Abstract
The development of Zn-based phosphorescent materials, associated with a ligand-centered (LC) transition, is extremely limited. Herein, we demonstrated dual emissions including fluorescence and phosphorescence in luminescent tetranuclear Zn(II) clusters [Zn4LI4(μ3-OMe)2X2] (HLI = methyl-5-iode-3-methoxysalicylate; X = I, Br, Cl), incorporating iodine-substituted ligands. Single-crystal X-ray structural analyses and variable-temperature emission spectra studies revealed the presence of iodine substitutions, and intermolecular halogen interactions produced the internal/external heavy-atom effects and yielded strong green phosphorescence with a long emission lifetime (λmax = 510-522 nm, Φem = 0.28-0.47, τav = 0.78-0.95 ms, at 77 K). This work provided a new example that the introduction of halogen interactions is an advantageous approach for inducing phosphorescence in fluorescent metal complexes.

Abstract
Luminescent materials typically emit their fluorescence or phosphorescence at a specific wavelength with different excitation energies via the so-called Kasha's rule. If fluorescence or phosphorescence emission via anti-Kasha's rule could be achieved, it will hold great promise for applications in many fields. In this work, we report the synthesis and characterization of new metal-organic halide materials with dual emission of efficient room-temperature phosphorescence and fluorescence, which obey anti-Kasha's rule. Here, three emitting metal-organic halides with formula [ZnX2(bidpe)] (X = Cl for 1, X = Br for 2, X = I for 3, bidpe = 4,4'-bis(imidazol-1-yl)diphenyl ether) were prepared and their photophysical properties were investigated. The complexes exhibit dual emission of fluorescence and phosphorescence via anti-Kasha's rule, and their RTP properties of resultant products are modulated by halide substitution synthesis. DFT calculations indicate that the singlet states exhibit a halide-ligand charge transfer (XLCT) character while the triplet states are dominated by the intraligand π-π* transitions. Furthermore, the multilevel information encryption and anticounterfeiting applications are developed by virtue of anti-Kasha's rule emission.

Abstract
Delayed luminescence (DF), including phosphorescence and thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) exhibit common and broad application prospects in optoelectronic displays, biological imaging, and encryption. Thus, the combination of delayed luminescence and circularly polarized luminescence is attracting increasing attention. The encapsulation of guest emitters in various host matrices to form host-guest systems has been demonstrated to be an appealing strategy to further enhance and/or modulate their delayed luminescence and circularly polarized luminescence. Compared with conventional liquid crystals, polymers, and supramolecular matrices, porous crystalline frameworks (PCFs) including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent-organic frameworks (COFs), zeolites and hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) can not only overcome shortcomings such as flexibility and disorder but also achieve the ordered encapsulation of guests and long-term stability of chiral structures, providing new promising host platforms for the development of DF and CPL. In this review, we provide a comprehensive and critical summary of the recent progress in host-guest photochemistry via the encapsulation engineering of guest emitters in PCFs, particularly focusing on delayed luminescence and circularly polarized luminescence. Initially, the general principle of phosphorescence, TADF and CPL, the combination of DF and CPL, and energy transfer processes between host and guests are introduced. Subsequently, we comprehensively discuss the critical factors affecting the encapsulation engineering of guest emitters in PCFs, such as pore structures, the confinement effect, charge and energy transfer between the host and guest, conformational dynamics, and aggregation model of guest emitters. Thereafter, we summarize the effective methods for the preparation of host-guest systems, especially single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SC-SC) transformation and epitaxial growth, which are distinct from conventional methods based on amorphous materials. Then, the recent advancements in host-guest systems based on PCFs for delayed luminescence and circularly polarized luminescence are highlighted. Finally, we present our personal insights into the challenges and future opportunities in this promising field.

