Abstract
The development of low-cost and efficient photocatalysts to achieve water splitting to hydrogen (H2) is highly desirable but remains challenging. Herein, we design and synthesize two porous polymers (Co-Salen-P and Fe-Salen-P) by covalent bonding of salen metal complexes and pyrene chromophores for photocatalytic H2 evolution. The catalytic results demonstrate that the two polymers exhibit excellent catalytic performance for H2 generation in the absence of additional noble-metal photosensitizers and cocatalysts. Particularly, the H2 generation rate of Co-Salen-P reaches as high as 542.5 μmol g-1 h-1, which is not only 6 times higher than that of Fe-Salen-P but also higher than a large amount of reported Pt-assisted photocatalytic systems. Systematic studies show that Co-Salen-P displays faster charge separation and transfer efficiencies, thereby accounting for the significantly improved photocatalytic activity. This study provides a facile and efficient way to fabricate high-performance photocatalysts for H2 production.

Abstract
Access to clean drinking water is a basic requirement, and eliminating pollutants from wastewater is important for saving water ecosystems. The porous structure and surface characteristics of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can function as a perfect scaffold for removing toxic compounds from wastewater. Porphyrins are promising building blocks for constructing MOFs. Porphyrin-based metal-organic frameworks (P-MOFs) have been fabricated using porphyrin ligands, metal clusters, or ions. These materials can harvest light from a wide region of the solar spectrum, and their framework morphology and physicochemical properties can be controlled by changing their peripheral subunits or metal ions. These porous crystalline materials have generated interest because of their distinctive characteristics, including large permanent porosity, interesting surface morphology, broad conformational diversity, high photostability, and semiconducting nature. This article discusses the recent progress and usefulness of P-MOFs. The fabrication procedures of P-MOFs are discussed, followed by the adsorptive and photocatalytic removal of contaminants from wastewater. The relationships between the geometries of P-MOFs and their light-harvesting and charge-transfer mechanisms for the photocatalytic degradation of pollutants are highlighted. Finally, some future perspectives and obstacles in the photodegradation usage of P-MOFs are discussed, along with feasible research directions to standardize efficient photocatalysts for improved photodegradation for water treatment.

Abstract
In this report, a 2D MOF nanosheet derived Pd single-atom catalyst, denoted as Pd-MOF, was fabricated and examined for visible light photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). This Pd-MOF can provide a remarkable photocatalytic activity (a H2 production rate of 21.3 mmol/gh in the visible range), which outperforms recently reported Pt-MOFs (with a H2 production rate of 6.6 mmol/gh) with a similar noble metal loading. Notably, this high efficiency of Pd-MOF is not due to different chemical environment of the metal center, nor by changes in the spectral light absorption. The higher performance of the Pd-MOF in comparison to the analogue Pt-MOF is attributed to the longer lifetime of the photogenerated electron-hole pairs and higher charge transfer efficiency.

Abstract
The meaningful and rational engineering of porphyrin-based catalysts with multimetallic active sites is very attractive toward photocatalytic hydrogen generation from water decomposition. Herein, three metal organic frameworks (MOFs) based on meso-tetrakis(4-carboxylphenyl)porphyrin (TCPP) were successfully constructed under solvothermal conditions. As a novel architectured photocatalyst (triclinic, C48H29N4O10PdYb), Pd/Yb-PMOF manifested diverse metal active sites, suitable bandgap positions, prominent visible light-collecting capacity, excellent carrier transfer efficiency, and obvious synergistic effect between ytterbium and palladium ions. Consequently, such a bimetallic MOF exhibited strengthened photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance. Concretely, its hydrogen generation efficiency was up to 3196.42 μmol g-1 h-1 with 2 wt % Pt as a cocatalyst under visible light illumination. Our work demonstrates a promising strategy for highly efficient visible-light catalysts based on bimetallic-trimmed porphyrin MOFs.

