Abstract
The design and synthesis of a Gd(III) metal-organic framework with the formula [Gd4(BTDI)3(DMF)4]n (JXUST-40, H4BTDI = 5,5'-(benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole-4,7-diyl)diisophthalic acid) are reported hererin. Interestingly, a reversible single-crystal-to-single-crystal transition between JXUST-40 and {[Gd4(BTDI)3(H2O)4]·6H2O}n (JXUST-40a) was achieved under the stimulation of heat and solvents. Both JXUST-40 and JXUST-40a exhibited good stability when soaked in common solvents and aqueous solutions with pH values of 1-12. Magnetic studies showed that JXUST-40a has a larger magnetocaloric effect with -ΔSmaxm = 26.65 J kg-1 K-1 at 2 K and 7 T than JXUST-40 due to its larger magnetic density. Structural analyses indicated that the coordinated solvent molecules play a crucial role in the coordination environment around the Gd(III) ions and the change in the framework, ultimately leading to the changes in the pore size and magnetism between JXUST-40 and JXUST-40a. In addition, both isomorphic [Dy4(BTDI)3(DMF)4]n (JXUST-41) and {[Dy4(BTDI)3(H2O)4]·6H2O}n (JXUST-41a) displayed slow magnetic relaxation behaviour.

Abstract
The explorations of new three-dimensional (3D) microporous metal halides, especially the iodoargentate-based hybrids, and understanding of their structure-activity relationships are still quite essential but full of great challenges. Herein, with the aromatic 4,4'-dpa (4,4'-dpa = 4,4'-dipyridylamine) ligands as the structural directing agents, we solvothermal synthesized and structurally characterized a novel member of microporous iodoargentate family, namely [H2-4,4'-dpa]Ag6I8 (1). Compound 1 possesses a unique and complicated 3D [Ag6I8]n2n- anionic architecture that was built up from the unusual hexameric [Ag6I13] secondary building units (SBUs). Research on optical properties indicated that compound 1 exhibited semiconductor behavior, with an optical band gap of 2.50 eV. Under the alternate irradiation of light, prominent photoelectric switching abilities could be achieved by compound [H2-4,4'-dpa]Ag6I8, whose photocurrent densities (0.37 μA·cm-2 for visible light and 1.23 μA·cm-2 for full-spectrum) compared well with or exceeded those of some high-performance halide counterparts. Further theoretical calculations revealed that the relatively dispersed conduction bands (CBs) structures in compound 1 induced higher electron mobilities, which may be responsible for its good photoelectricity. Presented in this work also comprised the analyses of Hirshfeld surface, powder X-ray diffractometer (PXRD), thermogravimetric measurement, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrum (EDX) along with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Abstract
So far, the development of new iodoargentate-based hybrids, especially those compounds with metal complex cations, and the understanding of their structure-activity relationships have been of vital importance but full of challenges. Herein, using the in-situ-generated metal complex cations as structural directing agents, three new iodoargentate-based hybrids, namely, [Co(phen)3]Ag2PbI6 (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline; 1), [Ni(5,5-dmpy)3]Ag7I9·CH3CN (5,5-dmpy = 5,5-dimethyl-2,2-bipyridine; 2) and [Co(5,5-dmpy)3]Ag5I8 (3), have been solvothermally prepared and then structurally characterized. Compound 1 represents one new heterometallic Ag-Pb-I compound characteristic of the chain-like [Ag2PbI6]n2n- anions. Compound 2 features the straight one-dimensional (1D) [Ag7I9]n2n- anionic moieties, while compound 3 contains infrequent two types of curved [Ag5I8]n3n- anions. Optical properties reveal that the title compounds exhibit interesting semiconductor behaviors with the band gaps of 1.59-2.78 eV, which endow them with good photoelectric switching performances under the alternate light irradiations. We also present their Hirshfeld surface analyses, and the theoretical studies (band structures, density of states (DOS) and partial density of states (PDOS)).