Abstract
Herein, we report an efficient and straightforward approach for the synthesis of N-alkylated aminoquinoline derivatives by recyclable Cd-containing coordination polymer-catalyzed reactions of aminoquinolines with primary alcohols via the borrowing hydrogen strategy. In this work, a new type of coordination polymer [Cd(CIA)(phen)2(H2O)]n was successfully designed and fabricated. The molecular structure was corroborated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and fully characterized by PXRD, FT-IR, TGA, and XPS. Importantly, this polymer revealed high catalytic activity for the N-alkylation reaction of 2-aminoquinoline and 8-aminoquinoline with inexpensive and low-toxicity alcohols as alkylating agents in excellent yields up to 95%. Interestingly, the present synthetic protocol was successfully applied for the gram-level synthesis of several biologically active compounds. In addition, several control reactions were carried out to investigate the possible mechanisms of this transformation. Finally, recycling experiments indicated that the cadmium coordination polymer showed good recovery performance for borrowing hydrogen reactions.

Abstract
Synaptic devices that mimic biological synapses are considered as promising candidates for brain-inspired devices, offering the functionalities in neuromorphic computing. However, modulation of emerging optoelectronic synaptic devices has rarely been reported. Herein, a semiconductive ternary hybrid heterostructure is prepared with a D-D'-A configuration by introducing polyoxometalate (POM) as an additional electroactive donor (D') into a metalloviologen-based D-A framework. The obtained material features an unprecedented porous 8-connected bcu-net that accommodates nanoscale [α-SiW12 O40 ]4- counterions, displaying uncommon optoelectronic responses. Besides, the fabricated synaptic device based on this material can achieve dual-modulation of synaptic plasticity due to the synergetic effect of electron reservoir POM and photoinduced electron transfer. And it can successfully simulate learning and memory processes similar to those in biological systems. The result provides a facile and effective strategy to customize multi-modality artificial synapses in the field of crystal engineering, which opens a new direction for developing high-performance neuromorphic devices.

Abstract
Na3ScF6: 20% Yb3+, 2% Er3+ samples were synthesized with different reaction times and reaction temperatures using the solvothermal method. We carried out a series of tests on Na3ScF6 crystals. The XRD patterns showed that the monoclinic phases of the Na3ScF6 samples could be synthesized under different reaction conditions, and doping with Yb3+ ions and Er3+ ions did not change the crystal structures. The SEM images showed that the sizes of the samples gradually increased with reaction time and reaction temperature. The fluorescence spectra showed that the emission peaks of the prepared samples under 980 nm near-infrared (NIR) excitation were centered at 520 nm/543 nm and 654 nm, corresponding to the 2H11/2/4S3/2→4I15/2 and 4F9/2→4I15/2 transitions, respectively. With the increasing size of the samples, the emission intensities at 654 nm increased and the luminescence colors changed from green to red; at the same time, the red-to-green luminescence intensity ratios (IR/IG ratios) increased from 0.435 to 15.106-by as much as ~34.7 times. Therefore, this paper provides a scheme for tuning the IR/IG ratios of Na3ScF6: 20% Yb3+, 2% Er3+ samples by changing their sizes, making it possible to enhance the intensity of red upconversion, which has great potential for the study of color displays and lighting.

Abstract
A novel metal-organic framework (MOF) host-guest material [Cd3(EtOIPA)4(HAD)2]·H2O has been successfully synthesized by the reaction of 5-ethoxyisophthalic acid (EtOIPA), acridine (AD) and Cd(II) salts under hydrothermal conditions. Structurally, the title MOF possesses a trinucleate Cd(II) based 2D double-layer with the protonated AD cations as the template encapsulated into the grids. The combination of experiments and theoretical calculations reveals that the orderly arrangement of EtOIPA dimers, protonated AD cations and trinucleate Cd(II) clusters generates highly delocalized π-electron channels with a prolonged exciton lifetime. The MOF powders show bright yellow emission with a long lifetime of 50.63 ns. Photoelectrochemical measurements reveal a high photocurrent density ratio of 290 between light and dark conditions at 0 V bias potential, making it a perfect self-driven photodetector. By coating the yellow phosphor on a commercially available blue LED, a high performance white LED with CIE, CCT and CRI values of (0.325, 0.336), 88.2 and 5844 K, respectively can be obtained.

