Abstract
Coupling different energy harvesting technologies to obtain an excellent output signal is essential for the development of high-performance self-powered electrochemical sensors. Herein, a novel hydrovoltaic-photothermal coupling self-powered electrochemical aptasensing platform was designed for sensitive detection of microcystin (MC-RR) with a digital multimeter as a direct visual readout strategy. The straightforward ultrasonic method was employed to synthesize polyaniline (PANI) and bismuth oxybromide (BiOBr) nanosheets, which were then integrated as active components in a hydrovoltaic device. The unique layer structure of two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials BiOBr can create flexible interlayer spaces to accommodate various ions and water molecules, which was beneficial to construct evaporation-driven channels. Meanwhile, the exceptional photothermal characteristics of polyaniline could accelerate the water evaporation rate, consequently boosting the migration speed of charge carriers and increasing output signal. Moreover, a digital multimeter was connected to the constructed sensor for real-time displaying the output signal. With the assistance of aptamer, a novel self-powered electrochemical aptasensing platform was constructed for sensitive detection of MC-RR. Under optimum conditions, the output signal of the hydrovoltaic-photothermal coupling cell was linearly related to the logarithm of MC-RR concentration in the range of 1 fM to 1 nM with a detection limit of 0.31 fM (S/N = 3). Furthermore, this sensor also exhibited many advantages such as high selectivity, good repeatability and portability. Such novel strategy not only offers a completely new general approach to construct high-performance self-powered devices for the detection of MC-RR, but also provides a new strategy for advancing the miniaturization and field application of self-powered electrochemical sensors.

Abstract
Photoelectrochemical (PEC) is a highly sensitive and fast analytical method that can be used at low concentrations, while photoelectrochromic is a simple and low-cost method primarily utilized for high concentration detection. Therefore, we have developed a dual-signal output sensing platform based on both PEC and photoelectrochromism for rapid and sensitive OTA detection. The sensing platform is divided into signal generation (SG) region and signal output (SO) region, which modified with WO3/BiVO4 photoactive nanocomposites and polyaniline (PANI), respectively. By irradiating the SG region, photogenerated electrons are generated and injected into the SO region through the conductive pathway, resulting in a decrease in surface blue polyaniline and a change to green. The smart device can accurately measure the RGB-Green values, enabling the construction of a photochromic visual sensing platform. After immobilizing the OTA aptamer in the SG region, a linear correlation was observed between the concentration of OTA and the RGB-Green value within the range of 20 ng/L ∼250 μg/L. The detection limit was determined to be 8.33 ng/L (S/N = 3). Furthermore, for a more sensitive OTA detection, a PEC sensing platform was developed utilizing the SG region as a photoanode, exhibiting a linear correlation in the range of 2 pg/L∼300 μg/L with a detection limit of 0.8 pg/L (S/N = 3). The detection of these two modes under the requirement of the international standard for the maximum limit realizes the sensitive OTA detection. The RGB-Green is verified to PEC signal, which improves the detection accuracy. The sensing platform has several advantages and is suitable for various application scenarios.

Abstract
Traditional p-type CuO (pCuO), valued for its tunable band gap and p-type conductivity, has been widely used in photoelectrochemical biosensors. However, its weak conductivity leads to unsatisfied photoelectrochemical signals and limits its use in in situ vulcanization reactions. We synthesized n-type CuO (nCuO) with abundant oxygen vacancies through a simple chemical reduction for the first time, which was applied as efficient photoactive material. The resulting nCuO exhibits superior photoelectrochemical performance than pCuO, thanks to enhanced carrier separation facilitated by the oxygen vacancies. Upon miRNA-21 introduction, H₂S was generated, which can react with Cu(II) to form nCuO-pCuS heterojunction on the electrode. Inspiringly, the current increase of nCuO is 2.3 times higher than the pCuO after vulcanization reaction due to the built-in electric field of the nCuO-pCuS heterojunction can promote efficient carrier separation. Under optimal conditions, the biosensor offers excellent analytical performance, with a wide linear range (0.004-400 pM) and a detection limit of 1.8 fM. The integration of oxygen defect engineering and target-triggered vulcanization presents a new strategy for designing high-performance photoelectrochemical biosensors.

