Abstract
BACKGROUND The prognosis for people living with HIV (PLWH) who develop lymphomas has been greatly improved by combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) and anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies. However, real-world clinical data on this patient group in Asia are limited. METHODS Treatment outcomes were retrospectively examined for 104 PLWH with lymphomas between 2000 and 2019. The cohort comprised five PLWH with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and 99 with non-Hodgkin lymphomas, including 61 with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), 19 with Burkitt lymphoma (BL), nine with primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) and ten with other subtypes. RESULTS The 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were as follows: HL (100%), PCNSL (76.2%), other subtypes (60.0%), BL (57.4%), and DLBCL (55.6%). Individuals who achieved complete response (CR) to front-line therapies had a significantly better 5-year OS rate than those without (96.2% vs. 17.8%, p < 0.001). PLWH who received cART for ≤6 months had significantly lower CD4+ T-cell counts at lymphoma diagnosis than those who received cART for longer periods (p = 0.048). Additionally, the 5-year OS rate was better for PLWH who received cART for ≤6 months before lymphomas diagnosis than those who received cART for longer periods (64.5% vs. 51.9%, p = 0.114). CONCLUSIONS PLWH with DLBCL or BL had OS rates compatible to patients without HIV infection. Better outcomes for patients achieving CR to front-line therapy and those with shorter cART duration before lymphoma diagnosis suggest an underlying biological distinction in the lymphomas and the involvement of immunity, which warrants further studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND People living with HIV (PLWH) are susceptible to non-AIDS-related events, particularly those with immunological nonresponses (INRs) to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). This study assessed the association of INRs with incident non-AIDS-related events among PLWH. METHODS This multicenter retrospective cohort study enrolled PLWH who had newly diagnosed stage 3 HIV and received HAART between January 1, 2008, and December 31, 2019. The patients were divided into two groups according to their immunological responses on the 360th day after HAART initiation: INR and non-INR groups. Cox regression and sensitivity analyses were conducted to estimate the effects of INRs on overall and individual categories of non-AIDS-related events (malignancies, vascular diseases, metabolic disorders, renal diseases, and psychiatric disorders). Patient observation started on the 360th day after HAART initiation and continued until February 28, 2022, death, or an outcome of interest, whichever occurred first. RESULTS Among the 289 included patients, 44 had INRs. Most of the included patients were aged 26-45 years (69.55%) and were men who have sex with men (89.97%). Many patients received HIV diagnoses between 2009 and 2012 (38.54%). INRs (vs. non-INRs) were associated with composite non-AIDS-related events (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] = 1.80; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.19-2.73) and metabolic disorders (aHR = 1.75; 95% CI: 1.14-2.68). Sensitivity analyses revealed consistent results for each Cox regression model for both composite non-AIDS-related events and metabolic diseases. CONCLUSION Clinicians should be vigilant and implement early intervention and rigorous monitoring for non-AIDS-related events in PLWH with INRs to HAART.

Abstract
The epidemiology of lymphomas has changed since the use of antiretroviral therapy. The incidence of Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas (NHL) has significantly decreased in high income countries but not in low and middle-income countries where AIDS-related events remain high. This observational study describes the characteristics, infectious complications and main outcomes of patients diagnosed with HIV and lymphoma at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerología.All adults >18 years diagnosed with HIV and lymphoma from January 2010 to December 2017 were included. Information on HIV and lymphoma was collected, as well as the occurrence of co-infections at diagnosis and during therapy. Multiple regression was done with NHL patients to evaluate independent variables associated to death.One hundred fifty three patients were included: 127 patients with NHL (83%) and 26 (17%) with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). Of the NHL, 49 (38%) were diffuse large B cell Lymphomas (DLBCL), 35 (27%) plasmablastic, 28 (23%) Burkitt, 10 (8%) primary DLBCL of Central Nervous system, 3 (2%) T-cell lymphomas, and 2 (2%) pleural effusion lymphoma. Most patients were diagnosed in an advanced stage: 70% of NHL had a high International Prognostic Index (IPI); 68% of patients had <200 cells/mm. Almost 25% of NHL patients had an opportunistic infection at lymphoma diagnosis. During chemotherapy, 60% of all patients presented with at least 1 serious non-opportunistic infectious complication, and 50% presented 2 or more infectious complications, mostly bacterial infections. Thirty six percent of NHL and 23% of HL died. After adjusting for confounders, the variables associated with death were IPI and lymphoma type.HIV positive patients with lymphoma in our institution are diagnosed with an advanced stage and a high burden of infections complications. Death remains high and the variables strongly associated with death are those related to lymphoma prognosis such as lymphoma type and IPI.