Abstract
Cluster-based framework metal iodides have diverse structures and excellent luminescence properties, and show promising applications in sensing and solid-state lighting. However, the design and synthesis of these materials remain great challenges because excess I- ions introduced into the synthesis systems decrease the condensation degree of M-I units. In this work, a new strategy is developed to control the condensation behavior of Ag-I units, and a new silver-rich cluster-based framework iodide [DabcoAg8I6(SPh)2]n (1) (Dabco = 1,4-diazabicyclo [2.2.2] octane) has been synthesized under solvothermal conditions in the presence of silver thiophenolate (AgSPh)n. Compound 1 features a three-dimensional (3-D) cluster-based framework with a pillared layer structure composed of cationic [Ag8I6]2+ clusters bridged by SPh- and Dabco, and displays low-temperature dual emission and luminescence thermochromism.

Abstract
The heterometallic Pb-iodoargentate hybrid [Pb(18-crown-6)(PbAg2I6)]n (1; 18-crown-6 = 1,4,7,10,13,16-hexaoxacyclooctadecane) was prepared via self-assembly of the tetrahedal AgI4 and octahedral PbI6 primary units using crown ether 18-crown-6 as an organic ligand in DMF solvent. The hybrid heterocomposite cocatalyst based on 1 and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) was prepared by a facile solvothermal method. In 1, the dimeric units Ag2I6 and Pb2I10 are joined via face sharing, leading to a ternary heterometallic 1-D [PbAg2I62-]n chain containing novel Ag2Pb2I4 cubes. The 1-D chains are joined by the discoid [Pb(18-crown-6)]2+ complex cations, forming the 2-D [Pb(18-crown-6)(PbAg2I6)]n hybrid with the skeleton of [Pb2Ag2I6]n. Compound 1 shows photocatalytic activity in the degradation of MB at room temperature under visible-light irradiation. The photoelectric response measurement showed that the photocurrent of 1 increased from 1.41 to 2.43 μA/cm-2 when g-C3N4 was loaded, indicating that the introduction of a certain amount of g-C3N4 on the surface of 1 improves the separation and migration rate of photoinduced electrons and holes. The 1/g-C3N4 composite showed much higher photocatalytic efficiency in comparison to pristine 1 and g-C3N4 for MB degradation, which suggests the synergistic effect between 1 and g-C3N4 toward visible-light-driven photocatalytic performance. Meanwhile, the 1/g-C3N4 composite exhibited good reusability and stability in the photocatalytic reaction. Free radical quenching experiments showed that the •O2- radical is the main reactive substance over catalyst 1, while h+, •OH, and •O2- species have synergistic effects over the 1/g-C3N4 composite catalyst in the process of photodegradation.

Abstract
Polyoxometalate-based organic-inorganic hybrids have attracted considerable attention due to their fascinating structures and wide application prospects. In this work, using the same building blocks, ligands and metal ions (ZnW12O406-(ZnW12), 2,2'-bipyridine (2,2'-bipy), and Cu2+), we synthesized three new POM-based hybrids by controlling the pH values of the reaction systems. These three compounds {(Zn0.6(H2)0.4W12O40)[Cu(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)][Cu(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)2][Cu(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)3]}2·6H2O (1), (Me4N)2{ZnW12O40[Cu(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)][Cu(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)3]}·5H2O (2), and {(Zn0.5(H2)0.5W12O40)[Cu(2,2'-bipy)][Cu(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)][Cu(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)2]}·5H2O (3) have been structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 appears as a dimeric cluster structure, while compounds 2 and 3 appear as a 1D chain structure and a 2D network, respectively. The semiconducting properties of compounds 1-3 are different, which was demonstrated by band gap (Eg) and photocurrent response measurements. Compound 3 can efficiently catalyze the photooxidation of toluene to benzaldehyde with high selectivity using molecular oxygen as the oxidant component. Moreover, compound 3 was recycled and reused three times without significant degradation in conversion and selectivity. In addition, the mechanism of the photocatalytic reaction was also investigated.

Abstract
Two new hybrid polymeric iodoargentates, [Ag2I2(phen)]n (1; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) and [AgI(bpt)]n (2; bpt = 3,5-bis(pyrazinyl)-1,2,4-triazole), were prepared by the hydrothermal methods. 1 displays a new type of taenioid, [Ag2I2(phen)]n, chain incorporating phen molecules, while 2 exhibits a unique 2D hybrid iodoargentate based on a combination of the [AgI]n layer and bpt molecules as electron acceptors. Such a 2D layer is the first example of an inorganic iodoargentate layer covalently bonding to aromatic N-heterocycle derivatives within the iodoargentates. 1 and 2 exhibit photocurrent response properties.