Abstract
A series of 2D M(Cu, Zn, Co, and Mn)-TCPP MOFs/TiO2 binary nanocomposites (TCPP = tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin) were constructed by solvothermal in situ loading of flaky TiO2 on the surface of 2D metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). The influence of different coordination metals on the catalytic activity was studied, and it was found that the 2D Cu-TCPP MOFs/TiO2 nanocomposite exhibited the best photo-Fenton performance. The superior property can be attributed to the high absorption coefficient and ultrathin two-dimensional structure of the 2D Cu-TCPP MOFs nanosheets. Meanwhile, the 2D Cu-TCPP MOFs/TiO2 II heterostructure can effectively promote the separation and transfer of photoformed carriers. Moreover, under visible irradiation, the optimized 2D Cu-TCPP MOFs/TiO2 composite can convert 99.9% of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) within 60 min with methanol as the hole scavenger at pH 3.14. Also, the photocatalytic performance of 2D Cu-TCPP MOFs/TiO2 was maintained after five reaction cycles. Furthermore, the proposed visible-light-driven photocatalysis mechanism of the 2D Cu-MOFs/TiO2 composite was reasonably derived according to experimental results. This study demonstrates the potential of building efficient TiO2-based visible light photocatalysts with 2D metal-porphyrin MOFs.

Abstract
CsPbX3 perovskite nanocrystal (NC) is considered as an excellent optical material and is widely applied in optoelectronics. However, its poor water stability impedes its study in enzyme-like activity, and further inhibits its application in biomimetic cascade catalysis. Herein, for the first time, the oxidase-like and ascorbate oxidase-like activities of an amphiphilic polymer capped CsPbX3 are demonstrated, and its catalytic mechanism is further explored. Furthermore, an all-nanozyme cascade system (multifunctional CsPbBr3 @Zr-metal organic framework (Zr-MOF) and Prussian blue as oxidase-like and peroxidase-like nanozyme) is constructed with a portable paper-based device for realizing the dual-mode (ratiometric fluorescence and colorimetric) detection of ascorbic acid in a point-of-care (POC) fashion. This is the first report on the utilization of all-inorganic CsPbX3 perovskite NC in biomimetic cascade catalysis, which opens a new avenue for POC clinical disease diagnosis.

Abstract
Efficient transfer of charge carriers through a fast transport pathway is crucial to excellent photocatalytic reduction performance in solar-driven CO2 reduction, but it is still challenging to effectively modulate the electronic transport pathway between photoactive motifs by feasible chemical means. In this work, we propose a thermally induced strategy to precisely modulate the fast electron transport pathway formed between the photoactive motifs of a porphyrin metal-organic framework using thorium ion with large ionic radius and high coordination number as the coordination-labile metal node. As a result, the stacking pattern of porphyrin molecules in the framework before and after the crystal transformations has changed dramatically, which leads to significant differences in the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers in MOFs. The rate of photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to CO by IHEP-22(Co) reaches 350.9 μmol·h-1·g-1, which is 3.60 times that of IHEP-21(Co) and 1.46 times that of IHEP-23(Co). Photoelectrochemical characterizations and theoretical calculations suggest that the electron transport channels formed between porphyrin molecules inhibit the recombination of photogenerated carriers, resulting in high performance for photocatalytic CO2 reduction. The interaction mechanism of CO2 with IHEP-22(Co) was clarified by using in-situ electron paramagnetic resonance, in-situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy, in-situ extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy, and theoretical calculations. These results provide a new method to regulate the efficient separation and migration of charge carriers in CO2 reduction photocatalysts and will be helpful to guide the design and synthesis of photocatalysts with superior performance for the production of solar fuels.

Abstract
We report herein the surface decoration of a water-soluble free-base porphyrin, namely, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(1-methyl-4-pyridinio)porphyrin-tetra(p-toluenesulfonate) (H2TMPyP), over three different zirconium-based metal-organic frameworks of different linker structure and functionality; namely UiO66, UiO66-NH2, and MIP-202, via self-assembly. The synthesized MOFs along with the resulting complexes have been characterized via spectroscopic and analytical techniques (XRD, FT-IR, TEM, N2 adsorption/desorption, and laser scanning confocal microscopy). The self-assembly of H2TMPyP with the examined three MOFs was observed by using the steady-state absorption and fluorescence, as well as the fluorescence lifetime studies. It was evident that the highest complex interaction was recorded between porphyrin and UiO-66-NH2 compared with the lowest interactions between porphyrin and MIP-202. This is in good agreement with the high surface area and pore volume of UiO-66 (1100 m2 g-1 and 0.68 cm3 g-1) and compared to that of MIP-202 (94 m2 g-1 and 0.26 cm3 g-1). The photocatalytic activities of the three porphyrin entities immobilized zirconium-based MOFs were compared toward methyl orange dye degradation from aqueous solution under visible light irradiation (λex = 430 nm). The photocatalytic studies render the fabrication of the self-assembled H2TMPyP@UiO-66-NH2 composite as a promising material for dye degradation from polluted wastewater.

