Abstract
Five newly obtained nuclear ribosomal transcription unit (rTU) sequences from Echinostomatidae and Echinochasmidae are presented. The inter- and intrafamilial relationships of these and other families in the suborder Echinostomata are also analyzed. The sequences obtained are the complete rTU of Artyfechinostomum malayanum (9,499 bp), the near-complete rTU of Hypoderaeum conoideum (8,076 bp), and the coding regions (from 5'-terminus of 18S to 3'-terminus of 28S rRNA gene) in Echinostoma revolutum (6,856 bp), Echinostoma miyagawai (6,854 bp), and Echinochasmus japonicus (7,150 bp). Except for the longer first internal transcribed spacer (ITS1) in Echinochasmus japonicus, all genes and spacers were almost identical in length. Comprehensive maximum-likelihood phylogenies were constructed using the PhyML software package. The datasets were either the concatenated 28S + 18S rDNA sequences (5.7-5.8 kb) from 60 complete rTUs of 19 families or complete 28S sequences only (about 3.8-3.9 kb) from 70 strains or species of 22 families. The phylogenetic trees confirmed Echinostomatoidea as monophyletic. Furthermore, a detailed phylogeny constructed from alignments of 169 28S D1-D3 rDNA sequences (1.1-1.3 kb) from 98 species of 50 genera of 10 families, including 154 echinostomatoid sequences (85 species/42 genera), clearly indicated known generic relationships within Echinostomatidae and Echinochasmidae and relationships of families within Echinostomata and several other suborders. Within Echinostomatidae, Echinostoma, Artyfechinostomum, and Hypoderaeum appeared as monophyletic, while Echinochasmus (Echinochasmidae) was polyphyletic. The Echinochasmidae are a sister group to the Psilostomidae. The datasets provided here will be useful for taxonomic reappraisal as well as studies of evolutionary and population genetics in the superfamily Echinostomatoidea, the sole superfamily in the suborder Echinostomata.

Abstract
The complete mitogenome (mtDNA) of nominal Paragonimus iloktsuenensis (Paragonimidae: Trematoda) and the nuclear ribosomal transcription unit (rTU) coding region (rTU*: from 5'-terminus of 18S to 3'-terminus of 28S rRNA gene, excluding the external spacer region) of this species and of P. ohirai were obtained and used to further support the previously suggested synonymy of these taxa in the P. ohirai complex. The complete mitogenome of P. iloktsuenensis was 14,827 bp long (GenBank: ON961029) and nearly identical to that of P. ohirai (14,818 bp; KX765277), with a 99.12% nucleotide identity. The rTU* was 7543 bp and 6932 bp in these two taxa, respectively. All genes and spacers in the rTU were identical in length, with exception of the first internal transcribed spacer, which contained multiple tandem repeat units (6.7 for P. iloktsuenensis and 5.7 for P. ohirai). There was near 100% identity for the rTU genes. The phylogenetic topology inferred from the mtDNA and from individual gene regions (partial cox1 of 387 bp and the ITS-2 of 282 bp - 285 bp) indicated a very close relationship consistent with synonymy of P. iloktsuenensis and P. ohirai. The datasets provided here will be useful for taxonomic reappraisal as well as studies of evolutionary and population genetics of the genus Paragonimus and family Paragonimidae.

Abstract
Trematodiosis are among the most neglected parasitic diseases worldwide. The pancreatic eurytrematosis (PE) is a chronic parasitic infection mostly reported in cattle but has been unnoticed in small ruminants for many decades. Our review showed PE has been recorded as scattered regional reports in goats and sheep, mainly in Asia and Eastern Europe. Eurytrema coelomaticum, Eurytrema cladorchis, and Eurytrema pancreaticum have been the main pathogenic species infecting pancreatic ducts of small ruminants. Climatic, environmental, and regional conditions in both hemispheres may support the survival and feasibility of intermediate hosts and parasitic forms, enabling the emergence and spread of PE in small ruminants. As a primarily asymptomatic condition, PE in goats and sheep flocks may also have a high prevalence, causing severe parasitic pancreatitis, production losses, and death. There is little information on anthelmintic therapeutics for PE in small ruminants, and most used anti-fluke drugs are ineffective. PE is likely more unnoticed than a neglected trematodiosis in goats and sheep, or both from a global perspective.

Abstract
The quality of Moutai-flavor Baijiu is highly dependent on Moutai-flavor Daqu (MTDQ), which needs to be stored for six months before using. It brings abundant bacterium, which can metabolize various enzymes and favor compounds. But the reasonable storage time of MTDQ prepared in different seasons is still uncertain. To this end, the study revealed a detailed bacterial profile of storage MTDQ prepared in three different seasons (specifically, they were stored start from spring, summer and autumn) by using high-throughput sequencing approach (next generation sequencing). Results showed that major phyla of storage MTDQ were Firmicutes, Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Fusobacteria. The advantages of Firmicutes were Thermoactinomyces and Bacillaceae. Significant differences in bacterial community structures of MTDQ from different seasons and storage time were observed. Compared with summer and autumn MTDQ, the decrease of Thermoactinomyces and increase of Desmospora in spring MTDQ were the main differences and bacterial community structures of summer and autumn MTDQ were more similar. The variation trends of the bacteria community indicated the effective time of storage period were appropriately six months for spring MTDQ, two months for summer MTDQ and more than six months for autumn MTDQ. These results showed that the length of storage time was associated with the season, it's reasonable to adjust the storage time of MTDQ with the season.

