Abstract
In this work, a novel fluorescence sensor UiO-66-PSM based on post-synthetic modified metal-organic frameworks was prepared for the detection of berberine hydrochloride (BBH) in the traditional Chinese herb Coptis. UiO-66-PSM was synthesized by a simple Schiff base reaction with UiO-66-NH2 and phthalaldehyde (PAD). The luminescence quenching can be attributed to the photo-induced electron transfer process from the ligand of UiO-66-PSM to BBH. The UiO-66-PSM sensor exhibited fast response time, low detection limit, and high selectivity to BBH. Moreover, the UiO-66-PSM sensor was successfully applied to the quantitative detection of BBH in the traditional Chinese herb Coptis, and the detection results obtained from the as-fabricated fluorescence sensing assay were consistent with those of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), indicating that this work has potential applicability for the detection of BBH in traditional Chinese herbs.

Abstract
Triazole polycarboxylic acid ligands are widely employed in the construction of MOFs due to their strong coordination ability and flexible coordination modes. In this work, three novel complexes (Pb(MCTCA)(H2O) (1), Co(HMCTCA)2(H2O)2 (2) and Cu(HMCTCA)2(H2O)2 (3)) based on the H2MCTCA ligand (5-methyl-1-(4-carboxyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxylic acid) were successfully synthesized under hydrothermal conditions, respectively. X-ray single crystal structure analysis shows that complex 1 is a 3D network structure, where the central metal Pb(II) is six coordinated to form deformed triangular prism geometry. The complexes 2 and 3 are both 2D layer supramolecular structures connected through intermolecular hydrogen, where the central metals (Co/Cu) are six coordinated to form octahedral configuration geometry. Based on functional properties, it is found that complex 1 exhibits excellent detection ability for small-molecule drugs (azithromycin, colchicine and balsalazide disodium) and actinide cations (Th4+ and UO22+) within a lower concentration range without interference from other components. In particular, the detection limits of three small-molecule drugs are all lower than 0.30 μM. In addition, complexes 2 and 3 exhibited excellent catalytic reduction performance toward p-nitrophenol (PNP), with a reduction efficiency exceeding 98%. These experimental results evidence that complexes 1-3 have potential application prospects in fluorescence sensing and catalytic reduction.

A ratiometric luminescence sensing platform based on lanthanide-based silica nanoparticles for selective and sensitive detection of Fe 3+ and Cu 2+ ions. Dalton Trans 2023; 52:3300-3307. Abstract
Detection of Fe(III) and Cu(II) in water is highly desirable because their abnormal levels can cause serious harm to human health and environmental safety. In this work, a ratiometric luminescence sensing platform based on lanthanide-based silica nanoparticles was constructed for the detection of Fe3+ and Cu2+ ions. The terbium-silica nanoparticles (named SiO2@Tb) with dual-emission signals were successfully prepared by grafting Tb3+ ions onto trimellitic anhydride (TMA) functionalized silica nanospheres. It can serve as a ratiometric fluorescent probe for the detection of Fe3+ and Cu2+ ions in water with the green emission of Tb3+ ions as a response signal and the blue emission of silica nanospheres as the reference signal. Significantly, an easy-to-differentiate color change for visual detection was also realized. SiO2@Tb shows high sensitivity even in very low concentration regions towards the sensing of Fe3+ and Cu2+ with low detection limits of 0.75 μM and 0.91 μM, respectively. Moreover, the mechanism for the luminescence quenching of SiO2@Tb was systematically investigated, and was attributed to the synergetic effect of the absorption competition quenching (ACQ) mechanism and cation exchange. This study demonstrates that SiO2@Tb can be employed as a promising fluorescent probe for the detection of Fe3+ and Cu2+ ions, and the combination of lanthanide ions with silica nanoparticles is an effective strategy to construct a ratiometric fluorescent sensing platform for the determination of analytes in environmental detection.

Abstract
It is necessary to find more simple methods to improve the detection selectivity and sensitivity of antibiotics. Herein, we constructed a novel three-dimensional (3D) Cd-MOF LCU-117 assembled from p-terphenyl-4,2″,5″,4'-tetracarboxylic acid, which showed a special 3D helical structure with carboxylic acid ligands and nitrogen-containing ligands crossing each other vertically. Luminescence measurements indicated that LCU-117 has high selectivity and sensitivity toward Eu3+ through the ratiometric effect. Meanwhile, this complex itself could detect antibiotics oxytetracycline (OTC) through the turn-off mechanism. When Eu3+ was added in suspensions of LCU-117 (noted as Eu3+@LCU-117), the detection toward OTC was enhanced significantly and visually. The sensing mechanism was investigated in detail by various measurements and theoretical calculations. LCU-117 has a good effect on the logic gate, potential fingerprint detection, and mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs). The practical application for monitoring OTC in water samples also provided a satisfactory result.

