Abstract
Series of mixed metal oxides were synthesized by gel-combustion method and their catalytic activities for soot oxidation were investigated. The catalysts were M-Ce-Zr (M = Mn, Cu, Fe, K, Ba, Sr), and xK-20Mn-Ce-Zr (x = 0, 5, 10, 20), they were characterized by XRD, SEM, TPR and BET surface area techniques. The results of soot temperature programmed oxidation (TPO) in an O2 oxidizing atmosphere indicate that K-Ce-Zr has the highest catalytic activity for soot oxidation under loose contact condition, due to enhancement of the soot and catalyst contacts. On the other hand, under a tight contact condition, Mn-Ce-Zr and Cu-Ce-Zr nano-composites have high activities for soot oxidation and lower the soot TPO peak temperatures by about 280 and 270 degrees C, respectively, as compared to non-catalytic soot oxidation. Furthermore, the addition of up to 10 wt.% potassium oxides into Mn-Ce-Zr increases its catalytic activity and further reduces the soot TPO peak temperature by about 40 degrees C under loose contact condition.