Abstract
On the basis of the morphological characterization of Chelatrema neilgherriensis Manjula & Janardanan, 2006 recovered from the freshwater fish Barilius gatensis (Valenciennes, 1844) in the Wayanad region of the Western Ghats, the diagnostic features of the genus Chelatrema Gupta & Kumari, 1973 have been modified. Based on the phylogenetic analysis of C. neilgherriensis and comparative morphology studies relative to members of other families of Gorgoderoidea Looss, 1901, this genus is placed in a new family Chelatrematidae n. fam. The studies revealed the molecular and morphological closeness of Chelatrema with Paracreptatrematina limi Amin & Myer, 1982, and the latter is transferred to this new family. Hence the new family Chelatrematidae n. fam. comprises the genera Chelatrema and Paracreptatrematina.

Abstract
Great losses of cattle and other ruminants due to Eurytrema pancreaticum have been recorded in Indonesia and other countries in Southeast Asia. The objective of this study was to examine histological alterations after E. pancreaticum infection in cattle. This study analysed the pathological changes of pancreas in 153 cattle sampled randomly at slaughterhouses in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Samples were obtained during one year as part of routine meat inspection. The samples of cattle pancreas were obtained from slaughterhouse in Banda Aceh and examined for eurytrematosis. The number of infected pancreases was 64 out of 153 (41.8%). The pancreases indicated some alterations including macroscopic colour changes of the pancreatic capsular surface, followed by the production of mucus on the surface. Some adult flukes were found in the capsular surface of the pancreas together with fluke eggs. The dissected pancreases were prepared for histopathological study for each segment, and then observed under microscope. The implications of findings from histopathologic analyses of the pancreas are discussed.

Abstract
Metorchis orientalis belongs to the genus Metorchis of Opisthorchiidae, which mainly parasitizes in liver and bile ducts of waterfowl, causing liver dysfunction of the host. It has been reported that M. orientalis also infects humans. As a natural species in Australia and a popular ornamental animal, Black Swan (Cygnus atratus) has been imported into many countries. At present there has been no report of M. orientalis infection in Black Swan. In the present study M. orientalis infection in Black Swan was identified by a combination of different techniques, including morphological observation and molecular analysis. M. orientalis adults were found in the gallbladder and bile duct of a three-year-old female Black Swan, which was further confirmed by internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequence analysis. In addition, the intermediate and definitive hosts of M. orientalis from the ‘Qing’ lake (a man-made lake in Changchun, China) that Black Swan lived were investigated and the infection route was preliminarily determined. Parafossarulus striatulus functioned as the first intermediate host which contained M. orientalis DNA, and fishes such as Pseudorasbora parva and Rhodeinae served as the second intermediate hosts with M. orientalis metacercariae in the fish flesh. M. orientalis eggs were found in the feces of three other Swans and six ducks that lived in the ‘Qing’ lake. This was the first reported case about M. orientalis infection of Black Swan. Our study described the course of the infection and provided new information about potential carriers and disseminators of M. orientalis. M. orientalis infection was firstly reported in Black Swan in China. P. striatulus served as the first intermediate host, P. parva and Rhodeinae as the second intermediate host. •Swans and ducks served as the definitive hosts.

Abstract
Many members of Fasciolidae are common trematodes in cattle, buffaloes, sheep, elephants, pigs, with some capable of infecting humans also. In this study, the complete or near-complete sequences of ribosomal transcription unit (rTU or rDNA), each of Fasciola hepatica (Australia), Fascioloides jacksoni (Sri Lanka), Fasciolopsis buski (Vietnam) and three isolates of F. gigantica (Vietnam), were obtained and characterized. The full length of rDNA for each F. hepatica, 'hybrid' Fasciola sp., Fas. jacksoni and Fa. Buski, was 7657 bp, 7966 bp, 7781 bp and 8361 bp, with the complete intergenic spacer region (IGS) (862 bp, 1170 bp, 987 bp and 561 bp), respectively. The rDNA of two 'pure' F. gigantica isolates from Vietnam was 6794 bp with unsequenced IGS. For 28S rRNA genes the Fasciola spp. are equal, 1958 bp for 18S, 160 bp for 5.8S, 3863 bp and 454 bp for ITS1 but ITS2 differ by one nucleotide (Thymine) (359 or 360 bp). The ITS1 of the sensu lato Fa. buski has some distinguishable features, 286 bp for ITS2, 3862 bp for 28S and four repeat units of 356-361 bp each found in ITS1. The 28S rDNA analysis showed the lowest level of divergence (0-0.57%) between F. hepatica and F. gigantica and higher (2.23-2.62%) and highest (6-6.42%) for Fas. jacksoni and Fasciolopsis, respectively. The tree of 43 strains/species clearly produced a well-supported phylogeny, where 18 fasciolids consistently grouped, forming a discrete Fasciolidae clade, distinct from Philophthalmidae, Echinostomatidae and Echinochasmidae in Echinostomatoidea. Fascioloides jacksoni is outside Fasciola spp.: basal with Fas. magna, as previously demonstrated.