Abstract
Creatinine is an important clinical marker for human health, but detecting it by a luminescent sensor based on metal-organic frameworks is rarely investigated. In this work, we synthesized a new lanthanide-organic framework {[Tb(L)(CH3COO)(H2O)]·0.5DMF}n (1) (H2L = 3,5-bis(4'-carboxy-phenyl)1,2,4-triazole) with good solvent and acid/alkaline stabilities. Experimental results indicate that 1 can be used in the detection of creatinine in an aqueous solution with a wide linear detection range from 3.27 to 371 μM, and the detection limit can reach 1.7 × 10-6 M based on the 3σ method, which is less than the pathogenic concentration in a real environment. In addition, this luminescent sensor can also monitor the concentration changes of creatinine in diluted serum solutions and can be recycled at least five times, suggesting that it has a potential application for clinical monitoring.

Abstract
A luminescent 3D metal-organic framework [Zn(NDA)(AMP)] = PUC1 (where, NDA = naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and AMP = 4-aminomethyl pyridine) was synthesized under solvothermal conditions. The synthesized 3D framework was fully characterized with the help of different analytical techniques such as SCXRD, FTIR, TGA, PXRD, SEM, BET, etc. PUC1 exhibited a strong emission peak at 371 nm when excited at 290 nm and the resulting emission was efficiently quenched in the presence of various organic explosive substances like pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), 2,4,6-trinitrophenyl-N-methylnitramine (Tetryl), trinitrotoluene (TNT), 1,3,5-trinitroperhydro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), and 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazoctane (HMX). PUC1 revealed highly sensitive and selective detection of PETN and Tetryl with high quenching constant values of 0.1 × 106 and 0.12 × 105 M-1 and low detection limits of 0.315 and 0.404 μM respectively. The strong luminescent properties of PUC1 lead to its successful application in the development of latent fingermarks on different non-porous surfaces using the powder dusting method. The accuracy and applicability of the synthesized material were determined by developing fingerprints by using secretions from eccrine and apocrine glands on a glass slide and various other surfaces, followed by dusting the surfaces. The results so obtained were found to be very accurate and promising.

Abstract
A new fluorescence coordination polymer [Zn(Py2TTz)(5-OH-IPA)]n (1) (Py2TTz = 2,5-bis(4-pyridyl)thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole, 5-OH-IPA = 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid dianion) was synthesized, which exhibited the characteristics of fluorescence quenching and bathochromic shift toward Hg(II) in aqueous solution at pH 7.00. Mechanism study showed that the interactions between Hg(II) ions and Py2TTz ligands in 1 were responsible for the fluorescence emission change. Thanks to the specific interactions between 1 and Hg(II), excellent selectivity was achieved both in aqueous solution and in solid test paper. The detection limit of 1 for Hg(II) sensing was 125.76 nmol L-1 and a linear rang was 1.00-10.00 μmol L-1. More importantly, satisfactory recovery and accuracy of 1 for Hg(II) sensing were also obtained in buffer-free real water samples.

Abstract
Herein, a multifunctional ratiometric fluorescent (RF) probe Fe-MIL-88NH2@RhB was fabricated for individual detection of Cu2+/Glu and continuous sensing of Glu based on unique coordination principle by encapsulating RhB into the porous of metal-organic-framework-Fe-MIL-88NH2. Designed Fe-MIL-88NH2@RhB platform could selectively identify Cu(II)/Glu accompanying a turn-off/turn-on fluorescent behavior with good linearity. Moreover, if the Fe-MIL-88NH2@RhB/Cu2+ is treated with Glu continuously, the quenching fluorescence of this platform (after Cu2+ sensing at blue emission) would be further in turn restored. Utilizing Fe-MIL-88NH2@RhB probe, the imaging of intracellular Cu(II) and Glu in living A549 cells was successful conducted through divisional channels with a satisfactory low cytotoxicity, meanwhile, the sensing results of Glu in serum by the molecular logic gate was also superior, which may use for development of an medical occupational tool for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis tentative diagnosis. In addition, the MOF shows di-modal response (color and lumescence) to Cu2+ and Glu with excellent selectivity against a wide range of other interference analytes, and the corresponding portable low-toxicity on-line test strips for Cu2+ and Glu recognize has exhibited a remarkable visually chromogenic phenomena, which may utilize for monitoring these contaminants in real water sample. Finally, the feasibility of probe to monitor Cu2+ and Glu in foodstuffs was also evaluated.

Abstract
Indium metal-organic frameworks (In-MOFs) based on pyridylcarboxylate ligands represent a subclass of MOFs featuring diverse structures, a high stability, and various properties. This review discusses the different aspects of In-MOFs including their design, synthesis and structures as well as their typical potential applications in adsorption and separation, catalysis, and chemical sensors. Importantly, the effect of pyridine on the properties and stability of frameworks has been carefully studied. The introduction of a pyridine group not only significantly enriches clusters of In3+ ions, but also enables flexible, controllably synthesized ionic or neutral frameworks to be fabricated. Based on this, we suggest that this type of In-metal organic framework (MOF) should receive more attention in the field of MOF design.

