Abstract
The phenoxyl radical binding copper complexes have been widely developed and their detailed geometric and electronic structures have been clarified. While many one-electron oxidized CuII-phenolate complexes have been reported previously, recent studies of the Cu-phenolate complexes proceed toward elucidation of the complexes with other oxidation states, such as the phenoxyl radical binding CuI complexes and CuIV-phenolate complexes in the formal oxidation state. This Perspective focuses on new aspects of the properties and reactivities of various Cu-phenolate and Cu-phenoxyl radical complexes with emphasis on the relationship between geometric and electronic structures.

Abstract
Novel isomorphous tetranuclear complexes, [(dppf)Cu(μ3 ,η2 : 2 : 2 -E2 {CpMo(CO)2 }2 ]BF4 [E=P (1), As (4), Sb (5), (dppf=1,1'-bis-(diphenylphosphino)-ferrocene)] and [(dppf)Cu(μ3 ,η2 : 2 : 2 -PE{CpMo(CO)2 }2 ]BF4 [E=As (2), Sb(3)] were synthesized from the reactions between [(dppf)Cu(MeCN)2 ][BF4 ] and tetrahedral molybdenum complexes containing unsubstituted homo- and hetero-diatomic group-15 elements [(μ,η2 : 2 -E2 {CpMo(CO)2 }2 ] [E=P (A), As (D), Sb (E)] and [(μ,η2 : 2 -PE{CpMo(CO)2 }2 ] [E=As (B), Sb (C)], respectively. In all these products, the {Mo2 E2 } or {Mo2 PE} moieties coordinate the Cu(I) center via a rare side-on η2 -coordination mode. The X-ray structure analyses of [(dppf)Cu(μ3 ,η2 : 2 : 1 -PSb{CpMo(CO)2 }2 ][BF4 ] demonstrate, for the first time, the utilization of an η1 -coordination mode for the ligand complex C to coordinate to the Cu(I) center. All the products were characterized by X-ray crystallography, NMR and IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. Electrochemical studies also revealed the formation of 1-5, and, further, to understand the structure and bonding of the products, theoretical calculations using density functional theory (DFT) were conducted.

Abstract
Organometallic complexes are frequently deposited on solid surfaces, but little is known about how the resulting complex-solid interactions alter their properties. Here, a series of complexes of the type Cu(dppf)(Lx)+ (dppf = 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene, Lx = mono- and bidentate ligands) were synthesized, physisorbed, ion-exchanged, or covalently immobilized on solid surfaces and investigated by 31P MAS NMR spectroscopy. Complexes adsorbed on silica interacted weakly and were stable, while adsorption on acidic γ-Al2O3 resulted in slow complex decomposition. Ion exchange into mesoporous Na-[Al]SBA-15 resulted in magnetic inequivalence of 31P nuclei verified by 31P-31P RFDR and 1H-31P FSLG HETCOR. DFT calculations verified that a MeCN ligand dissociates upon ion exchange. Covalent immobilization via organic linkers as well as ion exchange with bidentate ligands both lead to rigidly bound complexes that cause broad 31P CSA tensors. We thus demonstrate how the interactions between complexes and functional surfaces determine and alter the stability of complexes. The applied Cu(dppf)(Lx)+ complex family members are identified as suitable solid-state NMR probes for investigating the influence of support surfaces on deposited inorganic complexes.

Abstract
The odd-electron compounds [M(bpy)2(L1)](ClO4) M = Ru ([1](ClO4)) or Os ([2](ClO4)), and the even-electron species [M(bpy)2(H2L2)](ClO4)2, M = Ru ([3](ClO4)2) or Os ([4](ClO4)2) were obtained from pyrene-4,5-dione, L1, or 4,5-diaminopyrene, H4L2, and were characterised structurally, electrochemically and spectroscopically. Experimental and computational analysis (TD-DFT) revealed rather different electronic structures and spin distributions of the paramagnetic monocations 1+-4+. EPR investigations and electronic absorption studies exhibit increasing metal contributions to the singly occupied MO along the series 1+ < 3+ < 4+ < 2+, illustrated by g value and long-wavelength absorbance. In addition to variations of the metal (Ru,Os) and the donor atoms (O,NH) the extension of the π system of the semiquinone-type ligand has a large effect on the electronic structure of the paramagnetic cations.

Abstract
Slightly modified ligand designs in diruthenium setups have major impacts on the reactivity/stability of coordination complexes. The 1,2-bis(2-hydroxyphenyl)ethane-1,2-dione bridge is also potentially redox non-innocent.

Abstract
Metalloenzymes use earth-abundant non-noble metals to perform high-fidelity transformations in the biological world. To ensure chemical efficiency, metalloenzymes have acquired evolutionary reactivity-enhancing tools. Among these, the entatic state model states that a strongly distorted geometry induced by ligands around a metal center gives rise to an energized structure called entatic state, strongly improving the reactivity. However, the original definition refers both to the transfer of electrons or chemical groups, whereas the chemical application of this concept in synthetic systems has mostly focused on electron transfer, therefore eluding chemical transformations. Here we report that a highly strained redox-active ligand enables a copper complex to perform catalytic nitrogen- and carbon-group transfer in as fast as 2 min, thus exhibiting a strong increase in reactivity compared with its unstrained analogue. This report combines two reactivity-enhancing features from metalloenzymes, entasis and redox cofactors, applied to group-transfer catalysis. We design a catalyst interfacing two reactivity-enhancing tools from metalloenzymes This work merges redox-active cofactors and entatic state reactivity The modifications in the coordination sphere lead to enhanced catalytic behavior These results open perspectives in bioinspired catalysis and group-transfer reactions

Abstract
By the solvothermal reactions of 2,5-bis(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)terephthalic acid (H2L) with transition-metal ions, two novel polymeric complexes, namely, poly[diaqua[μ4-2,5-bis(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)terephthalato]cobalt(II)], [Co(C12H6N6O4)(H2O)2]n, (1), and poly[[diaqua[μ4-2,5-bis(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)terephthalato]nickel(II)] dihydrate], {[Ni(C12H6N6O4)(H2O)2]·2H2O}n, (2), were isolated. Both polymers have been characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The complexes have similar two-dimensional layered structures and coordination modes. Furthermore, the two-dimensional layered structures bear distinct intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions and π-π stacking interactions to form two different three-dimensional supramolecular networks based on 44-subnets. The structural variation depends on the nature of the metal cations. The results of variable-temperature magnetization measurements (χMT-T and χM-1-T) show that complexes (1) and (2) display antiferromagnetic behaviour.