Abstract
People living with HIV or AIDS are at increased risk of Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma compared with HIV-negative individuals. Data on the risk of multiple myeloma or leukaemia are inconsistent and of low quality but the risk does not seem to be increased. Specific haematological malignancies occur in different contexts of age, CD4 cell count, HIV control, viral co-infections, or chronic inflammation, and the expansion of combination antiretroviral therapy has led to varied demographic and epidemiological shifts among people with HIV. Increased use of combination antiretroviral therapy has substantially reduced the risks of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, Burkitt lymphoma, and primary CNS lymphoma, and to a lesser extent, Hodgkin lymphoma. There is no effect of combination antiretroviral therapy use on multiple myeloma or leukaemia. Although many cases of HIV are in low-income and middle-income countries, high-quality epidemiological data for haematological malignancies from these regions are scarce. Closing this gap is an essential first step in decreasing mortality from HIV-associated haematological malignancies worldwide. Finally, although multicentric Castleman disease is not a neoplastic condition, it is an emerging precursor to neoplastic high-grade B-cell lymphoproliferation among people with HIV, especially for individuals on long-term combination antiretroviral therapy with well controlled HIV.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite the effectiveness of combination antiretroviral therapy, persons living with human immunodeficiency virus (PLWHIV) remain at a high risk of developing non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). We aimed to analyze the demographics and outcomes of the HIV-associated NHLs. METHODS Between 2005 and 2014, PLWHIV with NHLs were retrospectively enrolled at a tertiary referral center. Characteristics and survival were reviewed and analyzed. RESULTS Twenty-two HIV-associated NHLs were identified, with a median follow-up of 14 months (range, 0.1-139.7), including eight diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCLs), eight primary central nervous system lymphomas (PCNSLs), and six Burkitt's lymphomas (BLs). Nine patients (40.9%) were diagnosed with NHLs and HIV infection concurrently. The prognosis of DLBCL patients tended to be better prognosis than that of BL and PCNSL patients (median overall survival: not reached vs. 3.5 months, p = 0.056). Very early mortality (death within 14 days after NHL diagnosis) was noted in five patients (22.7%), and tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) is a predictive factor for very early mortality among PLWHIV (hazard ratio:11.3, 95% confidence interval: 1.1-114.4, p = 0.04). CONCLUSION Management of the early treatment phase of HIV-associated NHLs remains a major challenge. Careful intervention to patients with TLS might be the key to improve treatment outcomes.

Abstract
Asia is seeing a rise in noncommunicable diseases in their general population and among people living with HIV. Many Asians have low body weight, which can lead to higher plasma concentrations of antiretrovirals and, as a result, their toxicities. Examples are metabolic complications from protease inhibitors, chronic kidney disease from tenofovir, and hepatotoxicity from nevirapine. Asia has not only the highest burden of hepatitis B viral infection than any other continent but also a predominance of genotypes B and C, the latter associated with higher risk for hepatocellular carcinoma. HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders are equally common among Asians as other populations. Diastolic dysfunction and asymptomatic myocardial ischemia are not infrequent. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is the most common AIDS-related cancer, whereas Kaposi sarcoma is relatively infrequent. Emerging data show high prevalence of human papillomavirus-associated anal dysplasia in men who have sex with men. Resource-limited countries in Asia suffer from lack of resources for national screening programs of noncommunicable diseases, which, in turn, limits the epidemiologic data that exist to guide the use of national health resources.

Abstract
Patients with childhood leukemia surviving into adulthood have elevated risk of developing thyroid cancer, brain cancer, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL); these risks cannot automatically be extrapolated to patients surviving adult leukemia. We tested whether survivors of adult leukemia are at increased risk of developing thyroid cancer, brain cancer, and NHL. We included the entire adult Danish population (14 years of age or older), in a 28-year follow-up period from 1980 through 2007, composed of 6 542 639 persons; during this period, 18 834 developed adult leukemia, 4561 developed thyroid cancer, 13 362 developed brain cancer, and 15 967 developed NHL. In nested studies using Cox regression models on individual participant data, we found that, after adult leukemia, the multivariate adjusted hazard ratios were 4.9 (95% confidence interval [CI], 2.8-8.5) for thyroid cancer, 1.9 (95% CI, 1.2-3.1) for brain cancer, and 3.3 (95% CI, 2.5-4.4) for NHL. Corresponding hazard ratios after childhood leukemia were 10.4 (95% CI, 0.4-223) for thyroid cancer, 7.2 (95% CI, 2.0-26) for brain cancer, and 6.5 (95% CI, 0.4-110) for NHL. Patients with adult leukemia have excess risk of thyroid cancer, brain cancer, and NHL, similar to patients with childhood leukemia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The objectives of this study were to determine (i) the prevalence of oral Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in HIV-infected subjects compared to non-HIV controls and (ii) the effects of long-term use of antiretroviral therapy (ART) on the prevalence of oral EBV. METHODS A cross-sectional study was performed in HIV-infected subjects with and without ART, and non-HIV individuals. DNA in saliva samples was extracted and used as a template to detect EBV BamH1W and EBNA1 by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Student t-test and ANOVA test were performed to determine the prevalence rates among groups. RESULTS Forty-nine HIV-infected subjects: 37 on ART (age range 23-54 year, mean 37 year), 12 not on ART (age range 20-40 year, mean 31 year), and 20 non-HIV controls (age range 19-53 year, mean 31 year) were enrolled. The numbers of EBV BamH1W in saliva were found to be significantly higher in HIV-infected subjects than non-HIV controls (80% vs. 20%, mean = 12118 vs. 134 copies/10(5) cells, P < 0.001). HIV-infected subjects who were on ART had significantly lower numbers of EBV BamH1W than those who were not (mean = 4102 vs. 138613 copies/10(5) cells, P = 0.011). The numbers were significantly lower in those who received long-term ART compared with short-term (mean = 1401 vs. 11124 copies/10(5) cells, P = 0.034). No significant difference was observed between the groups when using EBNA1 primers. CONCLUSIONS Prevalence of oral EBV was significantly higher in HIV-infected subjects than non-HIV-controls. The numbers of the virus were significantly decreased by ART. Long-term use of ART did not increase oral EBV.