Abstract
A ratiometric self-powered photoelectrochemical sensor based on laser direct writing technology was constructed to address the problem that the conventional single-signal detection mode was susceptible to the influence of instrumentation and environmental factors, which interfered with the detection results. Laser-induced CdS/TiO2/Graphene was prepared as dual photoanodes (PA1 and PA2), which were controlled by multiplexed switches to form a photocatalytic fuel cell with Pt cathode. By modifying the aptamer of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) on the photoanode surface, the target was specifically captured to the electrode surface to form a biological complex, which increased the steric hindrance and affected the electron transfer, thus reducing the output signal of the sensor. Targets with different concentrations were incubated on the surface of PA1, and targets with fixed concentrations were incubated on the surface of PA2. Under the control of the multiplex switch, the output signals of the two photoanodes were recorded, and the ratio of these two signals was used as the basis for the quantitative detection of AFB1. The sensor output was linearly increasing with the logarithm of AFB1 concentration from 1.0 to 150 ng mL-1 and the detection limit was 0.0974 ng mL-1. Additionally, this method had good stability, fast response, and good selectivity to real samples, providing an effective method for food safety monitoring.

Abstract
A novel high-precision aptasensor of microcystin-RR (MC-RR) is developed based on a ratiometric self-powered photoelectrochemical platform. In detail, the defective MoS2/Ti3C2 nanocomposite with good photoelectric activity was designed to serve as the photoanode of the sensor for enhancing the signal and improving the detection sensitivity. In order to effectively eliminate external interferences, the key point of this ratiometric device is the introduction of the spatial-resolved technique, which includes the detection section and the reference section, generating reference signals and response signals, respectively. Moreover, output power was used as the detection signal, instead of the traditional photocurrent or photovoltage. Further, potassium persulfate was introduced as electron acceptor, which was beneficial for improving the electron transport efficiency, hindering electron-hole recombination, and significantly promoting the performance of the sensor. Finally, aptamer was adopted as recognition element to capture MC-RR molecules. The prepared sensor had a linear range from 10-12 to 10-6 M, and the detection limit was 5.6 × 10-13 M (S/N = 3). It has good precision, selectivity, and sensitivity, which shows great prospects in the on-site accurate analysis of samples with high energy output in the self-powered sensing field.

Abstract
Self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing, as an emerging sensing mode, can effectively solve the problems such as weak anti-interference ability and poor signal response of individual photoanode or photocathode sensing. In this work, an ITO/Co-CuInS2 photocathode and ITO/WO3@CdS photoanode based self-powered cathodic PEC immunosensor was developed, which integrated dual-photoelectrode to synergistic amplify the signal for highly sensitive and specific detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The self-powered PEC sensor could drive electrons transfer through the difference in Fermi levels between the two photoelectrodes without an external bias voltage. The photoanode was introduced to amplify the photoelectric signal, and the photocathode was only designed for the construction of sensing interfaces. The proposed sensor quantitatively determined the target CEA with the detection limit of 0.23 pg/mL and a linear correlation confine of 0.1 pg/mL ∼100 ng/mL. The constructed immunosensing platform exhibited high sensitivity, satisfactory stability and great biological detection selectivity, providing a feasible and effective strategy for the manufacture of new self-powered sensors in high-performance PEC bioanalytical applications.