Abstract
A novel three-dimensional lanthanide porphyrin-based MOF (Nd-PMOFs) was synthesized by using tetracarboxyphenyl porphyrin as the ligand and the lanthanide Nd as the coordination metal. Its specific crystal structure information was obtained by single-crystal diffraction with the space group C2/c and the empirical formula C72H45N6Nd2O15.25. This new Nd porphyrin-based MOF with an organic framework formed by a unique coordination method enables the effective separation of photogenerated electrons and holes under photoluminescence, giving it excellent photocatalytic property which could be verified by the characterization data. The photocatalytic performance was examined by taking tert-butyl hydroperoxide as the oxidant and Nd-PMOFs as the catalyst for photocatalytic oxidation of styrene to benzaldehyde with 91.4% conversion and 81.2% benzaldehyde selectivity under optimal reactions, which surpasses most of the results reported in the literature. Several styrenes with other substituents were screened to explore the general applicability of Nd-PMOF for photocatalysis of styrene, among which Nd-PMOFs also exhibited excellent photocatalytic performance. This work offers the possibility to apply lanthanide organometallic frameworks, which are widely used in fluorescent materials, to photocatalysis. In addition, it also provides a new method for the catalytic generation of benzaldehyde from styrene that is consistent with the needs of modern green development.

Abstract
Zirconium-based porphyrin metal organic frameworks (Zr-PMOFs) had attracted attention in the field of photocatalysis in recent years. However, the recombination of photogenerated carriers of monomer PMOF limits its performance of photocatalytic organic pollutants degradation. Metal sulfide has a suitable visible band gap, which can form a heterojunction with MOF materials to enhance the photocatalytic efficiency of MOF. Therefore, a typical metal sulfide semiconductor ZnIn2S4 (ZIS) was introduced into a Zr-MOF (MOF-525) by solvothermal method to prepare a series of ZIS/MOF-525 (ZIS/MOF-525-1, ZIS/MOF-525-2, ZIS/MOF-525-3 and ZIS/MOF-525-4) composite photocatalysts in this work. The results of characterization analysis, optical analysis and electrochemical analysis showed that the interface of ZIS/MOF-525 formed a typical type-II heterojunction, which accelerated the electron transport rate and effectively inhibited the recombination of photogenerated e- and h+ in MOF-525. The optimal removal efficiency of tetracycline (TC) by ZIS/MOF-525-3 (the mass of MOF-525 is 30 mg) reached 93.8% under 60 min visible light illumination, which was greater than that of pure MOF-525 (37.2%) and ZnIn2S4 (70.0%), and it still maintained good stability after five cycles reusing experiment. This work provides feasible insight for the preparation of novel and efficient PMOF-based photocatalysts in the future.

Abstract
A porphyrin-based covalent organic framework (COF), namely Porph-UOZ-COF (UOZ stands for the University of Zabol), has been designed and prepared via the condensation reaction of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)porphyrin (DHPP) with 1,4-benzenediboronic acid (DBBA), under the solvothermal condition. The solid was characterized by spectroscopic, microscopic, and powder X-ray diffraction techniques. The resultant multifunctional COF revealed an outstanding performance in catalyzing a one-pot tandem selective benzylic C-H photooxygenation/Knoevenagel condensation reaction in the absence of additives or metals under visible-LED-light irradiation. Notably, the catalytic activity of the COF was superior to individual organic counterparts and the COF was both stable and reusable for four consecutive runs. The present approach illustrates the potential of COFs as promising metal-free (photo) catalysts for the development of tandem reactions.

