Abstract
Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are crystalline, three-dimensional structures with high surface areas and tunable porosities. Made from metal nodes connected by organic linkers, the exact properties of a given MOF are determined by node and linker choice. MOFs hold promise for numerous applications, including gas capture and storage. M2(4,4'-dioxidobiphenyl-3,3'-dicarboxylate)-henceforth simply M2(dobpdc), with M = Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, or Zn-is regarded as one of the most promising structures for CO2 capture applications. Further modification of the MOF with diamines or tetramines can significantly boost gas species selectivity, a necessity for the ultra-dilute CO2 concentrations in the direct-air capture of CO2. There are countless potential diamines and tetramines, paving the way for a vast number of potential sorbents to be probed for CO2 adsorption properties. The number of amines and their configuration in the MOF pore are key drivers of CO2 adsorption capacity and kinetics, and so a validation of computational prediction of these quantities is required to suitably use computational methods in the discovery and screening of amine-functionalized sorbents. In this work, we study the predictive accuracy of density functional theory and related calculations on amine loading and configuration for one diamine and two tetramines. In particular, we explore the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE) functional and its formulation for solids (PBEsol) with and without the Grimme-D2 and Grimme-D3 pairwise corrections (PBE+D2/3 and PBEsol+D2/3), two revised PBE functionals with the Grimme-D2 and Grimme-D3 pairwise corrections (RPBE+D2/3 and revPBE+D2/3), and the nonlocal van der Waals correlation (vdW-DF2) functional. We also investigate a universal graph deep learning interatomic potential's (M3GNet) predictive accuracy for loading and configuration. These results allow us to identify a useful screening procedure for configuration prediction that has a coarse component for quick evaluation and a higher accuracy component for detailed analysis. Our general observation is that the neural network-based potential can be used as a high-level and rapid screening tool, whereas PBEsol+D3 gives a completely qualitatively predictive picture across all systems studied, and can thus be used for high accuracy motif predictions. We close by briefly exploring the predictions of relative thermal stability for the different functionals and dispersion corrections.

Abstract
The adsorption mechanisms of CO2 on macroporous cation exchange resin (MCER), D001 ion-exchange resin, and macroporous ion-exchange resin organic amine composite materials (MCER-DEA and D001-PEI) were studied by density functional theory (DFT). The adsorption energies and Mulliken atomic charges in the adsorption process were analyzed, indicating that CO2 on MCER and D001 were physisorbed. The adsorption heat of the adsorption process of MCER-DEA and D001-PEI was calculated by the Monte Carlo method, and it was found that the adsorption process of CO2 by MCER-DEA and D001-PEI was both physical adsorption and chemical adsorption. Besides, the chemical adsorption mechanism of CO2 by MCER-DEA and D001-PEI was investigated by analyzing the free energy barrier and the Gibbs free energy change of the involved chemical reactions and the results showed that the free energy barrier required for MCER-DEA to generate zwitterion was 26.23 kcal/mol, which is 1.74 times that of D001-PEI (15.04 kcal/mol); meanwhile, the free energy barriers of the deprotonation process of zwitterions in MCER-DEA and D001-PEI were 16.23 and 9.89 kcal/mol, respectively, indicating that D001-PEI chemically adsorbs CO2 and requires more energy than MCER-DEA chemical adsorption of CO2. D001-PEI is more conducive to the chemical adsorption of CO2. In addition, H2O molecules were incorporated on the polymer models to study the influence of humidity on the CO2 adsorption mechanism. The analysis revealed that the adsorption of CO2 slowed under humid conditions.

Abstract
Severe CO2 emissions has posed an increasingly alarming threat, motivating the development of efficient CO2 capture materials, one of the key parts of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). In this study, a series of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) named Sc-X (X = S, M, L) were constructed inspired by recorded MOFs, Zn-BPZ-SA and MFU-4l-Li. The corresponding isoreticular double-interpenetrating MOFs (Sc-X-IDI) were subsequently constructed via the introduction of isoreticular double interpenetration. Grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations were adopted at 298 K and 0.1-1.0 bar to comprehensively evaluate the CO2 capture and separation performances in Sc-X and Sc-X-IDI, with gas distribution, isothermal adsorption heat (Qst), and van der Waals (vdW)/Coulomb interactions. It is showed that isoreticular double interpenetration significantly improved the interactions between adsorbed gases and frameworks by precisely modulating pore sizes, particularly observed in Sc-M and Sc-M-IDI. Specifically, the Qst and Coulomb interactions exhibited a substantial increase, rising from 28.38 and 22.19 kJ mol-1 in Sc-M to 43.52 and 38.04 kJ mol-1 in Sc-M-IDI, respectively, at 298 K and 1.0 bar. Besides, the selectivity of CO2 over CH4/N2 was enhanced from 55.36/107.28 in Sc-M to 3308.61/7021.48 in Sc-M-IDI. However, the CO2 capture capacity is significantly influenced by the pore size. Sc-M, with a favorable pore size, exhibits the highest capture capacity of 15.86 mmol g-1 at 298 K and 1.0 bar. This study elucidated the impact of isoreticular double interpenetration on the CO2 capture performance in MOFs.