Abstract
Both Clonorchis sinensis and Metorchis orientalis are the fish-borne zoonotic trematodes, and have a wide distribution of southeastern Asia, especially in China. Due to the similar morphology, life cycle, and parasitic positions are difficult to differentiate between both metacercariae. In the present study, the complete rDNA sequences of five C. sinensis and five M. orientalis were obtained and compared for the first time. And the IGS rDNA sequences were tested as a genetic marker. The results showed complete rDNA lengths of C. sinensis were range from 8049 bp to 8391 bp, including 1991 bp, 1116 bp, 3854 bp, and 1088-1430 bp belonging to 18S, ITS, 28S and IGS, respectively. And the complete rDNA lengths of M. orientalis were range from 7881 bp to 9355 bp, including 1991 bp, 1077 bp, 3856 bp, and 957-2431 bp belonging to 18S, ITS, 28S and IGS, respectively. Comparative analyses reveal length difference main in IGS, which has higher intraspecific and interspecific variations than other ribosomal regions. Forty four repeat (forward and inverted) sequences were found in the complete rDNAs of C. sinensis and M. orientalis. The phylogenetic analyses showed that the sequences of ITS1, ITS2, 18S and 28S could be used as different level genetic markers. In IGS phylogenetic tree, Opisthorchiidae, Paramphistomidae, Dicrocoeliidae, and Schistosomatidae formed monophyletic groups, and the same length sequences were clustered together in the same species. These findings of the present study provide the new molecular data for studying the complete rDNA of C. sinensis and M. orientalis, and indicate IGS sequences may used as a novel genetic marker for studying intraspecific variation in trematodes.

Abstract
Perna viridis and P. canaliculus are economically and ecologically important species of shellfish. In this study, the complete ribosomal DNA (rDNA) unit sequences of these species were determined for the first time. The gene order, 18S rRNA-internal transcribed spacer (ITS) 1-5.8S rRNA-ITS2-28S rRNA-intergenic spacer (IGS), was similar to that observed in other eukaryotes. The lengths of the P. viridis and P. canaliculus rDNA sequences ranged from 8,432 to 8,616 bp and from 7,597 to 7,610 bp, respectively, this variability was mainly attributable to the IGS region. The putative transcription termination site and initiation site were confirmed. Perna viridis and P. canaliculus rDNA contained two (length: 93 and 40 bp) and one (length: 131 bp) repeat motifs, respectively. Individual intra-species differences mainly involved the copy number of repeat units. In P. viridis, three cytosine-guanine (CpG) sites with sizes of 440, 1,075 and 537 bp were found to cover nearly the entire IGS sequence, whereas in P. canaliculus, two CpG islands with sizes of 361 and 484 bp were identified. The phylogenetic trees constructed with maximum likelihood and neighbour-joining methods and based on ITS sequences were identical and included three major clusters. Species of the same genus were easily clustered together.

Abstract
This chapter analyses the taxonomic position of Dicrocoeliidae family and several of its genus and species. The biology of the major species causing veterinary diseases such Dicrocoelium dendriticum, Dicrocoelium hospes, Dicrocoelium chinensis, Eurytrema pancreaticum and Platynosomum fastosum, has been reviewed. All these species have an indirect life cycle, involving two intermediate hosts (molluscs as first and ants, grasshoppers and lizards as second). Dicrocoelium dendriticum is a very widespread hepatic trematode in the ruminants of many countries in Europe, Asia, North Africa and North America, even affecting humans. Dicrocoelium hospes is widely distributed in the savanna areas of Africa south of the Sahara, whilst D. chinensis has mainly been found in ruminants in East Asia and some European countries (probably imported from Asia). Eurytrema pancreaticum is a common parasite whose adults live in ruminant bile ducts, gall bladder, pancreatic ducts and intestines in Europe, Madagascar, Asia and South America. Adult P. fastosum live in the liver, gall bladder and pancreas of birds and mammals in Europe, Africa, Asia, North, Central and South America. Information about the epidemiology, pathology, clinical aspect, diagnosis, treatment, control, prevention and economic impact mainly of Dicrocoeliosis produced by D. dendriticum, as well as of Eurytrematodosis and Platynosomiosis, has been included.
