Abstract
One tetrahedral and two trigonal prismatic cages with π-basic Au3(pyrazolate)3 faces were obtained by connection of pre-formed gold complexes via dynamic covalent imine chemistry. The parallel arrangement of the Au3(pyrazolate)3 complexes in the prismatic cages augments the interaction with π-acids, as demonstrated by the encapsulation of polyhalogenated aromatic compounds. The tetrahedral cage was found to act as a potent receptor for fullerenes. The structures of the three cages, as well as the structures of adducts with C60 and C70, could be established by X-ray crystallography.

Abstract
We present the coordination-driven self-assembly of three tetranuclear metallacycles containing intracyclic NH2, OH, or OMe functionalities through the combination of various isophthalic acid building blocks with a divinylphenylene diruthenium complex. All new complexes of this study were characterized by means of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, ultrahigh-resolution ESI mass spectrometry, cyclic and square wave voltammetry and, in two cases, X-ray diffraction. The hydroxy functionalized macrocycle 4-BOH and the corresponding half-cycle 2-OH stand out, as their intracyclic OH···O hydrogen bonds stabilize their mixed-valent one- (2-OH, 4-BOH) and three-electron-oxidized states (4-BOH). Despite sizable redox splittings between all one-electron waves, the mixed-valent monocations and trications do not exhibit any intervalence charge-transfer band, assignable to through-bond electronic coupling, but nevertheless display distinct IR band shifts of their charge-sensitive Ru(CO) tags. We ascribe these seemingly contradicting observations to a redox-induced shuffling of the OH···O hydrogen bond(s) to the remaining, more electron-rich, reduced redox site.

Abstract
Among the d10 coinage metal complexes, cyclic trinuclear complexes (CTCs) or trinuclear metallocycles with intratrimer metal-metal interactions are fascinating and important metal-organic or organometallic π-acids/bases. Each CTC of characteristic planar or near-planar trimetal nine-membered rings consists of Au(I)/Ag(I)/Cu(I) cations that linearly coordinate with N and/or C atoms in ditopic anionic bridging ligands. Since the first discovery of Au(I) CTC in the 1970s, research of CTCs has involved several fundamental areas, including noncovalent and metallophilic interaction, excimer/exciplex, acid-base chemistry, metalloaromaticity, supramolecular assemblies, and host/guest chemistry. These allow CTCs to be embraced in a wide range of innovative potential applications that include chemical sensing, semiconducting, gas and liquid adsorption/separation, catalysis, full-color display, and solid-state lighting. This review aims to provide a historic and comprehensive summary on CTCs and their extension to higher nuclearity complexes and coordination polymers from the perspectives of synthesis, structure, theoretical insight, and potential applications.

Abstract
Silica-encapsulated nanospheres of water-soluble ferrocene complexes WFCs@SiO2 and WFCs@SiO2@glutaraldehyde (GA) were first synthesized by a facile inverse-microemulsion method. The surface functional groups, particle size, and morphologies of nanospheres were characterized by IR spectra, UV-vis absorption spectra, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and SEM images. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction was used to confirm the molecular structure of free ferrocenyl-pyrazol ligand (L) and three WFCs, namely, [Ni(C22H14F6FeN4O4)(H2O)4] (5a), [Mg(C22H14F6FeN4O4)(H2O)4]·3H2O (5b), and [Ba(C22H14F6FeN4O4)(H2O)3] (5c). The electrochemical properties of 5a-5c were explored by cyclic voltammetry. The WFCs-loading capacities of 5a-5c in WFCs@SiO2 were found to be 38.4, 38.2, and 38.1 μg/mg, respectively. Cell studies under two drug delivery modes (free diffusion and endocytosis) were carried out by MTT cell-survival assays and morphological observation of HepG2 cells. It's interesting that the cytotoxicity of WFCs against HepG2 was increased by applying silica nanocarriers. Compared to WFCs@SiO2, the modification of GA on the spherical surface provided not only the better water-dispersity but also additional functional groups for further modification of other pharmacophores. The novel nanocarrier system for WFC delivery present a novel concept-of-proof method to protect varieties of affordable metal-based anticancer agents in physiological conditions and provided experimental basis for future studies focusing on drug delivery of other WFCs.
