Abstract
The presence of nodularin-R (NOD-R) in water has gained considerable attention because of its widespread distribution and high toxicity. In this study, an accurate and rapid visible-light-driven self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor was developed by integrating a portable paper-based electrode with a custom-built miniaturized PEC detection device. The newly designed system successfully achieved on-site detection of NOD-R in real water samples based on PEC technology. First, target recognition triggers the initiation of the hybridization chain reaction to generate double-stranded DNA. The thus-formed double-stranded DNA entrapped methylene blue (MB), and the dye molecules were irradiated with visible light for conversion to leuco-MB in the presence of ascorbic acid. The resulting leuco-MB species significantly amplified the PEC signal output of TiO2-MXene, enabling NOD-R detection. Under optimal conditions, the proposed PEC assay strategy demonstrated NOD-R detection within a concentration range from 20 fg mL-1 to 10 ng mL-1 with a detection limit of 19.6 fg mL-1. In addition, a custom-built miniaturized PEC detection device conveniently integrates the detection component with the light source, enabling the real-time collection of results via a wireless module. This innovative self-powered PEC platform provides significant advancements in smooth and intelligent detection compared to traditional PEC detection devices.

Abstract
Globally, cyanobacterial blooms have become serious problems in eutrophic water. Most previous studies have focused on environmental factors but have neglected the role of quorum sensing (QS) in bloom development and control. This study explored a key quorum sensing molecule (QSM) that promotes cell growth and then proposed a targeted quorum quencher to control blooms. A new QSM 3-OH-C4-HSL was identified with high-resolution mass spectrometry. It was found to regulate cellular carbon metabolism and energy metabolism as a means to promote Microcystis aeruginosa growth. To quench the QS induced by 3-OH-C4-HSL, three furanone-like inhibitors were proposed based on molecular structure, of which dihydro-3-amino-2-(3H)-furanone (FN) at a concentration of 20 μM exhibited excellent inhibition of M. aeruginosa growth (by 67%). Molecular docking analysis revealed that the inhibitor strongly occupied the QSM receptor protein LuxR by binding with Asn164(A) and His167(A) via two hydrogen bonds (the bond lengths were 3.04 and 4.04 Å) and the binding energy was -5.9 kcal/mol. The inhibitor blocked signaling regulation and induced programmed cell death in Microcystis. Importantly, FN presented little aquatic biotoxicity and negligibly affected aquatic microbial function. This study provides a promising new and eco-friendly strategy for controlling cyanobacterial blooms.

Abstract
Microcystins are secondary metabolites produced by some cyanobacteria, a class of cyclic heptapeptide toxins that are stable in the environment. Microcystins can create a variety of adverse health effects in humans, animals, and plants through contaminated water. Effective methods to degrade them are required. Microorganisms are considered to be a promising method to degrade microcystins due to their high efficiency, low cost, and environmental friendliness. This review focuses on perspectives on the frontiers of microcystin biodegradation. It has been reported that bacteria and fungi play an important contribution to degradation. Analysis of the biodegradation mechanism and pathway is an important part of the research. Microcystin biodegradation has been extensively studied in the existing research. This review provides an overview of (1) pollution assessment strategies and hazards of microcystins in water bodies and (2) the important contributions of various bacteria and fungi in the biodegradation of microcystins and their degradation mechanisms, including mlr gene-induced (gene cluster expressing microcystinase) degradation. The application of biodegradable technology still needs development. Further, a robust regulatory oversight is required to monitor and minimize MC contamination. This review aims to provide more references regarding the detection and removal of microcystins in aqueous environments and to promote the application of biodegradation techniques for the purification of microcystin-contaminated water.

Drinking Water Supplemented with Acidifiers Improves the Growth Performance of Weaned Pigs and Potentially Regulates Antioxidant Capacity, Immunity, and Gastrointestinal Microbiota Diversity. Abstract
This study evaluated the potential effects of adding acidifiers to the drinking water on the growth performance, complete blood count, antioxidant indicators, and diversity of gastrointestinal microbiota for weaned pigs. A total of 400 weaned pigs were randomly divided into four treatments. Pigs were fed the same basal diet and given either water (no acidifier was added, control) or water plus blends of different formulas of acidifiers (acidifier A1, A2, or A3) for 35 days. On d 18 and 35 of the experimental period, 64 pigs (four pigs per pen) were randomly selected to collect blood for a CBC test (n = 128) and an antioxidant indicators test (n = 128); 24 pigs (six pigs per group) were randomly selected to collect fresh feces (n = 48) from the rectum for 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Compared to the control, supplementing the drinking water with acidifiers improved the growth performance and survival rate of weaned pigs. Acidifier groups also increased serum catalase (CAT) and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) activities, while also displaying a decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration compared to the control. The relative abundance of Firmicutes in the acidifier A1 group was greater than that in the control group (p < 0.05) on d 35; the relative abundance of Lactobacillus in the acidifier A1 group was greater than that in the control group (p < 0.05) on d 18 and 35. The microbial species Subdoligranulum or Ruminococcaceae_UCG-005 had significantly positive correlations with ADG and ADFI or with serum antioxidant indicators, respectively. These findings suggest that supplementing the drinking water with an acidifier has a potential as an antioxidant, which was reflected in the improvement of growth performance, immunity, antioxidant capacity, and intestinal flora.