Abstract
Herein, a new Ni-based metal–organic framework (MOF, 1) bearing highly structural stability is synthesized by the reaction of utilizing a rigid and functionalized linker, 2,6-bis(pyridin-4-yl)-1,7-dihydrobenzo[1,2-d:4,5-d′]diimidazole (BBI4PY), in combination with Ni(NO3)2·6H2O and dibenzo[b,d]thiophene-3,7-dicarboxylic acid 5,5-dioxide (L1) under solvothermal conditions. The crystal structure of complex 1 is determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and is demonstrated to be a two-dimensional layered structure. In addition, PXRD, IR, TGA and UV/Vis-NIR spectra are also tested carefully to explore the solid structure of this complex. Remarkably, although no significant accumulation effect could be observed between the two-dimensional layers, a stacking interaction between DMF solvent molecules and ligand L1 could be found, which might promote non-radiative transitions and trigger obvious near-infrared photothermal conversion. Under 660 nm laser (0.6 W cm−2) illumination, the temperature of complex 1 increased rapidly from room temperature to 45.2 °C, with good thermal stability and cycle durability. Its photothermal conversion efficiency could reach 10.75%. This work provides an efficient way for assessing the promise of materials in the field of photothermal therapy.

Abstract
The controlled synthesis of organometallic supramolecular macrocycles cages remains interesting and challenging work in the field of supramolecular chemistry. Here, two tetranuclear rectangular macrocycles and an octuclear cage were designed and synthesized utilizing a rigid and functionalized pillar linker, 2,6-bis(pyridin-4-yl)-1,7-dihydrobenzo [1,2-d:4,5-d']diimidazole (BBI4PY) based on three half-sandwich rhodium building blocks bearing different sizes. X-ray crystallography in combination with 1H NMR spectroscopy elucidated that the two building blocks with shorter spacers only result in rectangular macrocycles. However, the building block of bulkier size to avoid the π-π stacking interactions between two ligands BBI4PY led to the formation of an octuclear cage complex. The latter cage contains two types of metal ions, namely Rh3+ and Cu2+, showing significant characteristics of heterogeneous metal-assembling compounds. In addition, the cage accommodates two free isopropyl ether solvent molecules, thus displaying host-guest behavior.

Abstract
A zinc(II) coordination polymer [Zn(cyip)(bpe)]
n
(1), (cyipH2 = 5-(3-carboxybenzyloxy)-isophthalic acid, bpe = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane), has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and further characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra. Complex 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group I2/a. In 1, the [cyip]2– ligand bridges the Zn(II) cations to form infinite chains, which are connected through O–H···O hydrogen bonds into layers in the form of 2-fold interpenetrated nets.

Abstract
Organic afterglow materials based on carbon dots (CDs) have aroused extensive attention for their potential applications in sensing, photoelectric devices, and anticounterfeiting. Effective methods to control the CD structure and modulate the energy levels are critical but still challenging. Here, we demonstrate a method to modulate the afterglow emission of CDs@SiO2 composites by controlling the carbonization degree of CDs with variable calcining temperatures. The CDs@SiO2-Raw prepared with a hydrothermal bottom-up synthesis method shows a more polymerized structure of CDs with low carbonization degree, which emits long-lived thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) with the lifetime of 252 ms. After calcination at 550 °C, CDs@SiO2-550 exhibits a larger conjugated π-domain structure with higher carbonization degree, thus inducing room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) emission with a lifetime of 451 ms. The transformation of the carbonization degree of CD structures leads to changes in energy levels and ΔEST, which affect their afterglow luminescence behaviors. This work proposes a new concept to modulate the afterglow emission of CDs@SiO2 composites and forecasts potential applications of CD-based afterglow materials.