Abstract
The occurrence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is strongly associated with the progressive aggregation of a 42-amino-acid fragment derived from the amyloid-β precursor protein (Aβ1-42). Therefore, it is crucial to establish a versatile platform that can effectively detect Aβ1-42 to aid in the early-stage preclinical diagnosis of AD. Herein, we introduce a specialized split-type analytical platform that enables sensitive and accurate monitoring of Aβ1-42 based on a self-corrected photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing system. To realize this design, gelatinized Ti3C2@Bi2WO6 Schottky heterojunctions were prepared and served as photoelectrodes for tackling the photoinduced charge carriers. Functionalized CaCO3@CuO2 nanocomposites were used as signal converters to detect Aβ1-42 and amplify the signal further. Benefiting from the glucose oxidation induced acid microenvironment and H2O2 output, the nanocomposites are able to rapidly decompose, producing Ca2+ and Fenton-like catalyst Cu2+. The Cu2+-driven Fenton-like reaction generated ·OH, which accelerated the 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) oxidation. Additionally, Ca2+ was cross-linked with alginate inducing gelation on the surface of Ti3C2@Bi2WO6 Schottky heterojunctions, influencing mass transfer and light absorption. Eventually results in the shift of photocurrent, allowing for precise quantification with a detection limit of 0.06 pg mL-1. The combination of colorimetric variation and the photoelectric effect provide a more accurate and reliable result. This research opens up new possibilities for constructing PEC platforms and beyond.

Abstract
A self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor has attracted widespread attention in the field of analysis, but it is still a challenge to enhance its response signals with rational strategies. In this work, a novel self-powered PEC sensing platform was developed for the quantitative detection of gatifloxacin (GAT) based on a photofuel cell consisting of two types of ZIF-derived ZnO/Co3O4 heterojunctions as photoactive materials. Peroxymonosulfate (PMS) was first used as an electron acceptor coupled with a photofuel cell to develop a synergetic signal amplification strategy. In a dual-photoelectrode system, the PMS activation on the ZnO@Co3O4 photocathode not only accelerated electron transfer from the Co3O4@ZnO photoanode to achieve strong signal intensity but also improved the sensing sensitivity by the oxidation reaction of generated highly active radicals to GAT. Compared with the absence of electron acceptors, the introduction of PMS produced a 2-fold enhancement in the signal output performance and a more than 72-fold improvement in the signal sensitivity. For the construction of the sensing interface, a molecularly imprinted polymer was assembled on the photocathode to specifically recognize GAT. The proposed sensor exhibited a detection range of 10-1 to 105 pM with a detection limit of 0.065 pM. The proposed sensing method has the advantages of sensitivity, simplicity, reliable stability, and anti-interference ability, which opens the door to the design of high-performance self-powered PEC sensors.

Abstract
Bacterial infections, viral infections and autoimmune diseases pose a considerable threat to human health. Procalcitonin (PCT) has emerged as a biomarker for the detection of these diseases. To ensure accurate and reliable results, we propose a dual-mode approach that incorporates self-validation and self-correction mechanisms. Herein, we develop a dual-mode self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) and colorimetric sensor to determine PCT. The self-powered PEC sensor was constructed with a photoanode of spherical nanoflower-MoS2/Cu2ZnSnS4/Bi2S3 material and a photocathode of CuInS2 material. Ni4Cu2 bimetallic hollow nanospheres (BHNs) possess superoxide dismutase and catalase performance, which facilitate superoxide anion radical (·O2-) and H2O2 circulating generation, promoting the separation of photogenerated electrons and holes to amplify photocurrent signal. Thus Ni4Cu2 BHNs is used as a marker material for PEC sensor. Meanwhile, in colorimetric mode, Ni4Cu2 BHNs converts blue oxTMB to a colourless TMB for colorimetric detection of PCT. Based on this principle, dual-mode determination of PCT with high sensitivity is achieved. The dual-mode method not only demonstrates outstanding properties and practicability, but also presents an effective, highly efficient and reliable method for detecting PCT.

Abstract
Herein, a novel photocathodic nanocomposite poly{4,8-bis[5-(2-ethylhexyl)-thiophen-2-yl] benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophene-2,6-diyl-alt-3-fluoro-2-[(2-ethylhexyl)-carbonyl]thieno[3,4-b]thiophene-4,6-diyl}/phthalocyanine zinc (PTB7-Th/ZnPc) with high photoelectric conversion efficiency under long-wavelength illumination was prepared to construct an ultrasensitive biosensor for the detection of microRNA-21 (miRNA-21), accompanied by a prominent anti-interference capability toward reductive substances. Impressively, the new heterojunction PTB7-Th/ZnPc nanocomposite could not only generate a strong cathodic photocurrent to improve the detection sensitivity under long-wavelength illumination (660 nm) but also effectively avoid the high damage of biological activity caused by short-wavelength light stimulation. Accordingly, by coupling with rolling circle amplification (RCA)-triggered DNA amplification to form functional biquencher nanospheres, a PEC biosensor was fabricated to realize the ultrasensitive analysis of miRNA-21 in the concentration range of 0.1 fM to 10 nM with a detection limit as low as 32 aM. This strategy provided a novel long-wavelength illumination-induced photocurrent enhancement photoactive material for a sensitive and low-damage anti-interference bioassay and early clinical disease diagnosis.