Abstract
Excessive CO2 emissions have contributed to global environmental issues, driving the development of CO2 capture adsorbents. Among various candidates, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered the most promising due to their unique microporous structure. Herein, a series of partially interpenetrated MOFs named UPC-XX were built to investigate the continuous enhancement in CO2 capture performance via synergistic effects from functional group, pore size, and steric-hindrance using theoretical calculations. It's showed that the introduction of functional groups improved the structure polarity and created more adsorption sites, thus, enhanced CO2 capture capacity. The pore size modification augments the exposure of adsorption sites to mitigate the negative impact of pore space and surface area reduction caused by the introduction of functional groups, thereby further increasing the CO2 capture capacity. The steric-hindrance effect optimized the adsorption sites distribution, which hasn't been considered in the previous two regulation strategies, thus, further increased the CO2 capture capacity. The results underscore UPC-MOFs as outstanding adsorbent materials, among the UPC-MOFs, UPC-OSO3-steric exhibited the highest CO2 capture capacity of 12.69 mmol/g with selectivities of 1142.41 (CO2 over N2) and 507.42 (CO2 over CH4) at 1.0 bar, 298 K. And the synergistic effect mechanisms of functional group, structure size, and steric hindrance were elucidated through theoretical calculations analyzing pore characteristics, gas distribution, isosteric heat, and van der Waals/Coulomb interactions.

Abstract
Oxidative dehydrogenative homo-coupling of amines to imines and cross-coupling of amines with alcohols to amides was achieved with high to moderate yields at room temperature in THF using Cu-MOF as an efficient and recyclable heterogeneous catalyst under mild conditions. Different primary benzyl amines and alcohols could be utilized for the synthesis of a wide variety of amides and imines. The Cu-MOF catalyst could be recycled and reused four times without loss of catalytic activity.

Abstract
A series of lanthanide coordination polymers [LnL(H2O)2] n [Ln = Pr (1), Nd (2), Sm (3), Eu (4), and Gd (5), H3L = N-(4-carboxy-benzyl)iminodiacetic acid] was hydrothermally prepared and structurally characterized. All the five compounds have been confirmed as 3D Ln-CPs with one-dimensional helical tunnels composed of four helical chains, although there are different coordination geometries around Ln3+. Enantiomeric helixes in 1-3, and absolute left-handed and right-handed helical chains in 4 and 5, respectively, lead to different tunnel spaces. Their conformations can also be featured by different space groups and unit cell dimensions. Photoluminescence measurement on 3 and 4 show characteristic emission peaks of Sm3+ and Eu3+ ions, respectively. The low-temperature heat capacity of 1-4 has been investigated in the temperature range of 1.9-300 K. Their heat capacity values are nearly equal below 10 K and display a crossover with the value order C p,m(2) > C p,m(1) ≈ C p,m(4) > C p,m(3) above 10 K. The measured heat capacities have been fitted, and the corresponding thermodynamic functions were consequently calculated based on the fitting parameters. The standard molar entropies at 298.15 K have been determined to be (415.71 ± 4.16), (451.32 ± 4.51), (308.53 ± 3.09), and (407.62 ± 4.08) J·mol-1·K-1 for 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively.

Abstract
The exquisite combination of ZnII and HoIII generated the highly robust [ZnHo(CO2)6(OH2)]-based heterometallic framework of {[ZnHo(TDP)(H2O)]·5H2O·3DMF} n (NUC-30, H6TDP = 2,4,6-tri(2',4'-dicarboxyphenyl)pyridine), which featured outstanding physicochemical properties, including honeycomb nanochannels, high porosity, large specific surface area, the coexistence of highly open Lewis acid-base sites, good thermal and chemical stability, and resistance to most organic solvents. Due to its extremely unsaturated metal tetra-coordinated Zn(ii) ions, hepta-coordinated Ho(iii) and high faveolate void volume (61.3%), the conversion rate of styrene oxide and CO2 into cyclic carbonates in the presence of 2 mol% activated NUC-30 and 5 mol% n-Bu4NBr reached 99% under the mild conditions of 1.0 MPa and 60 °C. Furthermore, the luminescence sensing experiments proved that NUC-30 could be used as a fast, sensitive and highly efficiency sensor for the detection of Fe3+ in aqueous solution. Therefore, these results prove that nanoporous MOFs assembled from pyridine-containing polycarboxylate ligands have wide applications, such as catalysis and as luminescent materials.