Abstract
Organic room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) molecules have shown promising applications in organic light emitting diodes and vivo imaging. Thus, triplet exciton dynamics in solid phase should be revealed and the molecule should possess large two photon absorption (TPA) cross sections under near-infrared excitation. The effects of halogen substitution and intermolecular interaction on RTP and TPA properties are studied at molecular level for a series of derivatives. Surrounding environment in solid phase is considered by combined quantum mechanics and molecular mechanics method. Intermolecular interactions are evaluated by the independent gradient model and calculated through the molecular force field energy decomposition method. Minimum energy crossing point, Huang-Rhys factor and reorganization energy are discussed, triplet exciton dynamics are investigated by thermal vibration correlation function method. Results indicate that the largest TPA cross sections are found for molecule in water. The halogen substitution can enlarge the proportion of (π, π*) and facilitate the intersystem crossing process. Restricted intramolecular rotation motions of dihedral angle in low frequency regions are found for Br-Np-Cz-BF2 in solid phase. While enhanced vibrations of bond length and bond angle in high frequency regions are detected for I-Np-Cz-BF2. Effects of halogen substitution and intermolecular interaction on triplet exciton dynamics are highlighted.

Abstract
Herein, a new Zn-MOF material, [Zn(L1)(L2)], 1, was built successfully through a one-pot solvothermal method. The 3D MOF structure was determined by Single X-ray diffraction analysis, IR, and elemental analysis. A series of PXRD tests of 1 after being immersed in different solvents and pH solutions demonstrated the good stability of 1. Interestingly, this material displayed high catalytic activity for the visible-light-driven hydrogen generation under the illumination of white LED in pure water or a mixture of DMF and H2O without additional photosensitizers and cocatalysts. Besides, the studies also showed that the catalytic activity changed constantly as well as the solvent ratio adjustment of DMF and H2O from 4:6 to 2:8. Additionally, the catalytic activity reached the best value (743 μmol g-1 h-1) when the solvent ratio was 4:6. The heterogeneous nature and recyclability of the MOF catalyst, as well as several factors that affect the catalytic activity, were investigated and described in detail. Moreover, the photocatalytic mechanism for the hydrogen generation of 1 was also proposed based on the fluorescence spectra and UV-vis absorption.

L), which was synthesized from 1-(3-amino-2-hydroxyphenyl)ethanone and 2-bromomalonaldehyde. H2
L and 1 were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, FT–IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Theoretical calculations of the bond orders and excited state of H2
L confirmed that there is extensive electron delocalization in the H2
L molecules. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction shows that the two Zn atoms are pentacoordinated in distorted trigonal bipyramidal configurations in the crystals of 1. The thermogravimetric analysis of 1 shows that the main frame of the complex remains stable to about 190 °C. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis shows that 1 possesses high purity and acid and alkali resistance. The intermolecular interactions of H2
L and 1 were analyzed using Hirshfeld surface analysis and the results indicate that the H...H and O...H interactions of H2
L and 1 play a considerable role in stabilizing the self-assembly process.

Abstract
Developing fluorescent materials with multiple and tunable emissions under different conditions is necessary to meet the growing demand for optical anticounterfeiting technology. Different modes of fluorescence emission can be obtained by loading multiple fluorescent components into metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and modulating the interaction among them for multiple anticounterfeiting purposes. Herein, a Cd-based MOF (HNU-60) was constructed as a host to encapsulate both lanthanide ions and carbon quantum dots. Multiple fluorescence emissions can be achieved by modulation of host-guest and guest-guest interaction, which holds promise for multiple anticounterfeiting applications. This work opens the opportunity to construct the hybrid MOF-based materials with controlled fluorescence properties for emerging anticounterfeiting applications in various fields.