Abstract
Bacteria, as the most abundant living organisms, have always been a threat to human life until the development of antibiotics. However, with the wide use of antibiotics over a long time, bacteria have gradually gained tolerance to antibiotics, further aggravating threat to human beings and environmental safety significantly. In recent decades, new bacteria-killing methods based on metal ions, hyperthermia, free radicals, physical pricks, and the coordination of several multi-mechanisms have attracted increasing attention. Consequently, multiple types of new antibacterial agents have been developed. Among them, metal organic frameworks (MOFs) appear to play an increasingly important role. The unique characteristics of MOFs make them suitable multiple-functional platforms. By selecting the appropriate metastable coordination bonds, MOFs can act as reservoirs and release antibacterial metal ions or organic linkers; by constructing a porous structure, MOFs can act as carriers for multiple types of agents and achieve slow and sustained release; and by designing their composition and the pore structure precisely, MOFs can be endowed with properties to produce heat and free radicals under stimulation. Importantly, in combination with other materials, MOFs can act as a platform to kill bacteria effectively through the synergistic effect of multiple types of mechanisms. In this review, we focus on the recent development of MOF-based antibacterial agents, which are classified according to their antibacterial mechanisms.

Abstract
The increasing energy demand and environmental issues caused by the over-exploitation of fossil fuels render the need for renewable, clean, and environmentally benign energy sources unquestionably urgent. The zero-emission energy carrier, H2 is an ideal alternative to carbon-based fuels especially when it is generated photocatalytically from water. Additionally, the photocatalytic conversion of CO2 into chemical fuels can reduce the CO2 emissions and have a positive environmental and economic impact. Inspired by natural photosynthesis, plenty of artificial photocatalytic schemes based on porphyrinoids have been investigated. This review covers the recent advances in photocatalytic H2 production and CO2 reduction systems containing porphyrin or phthalocyanine derivatives. The unique properties of porphyrinoids enable their utilization both as chromophores and as catalysts. The homogeneous photocatalytic systems are initially described, presenting the various approaches for the improvement of photosensitizing activity and the enhancement of catalytic performance at the molecular level. On the other hand, for the development of the heterogeneous systems, numerous methods were employed such as self-assembled supramolecular porphyrinoid nanostructures, construction of organic frameworks, combination with 2D materials and adsorption onto semiconductors. The dye sensitization on semiconductors opened the way for molecular-based dye-sensitized photoelectrochemical cells (DSPECs) devices based on porphyrins and phthalocyanines. The research in photocatalytic systems as discussed herein remains challenging since there are still many limitations making them unfeasible to be used at a large scale application before finding a large-scale application.

Abstract
The facile and straightforward fabrication of NIR-responsive theranostic materials with high biocompatibility is still an unmet need for nanomedicine applications. Here, we used a natural photosensitizer, iron chlorophyll (Chl/Fe), for the J-aggregate template-assisted synthesis of Au@Chl/Fe nanorods with high stability. The assembly of a high amount of Chl/Fe J-aggregate onto the Au surface enabled red-NIR fluorescence for monitoring and tracking residential tumor lesions. The Chl/Fe moieties condensed on the nanorods could change the redox balance by the photon induction of reactive oxygen species and attenuate iron-mediated lipid peroxidation by inducing a Fenton-like reaction. After conjugation with carboxyphenylboronic acid (CPBA) to target the glycoprotein receptor on T24 bladder cancer (BC) cells, the enhanced delivery of Au@Chl/Fe-CPBA nanorods could induce over 85% cell death at extremely low concentrations of 0.16 ppm[Au] at 660 nm and 1.6 ppm[Au] at 785 nm. High lipid peroxidation, as shown by BODIPY staining and GSH depletion, was observed when treated T24 cells were exposed to laser irradiation, suggesting that preliminary photodynamic therapy (PDT) can revitalize Fenton-like reaction-mediated chemodynamic ferroptosis in T24 cells. We also manipulated the localized administration of Au@Chl-Fe combined with PDT at restricted regions in orthotopic tumor-bearing mice to cure malignant BC successfully without recurrence. By intravesical instillation of the Au@Chl/Fe-CPBA nanorods, this localized treatment could prevent the material from entering the systemic circulation, thus minimizing systemic toxicity. Upon activating NIR-PDT-elicited chemodynamic therapy, ultrasound imaging revealed almost complete tumor remission. Anti-tumor efficacy and survival benefit were achieved with a green photosensitizer.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a new class of porous crystalline materials being used as photocatalysts for efficient pollutant removal and environmental remediation. In this study, the TMU-32 MOF was synthesized as an effective photocatalyst for the photodegradation of tetracycline (TC) with 96% efficiency in 60 min under visible light. The high photocatalytic activity of the TMU-32 MOF is mainly due to its large specific surface area, which is beneficial for promoting both the adsorption of TC and the separation of the photoinduced charges. Moreover, its desired crystallinity makes it a semiconductor with an appropriate band gap energy. Next, a composite of the TMU-32 MOF with Fe3O4 nanoparticles (as Fe3O4@TMU-32) was prepared as a magnetically recyclable photocatalyst. The results showed that the photocatalytic activity of the Fe3O4@TMU-32 nanocomposite is slightly lower (68% degradation of TC within 60 min) than that of TMU-32 toward TC degradation since Fe3O4 nanoparticles are not acting as a photocatalyst and are used only to make the host photocatalyst (here, TMU-32) magnetically separable. The effects of the photocatalyst concentration and recyclability on the photodegradation of TC were studied under similar conditions. We found that the Fe3O4@TMU-32 composite is easily recycled without a significant loss of photocatalytic activity after being used several times, indicating the stability of the photocatalyst. Finally, a density functional theory study was also conducted to investigate the structural and electronic properties such as the band gap energy and density of states of the TMU-32 MOF and the Fe3O4@TMU-32 composite. Our computational results are in good agreement with the experimental ones. A photocatalytic degradation mechanism was finally proposed under visible-light photoirradiation.