Abstract
Developing a dual-photoelectrode fuel cell based self-powered sensor (DPFC-SPS) with an ideal signal output capability and high sensitivity performance for the detection of environmental pollutant atrazine (ATZ) has an important value. In this work, the in situ molecularly imprinting functionalized p-type organic semiconductor polyterthiophene (MI-pTTh) is used as a photocathode to construct a DPFC-SPS toward the typical environmental pollutant ATZ for the first time. Due to its excellent photoactivity, higher stability, and superior oxygen reduction reaction activity, pTTh serves as the photocathode material for constructing a self-powered sensing platform with a stable signal output and high photoelectric activity. Based on the sensitive light-triggered large self-bias of the DPFC-SPS, the open circuit potential (EOCV) of the device reaches 1.21 V and the maximum power density (Pmax) reaches 121.5 μW·cm-2, which is much higher than most reported PFC-SPSs. Simultaneously, in situ molecularly imprinted (MI) functionization of pTTh can further endow it with specific recognition ability, helping the constructed SPS achieve high sensitivity, selectivity, and effective recognition of the important environmental pollutants ATZ in complex systems. It exhibits a broad linear relationship from 0.002 to 100 nM and a low detection limit (estimated by S/N > 3) of 0.21 pM toward ATZ. The mechanism of the binding kinetics of the MI-pTTh with the target ATZ is further studied via in situ infrared spectroscopy. This work provides theoretical guidance for sensing strategies using dual-photoelectrode devices and offers a rational device design for cost-effective electricity generation from renewable resources.

Abstract
A photo-driven self-powered aptasensor was constructed based on a matching capacitor and the ZnIn2S4/Ti3C2 heterojunction as the photoanode and Cu2O as the photocathode in a dual-photoelectrode sensing matrix for multiple signal amplification for the ultrasensitive detection of microcystin-RR (MC-RR). The introduction of Ti3C2 MXene nanosheets on the photoanode surface can not only accelerate the transfer and separation of photoinduced electron/hole pairs, thus enhancing the output signal of the photo-driven self-powered system, but also provide a larger specific surface area for the immobilization of the bio-recognition unit aptamer. More importantly, for a portable and miniaturized device, a micro-workstation with the size of a universal serial bus (USB) disk and a novel short-circuit current access was proposed to capture the instantaneous output electrical signal for real-time data tracking. In such a way, a sensitivity of 2.7 mA pM-1 was achieved when the matching capacitor was integrated into the self-powered system, which was 22 times that without a capacitor. After the interaction between MC-RR and the corresponding aptamer, a 'signal-off' detection configuration was formed via the steric hindrance effect. Therefore, such a multiple signal amplification system realized the ultrasensitive and selective determination of MC-RR successfully. Under optimal conditions, the linear range of the self-powered aptasensor was 0.1 to 100 pM and the detection limit was 0.033 pM (S/N = 3). The aptasensor was applied to the detection of MC-RR in fish, exhibiting good reproducibility (≈3.88%), paving the way for detecting microcystins in real-life samples.

