Der Doppelsuizid – Teil 2: rechtsmedizinische und kriminalistische Aspekte

Einleitung

Begehen zwei Menschen infolge einer gemeinsamen Entscheidung Suizid, wird dies als Doppelsuizid oder gemeinschaftlicher Suizid definiert. Die rechtsmedizinische Begutachtung hängt von den Umständen des konkreten Einzelfalls ab und kann für die rechtliche Würdigung insbesondere bei Konstellationen, bei denen ein Beteiligter überlebt hat, wichtige Hinweise liefern.

Material und Methoden

Für einen 25-Jahres-Zeitraum von 1995 bis 2019 wurden retrospektiv alle Sektionsfälle mit vollendeten und versuchten Doppelsuiziden analysiert und, soweit erhältlich, mit den Ermittlungsakten abgeglichen.

Ergebnisse

Unter den erhobenen 23 Doppelsuizidfällen fanden sich 16 vollendete sowie 7 Fälle mit jeweils einem Überlebenden. In 83 % der Fälle handelte es sich um Ehepaare bzw. eingetragene Lebensgemeinschaften, in 13 % um Personen, die sich zuvor in einer psychiatrischen Einrichtung, und in 4 % um Personen, die sich in einem „Suizidforum“ im Internet kennengelernt hatten. Der Mittelwert des Sterbealters betrug bei den Männern 57,8 und bei den Frauen 63,4 Jahre. In etwa zwei Drittel der Fälle wurden Erkrankungen als vorherrschendes Suizidmotiv angegeben. Als häufigste Methode wurde eine Intoxikation gewählt. Am zweithäufigsten fanden Schusswaffen Anwendung, wobei ausnahmslos der Mann zuerst einen oder mehrere Kopfschüsse auf seine Frau abgab, bevor er sich suizidierte. Der häufigste Sterbe- und Auffindeort war das gemeinsame Bett der Suizidenten.

Diskussion

Im Gegensatz zu Suiziden i. Allg. wurden die Doppelsuizide am häufigsten mittels einer Intoxikation als sogenannte weiche Methode verübt. In Anlehnung an die rechtsmedizinische Literatur werden für einen Doppelsuizid typische Merkmale herausgearbeitet.

Schlussfolgerung

Doppelsuizide stellen seltene Fälle in der rechtsmedizinischen Praxis dar, wobei die Abgrenzung zu einem erweiterten Suizid (Homizid-Suizid) schwierig werden kann und zugleich unabdingbar ist. Hierfür ist eine ganzheitliche Berücksichtigung der Vorgeschichte, der rechtsmedizinisch erhobenen Befunde und der kriminalistischen Umstände erforderlich.

Paired suicide in a young refugee couple on the Thai-Myanmar border

A young refugee woman attended antenatal clinic on the Thai-Myanmar border at 9 weeks' gestation. As part of an ongoing study of perinatal mental health, she underwent a structured psychiatric interview during which she described occasional depressed mood, anhedonia and passive suicidal ideation. Her husband was a young refugee known to use alcohol and drugs. 2 days later, the couple committed suicide together by herbicide ingestion. Refugee populations are at risk of developing mental disorders as a result of their marginalised status, socioeconomic disadvantage and exposures to trauma. Pregnancy may have exacerbated feelings of hopelessness in this couple. The prevalence of mental disorders such as depression is increased in the perinatal period and suicide is the second leading cause of death in young women globally. Prevention programmes and early recognition of mental disorders may improve detection and lead to better support for vulnerable individuals.

Suicide pacts: six cases and literature review

A suicide pact is the decision of two or more people to die together. This event is rare. The majority of suicide pacts victims are married, socially isolated, with a serious physical illness in one or both partners. We performed a retrospective study of all cases of suicide pacts leading to death between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2010 referred to the Forensic Medicine Department of Tours (France). Six cases were recorded as suicide pacts. Firearms were the preferred means of death. Five suicide notes were discovered. For some cases, it was difficult to establish whether death was the result of a suicide pact or of a homicide-suicide without the consent of the victim. An objective element, such as a suicide note and motive, is required to prove that a suicide pact is involved. The prevalence of mental disorders is hard to assess. In France, psychological autopsies are not performed in such cases, as the investigation is usually very sparse after the death of both individuals.

The evolution of epidemic suicide on Guam: context and contagion

Thirty years of suicide rates for Guam were analyzed by age, sex, period, and cohort. Youth suicide increased rapidly in the 1990s; certain cohorts have higher rates. Four explanatory factors are discussed, including ecological factors and migration from the Federated States of Micronesia. Direct and indirect suicide contagion followed the death by suicide of a respected politician, strongly influencing period and cohort patterns. Suicide pacts inflated suicide among young people. These factors acted in combination to produce epidemic levels of suicide in the 1990s.