Abstract
Titanium metal-organic frameworks (Ti-MOFs), as an appealing type of artificial photocatalysts, have shown great potentials in the field of solar energy conversion due to their well-studied photo-redox activity similar to TiO 2 and good optical responsiveness of linkers serving as the antenna to absorb visible-light. Although enormous efforts have been dedicated to developing Ti-MOFs with high photocatalytic activity, their solar energy conversion performances are still poor. Herein, a covalent-integrated strategy has been implemented to construct a series of multivariate Ti-MOF/COF hybrid materials, PdTCPP⸦PCN-415(NH 2 )/TpPa (composites 1, 2, and 3), featuring excellent visible-light utilization, suitable band gap, and high surface area for photocatalytic H 2 production. Notably, the resulting composites demonstrated remarkably enhanced visible-light-driven photocatalytic H 2 evolution performance, especially for the composite 2 with the maximum H 2 evolution rate of 13.98 mmol g -1 h -1 (turn-over frequency (TOF) = 227 h -1 ), which is much higher than the prototypical counterparts, PdTCPP⸦PCN-415(NH 2 ) (0.21 mmol g -1 h -1 ) and TpPa (6.51 mmol g -1 h -1 ). Our work thereby suggests a new approach to develop highly efficient photocatalysts for photocatalytic H 2 evolution reaction and beyond.

Abstract
The synergistic effects involving surface adsorption and photocatalytic degradation commonly play significant roles in the removal of persistent synthetic organics from wastewater in the case of porous semiconductors. Inspired by the visible-light harvesting advantages of porphyrin-based MOFs, a capsule-like bimetallic porphyrin-based MOF (PCN-222(Ni/Hf)) has been successfully constructed through a facile hydrothermal method. In which, the Hf (IV) ions were exactly bonded to the carboxyl groups substituted on the porphyrin rings, meanwhile the Ni (II) ions were finely bonded to the -N inside the porphyrin rings. The adsorption/photocatalytic performances were assessed by using four persistent dyes including rhodamine B (RhB), basic violet 14 (BV14), crystal violet, and acid black 210 (AB210) as the target substances, and enhanced total removal efficiency was obtained by the bimetallic PCN-222(Ni/Hf) in comparison with that of single PCN-222(Hf). The electrochemical analyses and the sacrificial agent capture experiments were carried out to elucidate the photocatalytic mechanism, and the adsorption/photocatalytic stability of PCN-222(Ni/Hf) is also investigated. The work has broadened the applications of porphyrin-based MOFs in the removal of organics by combining their excellent surface adsorption capacity and photocatalytic activities.