Abstract
Programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) can enhance the immune tolerance of tumor cells by suppressing the activity of T-cells, and is one of the culprits that lead to the immune escape of tumor cells. Thus, the sensitive and portable detection of PD-L1 levels is essential for many types of tumor prognosis. Herein, a novel dual-mode analytical device for the ultrasensitive detection of PD-L1 has been developed. In this configuration, an advanced organic-inorganic hybrid material of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) -BiOBr0.8I0.2 is designed as photocathode to enhance the photogenerated electron migration efficiency of the MWCNTs/SnS2-photoanode by external circuit, amplifying cathodic photocurrent without extra energy supply. The PD-L1 aptamer is loaded on the photocathode surface to ensure selectivity. The obtained sensing platform can achieve highly sensitive and specific detection of PD-L1 in complex environment, with a low detection limit of 0.29 pg mL-1. On the other hand, electrochromic material Prussian blue (PB) and MWCNTs/SnS2 are integrated to fabricate a portable sensing chip for PD-L1. Under illumination, photogenerated electrons of MWCNTs/SnS2 are injected into Prussian blue, and the blue PB is reduced to white product, indicating the concentration of PD-L1, without need of other instrument. This self-powered photoelectrochemical and visual analysis system has good practicability and is a promising clinical diagnosis tool.

Abstract
Exploring efficient strategy for high-efficiency photoelectric conversion is quite important to design sensitive self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing platform. This work designed a high performance self-powered PEC sensing platform by the integration of piezoelectric effect with localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect based on ZnO-WO3-x heterostructures. Due to the fluid eddy induced piezoelectric effect by magnetic stirring, the piezoelectric semiconductor ZnO nanorod arrays (ZnO NRs) can facilitate the transfer of electrons and holes by generating piezoelectric potentials under external forces, thereby contributing to the performance of self-powered PEC platforms. Such working mechanism of the piezoelectric effect was studied by using the COMSOL software. Moreover, the introduction of defect engineered WO3 (WO3-x) can further broaden the light absorption and promote the charge transfer owing to the nonmetallic surface plasmon resonance effect. Remarkably, due to the synergizing piezoelectric and plasmonic effect, the photocurrent and maximum power output of ZnO-WO3-x heterostructures were enhanced by 3.3-fold and 5.5-fold than that of bare ZnO, respectively. After the immobilization of the enrofloxacin (ENR) aptamer, the self-powered sensor demonstrated an excellent linearity (1 × 10-14 M to 1 × 10-9 M) with a low detection limit of 1.8 × 10-15 M (S/N = 3). This work undoubtedly holds great promise to provide the innovative inspiration for the formation of high-performance self-powered sensing platform, which opens up a new horizon of potential in food safety and environmental monitoring.

Abstract
Herein, an ultrasensitive photocathodic biosensor was fabricated based on Cu2O/PTB7-Th/PDA+ photoactive materials with high photocarrier separation efficiency for the detection of microRNA-375-3p. Impressively, the photocathodic signal of the Cu2O material was significantly enhanced by using PTB7-Th as an energy level-matching photoactive material to enhance the bulk charge separation and N,N-bis (2-(trimethylammoniumiodide) propylene) perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxydiimide (PDA+) as an interfacial charge transfer mediator to efficiently suppress charge recombination at the photoelectrode/electrolyte interface. Compared with the pristine Cu2O as a photocathode, the obtained Cu2O/PTB7-Th/PDA+ exhibited a 17 times higher photocathodic signal. As a proof of concept, a PEC biosensor was fabricated by using Cu2O/PTB7-Th/PDA+ as a photoactive material and a target-triggered 3D DNA walker integrated with the dumbbell hybridization chain reaction (DHCR) as a signal amplifier to achieve the sensitive detection of microRNA-375-3p with a detection limit of 0.3 fM. This work provided a method to increase the photocurrent signal and the sensitivity of PEC-sensing platforms for the detection of biomarkers and disease diagnosis.

