Abstract
While the dithiolene-based N-heterocyclic silane (4) reacts with two equivalents of BX3 (X = Br, I) to give zwitterionic Lewis adducts 5 and 8, respectively, the parallel reaction of 4 with BCl3 results in 10, a dithiolene-substituted N-heterocyclic silane, via the Si-S bond cleavage. Unlike 5, the labile 8 may be readily converted to 9via BI3-mediated cleavage of the Si-N bond. The formation of 5 and 8 confirms that 4 uniquely possesses dual nucleophilic sites: (a) the terminal sulphur atom of the dithiolene moiety; and (b) the backbone carbon of the N-heterocyclic silane unit.

Abstract
Low-valent silicon compounds such as neutral silylenes display versatile reactivity for the activation of small molecules. In contrast, their anionic congeners silanides ([R3 Si- ]) have primarily been investigated for their nucleophilic reactivity. Here we show that incorporating a silanide center in a bicyclic cage structure allows for formal oxidative addition of polar element-hydrogen bonds (RX-H, R=aromatic residue, X=O, S, NH). The resulting hydrosilicates were isolated and characterized structurally and spectroscopically. Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations and experimental observations support an ionic mechanism for RX-H bond activation. Finally, the reactivity of the RS-H bond adduct was further investigated, revealing that it behaves as a Lewis pair upon facile heterolytic cleavage of the Si-S bond.

Abstract
The reaction of PhC(NtBu)2SiSi(SiMe3)3 (1) with Me3SiCH2Cl afforded an unsymmetrical sp2-sp3 disilene, 2, with concomitant elimination of Me3SiCl. The analogous reaction with PhC(NtBu)2SiCl resulted in the oxidative addition of the C-Cl bond at the Si(II) atom (3). The reactions of 2 with sulfur and selenium led to compounds with SiE (ES (4) and Se (5)) double bonds. Tellurium reacted differently with 2 and furnished a zwitterionic compound, 6.

Abstract
A formally neutral homoaromatic diboradisilacyclobutene was prepared and structurally characterized via the reduction of borylaminobromosilane with potassium graphite, which represents the first neutral boron and silicon mixed analogue of the homocyclopropenylium ion. Single-crystal X-ray analyses revealed a folded four-membered B2Si2 ring (26.2°) and a remarkably short transannular B-Si distance of 2.306(3) Å. DFT calculations showed that two π-electrons delocalize over the BSi2 moiety. Both structural feature and DFT calculations show the significant 2π-homoaromatic nature of the diboradisilacyclobutene. Furthermore, diboradisilacyclobutene reacted readily with CuCl or HCl to afford the diboradisilacyclobutanes.

Abstract
The reaction of the dilithium salt of the enantiopure (S)-BINOL (1,1'-bi-2-naphthol) with two equivalents of the amidinate-stabilized chlorosilylene [LPh SiCl] (LPh =PhC(NtBu)2 ) led to the formation of the first example of a chiral cyclic silene species comprising an (S)-BINOL ligand. The reactivity of the Si=C bond was investigated by reaction with elemental sulfur, CO2 and HCl. The reaction with S8 led to a Si=C bond cleavage and concomitantly to a ring-opened product with imine and silanethione functional groups. The reaction with CO2 resulted in the cleavage of the CO2 molecule into a carbonyl group and an isolated O atom, while a new stereocenter is formed in a highly selective manner. According to DFT calculations, the [2+2] cycloaddition product is the key intermediate. Further reactivity studies of the chiral cyclic silene with HCl resulted in a stereoselective addition to the Si=C bond, while the fully selective formation of two stereocenters was achieved. The quantitative stereoselective addition of CO2 and HCl to a Si=C bond is unprecedented.

Abstract
Herein, we have undertaken the synthesis and investigated the reactivity of a 6-membered saturated NHC borane adduct (1). Direct electrophilic halogenation of 1 with a stoichiometric amount of I2 led to NHC boryl iodides, 6-SIDipp·BH2I (2) and 6-SIDipp·BHI2 (3), which were further reacted with various nucleophiles to give novel 6-SIDipp based mono and disubstituted boranes with OTf (4 and 6) or ONO2 (5 and 7) functional groups. The addition of Br2/H2O to 1 smoothly results in a dihydroxyborenium cation (8).

Abstract
In our previous communication, we have reported the synthesis of a new chlorogermylene (B) featuring a pyridylpyrrolido ligand. This study details the preparation of a series of new germylenes and stannylenes starting from B. A transmetallation reaction between B and SnCl2 led to the analogous chlorostannylene (1) with the simultaneous elimination of GeCl2. This is a very unusual example of transmetallation between two elements of the same group. The preparation of 1via lithiation led to the formation of 2 as a side product, where the ortho C-H bond of the pyridine ring was activated and functionalized with a nBu moiety. Subsequently, B and 1 were used as precursors to generate germylene (4) and stannylene (5) featuring tris(trimethylsilyl)silyl (hypersilyl) moieties. We also prepared tetrafluoropyridyl germylene (6) by reacting 4 with C5F5N with the simultaneous elimination of (Me3Si)3SiF by utilizing the fluoride affinity of the silicon atom. As there is scarcity of Sn(II) compounds as single-site catalysts, we investigated 5 as a catalyst towards the hydroboration of aldehydes, ketones, alkenes and alkynes. All the compounds have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and by state of the art spectroscopic studies.

Abstract
Disilenes with differently coordinated silicon atoms are not known. Here, we have shown the high yield synthesis of a range of disilenes (2-4 and 6) upon reaction of a hypersilyl silylene PhC(NtBu)2 SiSi(SiMe3 )3 (1) with aliphatic chlorophosphines. The most striking characteristic of these disilenes is the presence of two differently coordinated Si atoms (one is three-coordinated, the other four-coordinated). The analogous reaction with Ph2 PCl did not afford the desired disilene, but, surprisingly, led to the first tetraphosphinosilane (8). DFT calculations were performed to understand the bonding in disilenes and differences in reactivity of the complexes.

Abstract
The reaction of IDipp with C5F5N led to functionalization of all three carbon atoms of the imidazole ring with HF2- as the counter-anion (1). Reactivity with 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoropyridine gives only C-F bond activation leaving C-H bonds intact (5b). The reaction of SIDipp with C5F5N in the presence of BF3 afforded the ring cleavage product (3). Analogous reactions with silylene led to oxidative addition at the Si(ii) center.