Abstract
A potent luminescent sensor for the detection of iodide ions was developed based on a terbium(iii)-based lanthanide-organic framework [Tb(cpia)(H2O)2]n·nH2O (1), which was prepared under hydrothermal conditions using the 5-(4-carboxyphenoxy)isophthalic acid (H3cpia) bridging ligand. Compound 1 exhibits superior luminescence quenching behavior towards I- with high sensitivity and selectivity among various anions and shows real-time response. Moreover, the mechanism of the selective luminescence quenching response for I- can be mainly explained by the absorption competition between 1 and I-. According to this quenching mechanism, we find that compound 1 can also detect Br- by adjusting the excitation wavelength. Significantly, this work could serve as a general guidance for the design and synthesis of pollutant sensors.

Abstract
Ellagic acid (EA) is a symmetric natural phenol bioactive compound present in fruits and nuts, and has attracted substantial interest worldwide owing to its beneficial health effects. Here, the exploration of luminescent metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) of MIL-101(Al)-NH2 (MIL = Materials of Institute Lavoisier) for rapid and sensitive sensing of EA in aqueous solution was reported initially. The porous MIL-101(Al)-NH2 MOFs was synthesized by solvent-thermal method with inexpensive 2-aminoterephthalic acid and aluminum salt, which exhibited uniform spherical crystals (~340 nm) and specific mesoporous structure (3.2 nm). The fluorescence intensity of MIL-101(Al)-NH2 at 425 nm showed a good linear relationship with EA concentration in the range of 0.15-100 μM. The detection limit was as low as 43.8 nM, the rapid response time was within 2 min, and the cost of detection was low. In addition, the "turn off" fluorescence probe could be utilized for visual detection of EA according to the color change under the UV lamp. Based on the Stern-Volmer equation, the quenching constants was decreased with the rise of temperature, which indicated that the probable quenching mechanism was static quenching. The nanoprobe was successfully used to detect EA in the cherry and serum samples. MIL-101(Al)-NH2 represents the first instance of MOFs-based fluorescent probe in EA detection. This work not only enriches the detection method of EA, but also expands the potential application of MIL MOFs in small molecules.

Abstract
By the co-assembly of two carboxylic acids with distinct symmetries and different numbers of carboxyl groups, we obtained two novel cocrystal structures at the n-octanoic acid/HOPG interface, one of which was sustained by unoptimized R22(8) hydrogen bonding. Benefiting from the bias-sensitivity of the BTB (1,3,5-tris(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene) molecule, a structure transition between the cocrystal network and a denser BTB lamella is achieved.

Abstract
Two structurally similar metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) [Dy2Cu4I3(IN)7(DMF)2]·DMF (1) and [Dy2Cu4I3(IN)7(DMA)2]·DMA (2) (HIN = isonicotinic acid) feathering different coordinated solvent molecules were successfully isolated by tuning the types of solvents in the reaction system. Structural tests indicate that 1 and 2 are both built from 1D Dy(III) chains and copper iodide clusters [Cu4I3], generating into three-dimensional frameworks with an open 1D channel along the a axis. 1 and 2 display extensive and excellent solvent stability. Magnetic studies of 1 and 2 indicate that they exhibit interesting solvent-dependent magnetization dynamics. Importantly, 1 and 2 can act as highly effective catalysts for the carboxylic cyclization of propargyl alcohols with carbon dioxide (CO2) under ambient operating conditions. Additionally, the substrate scope was further explored over compound 1 based on the optimal conditions, and it exhibits efficient cyclic carboxylation of various terminal propargylic alcohols with CO2. This research offers an effective approach for the solvent-guided synthesis of MOFs materials and also presents the great application value of MOFs in CO2 chemical conversion.

Abstract
The exquisite combination of independent 3p [In(CO2)4] units and 4f [Tb2(CO2)8] clusters in the presence of the designed hexatopic 2,4,6-tri(2,4-dicarboxyphenyl)pyridine ligand engenders one peculiar nanocaged In(III){Tb(III)}2-organic framework: ({(Me2NH2)[InTb2(HTDP)2]·3DMF·3H2O}n, designated as NUC-5), which features dual types of lotus-shaped channels along the [100] and [110] axes with related node windows of 5.3 × 6.8 and 12.1 × 9.2 Å2, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, except several coexisted 3p-4f In/Ln clusters of {In3Ln}- and {In3Ln2}-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), NUC-5 is one novel type of In/Ln heterometallic framework. In addition, its topology was an unprecedented 3D TAYZIC net with a Schläfli symbol of {4.462}{4.565}2{4.66.88}. Moreover, activated NUC-5 is proved to be one efficient adsorbent for CO2 and one recycled cycloaddition catalyst for the transformation of epoxides into related carbonates with high yields under mild conditions. Furthermore, the excellent reversible sorption performance for I2 in the volatilization phase or in cyclohexane solution with a maximum adsorption capacity of 609.1 mg/g (3.75 iodine molecules per unit cell) makes NUC-5 a promising adsorbent for radioactive products of 129I and 131I in the field of nuclear industry. This study provides one synthetic strategy that the original nature of MOFs could be enhanced by introducing some specific function-prompted inorganic subunits with the aid of predesigned supporting ligands.