Abstract
Benefiting from a high quantum efficiency, low thermal emittance, and large absorption coefficient, InxGa1-xAs is an excellent group III-V compound for negative electron affinity (NEA) photocathodes. As the emission layer, InxGa1-xAs, where x = 0.15, has the optimal performance for detection in the near-infrared (NIR) region. Herein, an NEA In0.15Ga0.85As photocathode with Al0.63Ga0.37As as the buffer layer is designed in the form of a transmission mode module. The electronic band structures and optical properties of In0.15Ga0.85As and Al0.63Ga0.37As are calculated based on density functional theory. The time response characteristics of the In0.15Ga0.85As photocathode have been fully investigated by changing the photoelectron diffusion coefficient, the interface recombination velocity, and the thickness of the emission layer. Our results demonstrate that the response time of the In0.15Ga0.85As photocathode can be reduced to 6.1 ps with an incident wavelength of 1064 nm. The quantum efficiency of the In0.15Ga0.85As photocathode is simulated by taking into account multilayer optical thin film theory. The results indicate that a high quantum efficiency can be obtained by parameter optimization of the emission layer. This paper provides significant theoretical support for the applications of semiconductor photocathodes in the near-infrared region, especially for the study of ultrafast responses in the photoemission process.

Abstract
As a liver toxin, long-term exposure of microcystin-arginine-arginine (MC-RR) is harmful to the ecological environment and human health, so it is necessary to realize on-site detection of MC-RR. The self-powered sensor has enormous potential for on-site detection in battery-free devices. However, due to the low photoelectric conversion efficiency and poor anti-interference ability to environmental fluctuation, the field detection of self-powered sensor is limited. Herein, we tackled above problems according to the following two aspects. For one hand, CoMoS4 hollow nanospheres modified internal reference electrode was arranged in the self-powered sensor, which effectively avoided the influence of unstable sunlight caused by different space, time, weather and other factors. For the other hand, dual-photoelectrode could absorb and convert sunlight, so as to improve the solar capture and energy utilization, and realized the sunlight instead of traditional external light source (Xenon lamp or LED, etc.). This method effectively simplified the sensing device and solved the interference of environment in on-site detection. In addition, multimeter was used to measure the output voltage instead of electrochemical workstation, achieving the purpose of portability. This work established a sunlight-driven internal reference self-powered sensor with miniaturization, portability and anti-interference to realize MC-RR on-site monitoring in lake water.

Abstract
Currently, the construction of heterojunctions as a method to enhance photoelectrochemical (PEC) activity has shown prospective applications in the analytical field. Restricted by carrier separation at the interface, developing a heterojunction sensing platform with high sensitivity remains challenging. Here, a double-photoelectrode PEC sensing platform was fabricated based on an antenna-like strategy by integrating MIL-68(In)-NH2, a p-type metal-organic framework (MOF) photocatalyst, as a photocathode with the type-II heterojunction of CdSe/MgIn2S4 as a photoanode synchronously. According to the ligand-to-metal charge transition (LMCT), the photo-generated carriers of MIL-68(In)-NH2 transferred from the organic ligand to the metal cluster, which provides an efficient antenna-like transfer path for the charge at the heterojunction interface. In addition, the sufficient Fermi energy difference between the double photoelectrode provides the continuous internal driving force required for rapid carrier separation at the anode detection interface, significantly improving the photoelectric conversion efficiency. Hence, compared with the traditional heterojunction single electrode, the photocurrent response of the double-photoelectrode PEC sensing platform developed using the antenna-like strategy is 2.5 times stronger. Based on this strategy, we constructed a PEC biosensor for the detection of programed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1). The elaborated PD-L1 biosensor exhibited sensitive and precise detection capability with a detection range of 1 × 10-5 to 1 × 103 ng/mL and a lower detection limit of 3.26 × 10-6 ng/mL and demonstrated the feasibility of serum sample detection, providing a novel and viable approach for the unmet clinical need of PD-L1 quantification. More importantly, the charge separation mechanism at the heterojunction interface proposed in this study provides new creative inspiration for designing sensors with high-sensitivity PEC performance.

Abstract
Detection of T-2 toxin is of great significance to environment and human health, as T-2 toxin is one of the main toxins that contaminate crops, stored grain and other food. Herein, a zero-gate-bias organic photoelectrochemical transistor (OPECT) sensor was proposed based on nanoelectrode arrays as gate photoactive materials which can result in the accumulation of photovoltage and preferable capacitance leading to better sensitivity of the OPECT. For comparison, the channel current of OPECT was 100 times higher than photocurrent of conventional photoelectrochemical (PEC) attributing to remarkable signal amplification of OPECT. It was also found that the detection limit of OPECT aptasensor was as low as 28.8 pg/L, lower than 0.34 ng/L of the conventional PEC method, further indicating the advantage of the OPECT devices in T-2 toxin determination. This research has been successfully applied in real sample detection which provided a general platform of OPECT for food safety analysis.

Abstract
Exploiting ingenious photoelectrodes and innovative signal amplification strategies has the potential to achieve high sensitivity in self-powered cathodic photoelectrochemical (PEC) analysis. In this work, a novel self-powered PEC sensing platform was constructed by integrating a synergistic signal amplification of an ingenious photocathode with a high light-harvesting photoanode. In the dual photoelectrode-based PEC system, the amplified photocurrent signals were induced by a synergistic enhancement: (1) the photocurrent of the BiOBr photocathode was improved by the incorporation of nitrogen-doped graphene; (2) the photocurrent of the self-powered sensor was activated by the high-light-harvesting Bi2S3-C3N4 photoanode. Subsequently, the rational mechanism for synergistic signal amplification was investigated. For the construction of the sensing interface, an aptamer was introduced as the recognition element to specifically capture the streptomycin (STR) target. Under optimal conditions, the constructed self-powered aptasensor has the merits of good linear range (1 × 10-11 to 5 × 10-7 M), acceptable limit of detection (1.18 × 10-12 M), and excellent stability and selectivity for STR detection. Additionally, the proposed self-powered aptasensor showed acceptable accuracy for the detection of STR in water. Hopefully, this might stimulate more interest in designing and constructing novel platforms for exquisite photocathodic monitoring of various contaminants in the environment.

Abstract
In vivo tracking of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) is of great significance for assessing their risks to the ecological environment and human health. However, existing in vivo POPs detection methods are limited by the lethal sampling of living organisms, complex sample preparation processes, or bulky testing equipment. Photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing with the merits of high sensitivity and simple equipment is a fast-developed method for in vivo analysis. A major obstacle for in vivo PEC sensors is the separated implantation of multiple electrodes and a light source, which raises concerns like multielectrode biofouling and electroactive molecules interference in the complex environment, uncertain electrode implant distance, and multiple insertion operations. Here, a coaxially implanted photofuel microsensor was developed by hiding the optical fiber-based photoanode inside the glass capillary-based biocathode, and the model target PCB77 can be detected with an ultralow detection limit (2.8 fg/mL). This unique photoanode-biocathode-light source integrated structure ensures excellent selectivity, good antifouling ability and biocompatibility, high accuracy, and less implant mechanical damage. Combined with a handheld pH meter, our sensor achieved convenient and direct tracking of the bioaccumulation levels of PCB77 in freely swimming fish.

Abstract
A novel dual-mode microfluidic analytical device integrating self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing with electrochromic visualization analysis was developed for ultrasensitive ofloxacin (OFL) detection. First, an advanced dual direct Z-scheme BiVO4@Ni-ZnIn2S4/Bi2S3 (BVZIS) heterojunction was designed as a photoanode matrix to steadily provide electrons. The dual Z-scheme structure formed in photoactive BVZIS composites greatly accelerated the migration of electrons. In addition, the doping of Ni in ZnIn2S4 markedly enhanced the optical absorption and promoted the separation of the photocarrier. Second, electrochromic material polyaniline-modified Au (Au/PANI) was first electrodeposited on the photocathode for immobilizing aptamers and realizing visualized readout. On the one hand, Au/PANI with excellent conductivity could receive electrons from the photoanode without external energy supply. On the other hand, PANI would be rapidly reduced by the received electrons and change its color from blue to green obviously. With the increase in OFL, the increased steric hindrance resulted in the significant decline in the PEC signal and RGBgreen value. Third, wide linear ranges of PEC (0.05 pg/mL to 150 ng/mL) and electrochromic technique (0.1 pg/mL to 100 ng/mL) as well as low detection limits of PEC (18 fg/mL) and electrochromic (30 fg/mL) sensors could achieve the ultrasensitive detection of OFL in milk and river water.

Abstract
The self-powered sensors have attracted widespread attention in the analysis field due to a huge demand of point-of-care testing (POCT) in the early diagnosis of diseases. However, the output voltage of the reported self-powered sensors is always small, resulting in a narrow linear detection range and low assay sensitivity. Herein, a self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor with zinc-air batteries as a power source was developed for activity assay of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) based on perovskite quantum dots encapsulated in the vinyl-functionalized covalent organic framework (COF-V). CsPbBr3 nanocrystals were stabilized by the confinement effect of the COF-V cage without aggregation, and the resulting CsPbBr3@COF-V composite was used as the cathodic photoelectric material to construct the zinc-air battery with a large open-circuit voltage (OCV, 1.556 V). Before PTP1B activity assay, an auxiliary peptide-polyamidoamine-phosphopeptide (P2-PAMAM-P1) hybrid was introduced into the photocathode via thiol-ene click reaction between the thiol group on the P1 and the vinyl group on the COF-V. The steric hindrance effect of the P1-PAMAM-P2 hybrid inhibited the PEC performance of the photocathode, resulting in a small OCV of the zinc-air battery. When the PTP1B existed, PTP1B-catalyzed dephosphorylation of tyrosine on P1 facilitated the cleavage process of P1 by chymotrypsin, leading to the removal of the P2-PAMAM-P1 hybrid from the photocathode and consequently the enhancement of the OCV. Therefore, the activity of PTP1B was sensitively detected. The developed self-powered PEC sensor showed superior performance for PTP1B activity assay (broad linear response range, 0.1 pM to 10 nM and low detection limit, 0.032 pM) due to the large output voltage of the constructed zinc-air battery and has great potential in POCT of protein phosphatase-related diseases and the discovery of protein phosphatase-targeted drugs.

Abstract
Using an In2O3/WO3 type-II heterojunction modified fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) electrode as the photoanode and CdS quantum dots (QDs)-polydopamine nanospheres (PDA NSs) as the secondary antibody (Ab2) label, the photoelectrochemistry (PEC) sandwich immunosensing of the lung cancer marker CYFRA21-1 was studied. WO3 nanoplates were prepared by a hydrothermal method, In2O3 nanoporous spheres were prepared by a hydrothermal method followed by calcination, and the In2O3/WO3 type-II heterojunction with high PEC activity was prepared by ultrasonic mixing and cast-coating. PDA NSs with a high surface area can be loaded with abundant Ab2 molecules and many CdS QDs with an energy level well matched with the heterojunction, so the photocurrent signal can be amplified by the formation of a sandwich immunostructure. Through the simulation experiments of photoelectrode-modified chitosan films of varying thickness, the effective transport distance of photogenerated charges is preliminarily discussed. Under the optimized conditions, the photocurrent was linear with the common logarithm of CYFRA21-1 concentration from 100 fg mL-1 to 50 ng mL-1, with a limit of detection of 56 fg mL-1 (S/N = 3). The immunoassay of CYFRA21-1 in human serum samples gave satisfactory recovery results.

Abstract
Self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing platform without external voltage has provided a breakthrough in the development of biosensors, however, it is necessary to find suitable Fermi energy level difference between photoanode materials and photocathode materials as the driving force. Herein, the self-powered PEC sensor was developed to combine the advantages of both the photoanode (SnS2/In2S3) and the photocathode (CuInS2). The sufficient Fermi level differentiation between the photoanode with the photocathode not only resulted in an evident photocurrent response vis tuning the electron transfer but avoided redox reactions of extra electron donors/acceptors to enhance the accuracy of the sensor. The biological target was immobilized on the photocathode, which allowed the sensor to possess a good anti-interference capability for the detection of real samples. The proposed PEC sensor exhibits good sensitivity for the cytokeratin 19 fragment (CYFRA21-1) detection and a low limit of detection (LOD) of 6.57 fg mL-1. Moreover, the as-purposed PEC system with good anti-interference capability and accuracy has implications for the detection of other biomarkers.