Abstract
Herein, the exquisite combination of coplanar [Tm4(CO2)10(μ3-OH)2(μ2-HCO2)(OH2)2] clusters ({Tm4}) and structure-oriented functional BDCP5- leads to the highly robust nanoporous {Tm4}-organic framework {(Me2NH2)[Tm4(BDCP)2(μ3-OH)2(μ2-HCO2)(H2O)2]·7DMF·5H2O}n (NUC-37, H5BDCP = 2,6-bis(2,4-dicarboxylphenyl)-4-(4-carboxylphenyl)pyridine). To the best of our knowledge, NUC-37 is the first anionic {Ln4}-based three-dimensional framework with embedded hierarchical microporous and nanoporous channels, among which each larger one is shaped by six rows of coplanar {Tm4} clusters and characterized by plentiful coexisting Lewis acid-base sites on the inner wall including open TmIII sites, Npyridine atoms, μ3-OH and μ2-HCO2. Catalytic experimental studies exhibit that NUC-37 possesses highly selective catalytic activity on the cycloaddition of epoxides with CO2 as well as high recyclability under gentle conditions, which should be ascribed to its nanoscale channels, rich bifunctional active sites, and stable physicochemical properties. This work offers an effective means for synthesizing productive cluster-based Ln-MOF catalysts by employing structure-oriented ligands and controlling the solvothermal reaction conditions.

Abstract
Room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials have been widely noticed due to their superior optical properties in the past decade. Herein, we report the Si-assisted N, P co-doped RTP carbonized polymer dots (CPDs), prepared by one-step microwave assisted heating of 3-(2-Aminoethylamino)propyldimethoxymethylsilane and phosphoric acid aqueous solution. The obtained CPDs exhibit bright RTP with an absolute photoluminescence quantum yield 34.17%, absolute phosphorescence quantum yield 11.42% and long lifetime of 1.42 s, which lasts for about 16 s to the naked eyes. We apply the obtained CPDs into information encryption and Polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) film graphic anti-counterfeiting with facile way. Additionally, we make more efforts to realize aqueous RTP CPDs composite. The obtained aqueous CPDs composite exhibits bright aqueous RTP with absolute photoluminescence quantum yield (QY) of 12.61%, absolute phosphorescence quantum yield (QY) of 5.08% and RTP lifetime of 1.46 s, which lasts for about 10 s to the naked eyes. The RTP CPDs composite is nontoxic and biocompatible. These brilliant characteristics allow CPDs composite to be applicable in biological imaging. Thisstudy affords a new RTP material which can be easily prepared and used for information encryption, graphic anti-counterfeiting and biological imaging.

Abstract
In view of Hg2+ ion sensing by luminescence, a series of new, phenanthroline-decorated 3D lanthanide metal organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) valorising an original combination of four different lanthanides and two organic ligands, i.e. thiobis(4-methylene-benzoic acid) (H2tmba) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), have been successfully synthesized, namely {[Ln4(tmba)6(phen)4]·m(H2O)(phen)}n [Ln = Ce, m = 3 (1); Pr, m = 1 (2); Eu, m = 3 (3); and Tb, m = 3 (4)]. Compounds 1-4 were characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental and thermogravimetric analyses, and powder X-ray diffraction. The luminescence properties of complexes 3 and 4 were thoroughly investigated. It is herein proved that compound 3 sensitively and selectively acts as an excellent luminescent probe for the detection of Hg2+ ions in waters, with a detection limit of 1.00 μM. As additional assets, 3 displays superb stability over a wide pH range (3-12) of the aqueous media, as well as convenient recycling after completion of the detection experiments. The rationale for the observed luminescence quenching effect of mercury might be a strong interaction arising between Hg2+ ions and the carboxylate oxygen atoms of the tmba2- ligand. The results open new perspectives for applications in environmental remediation.

Abstract
In this work, we prepared a fluorescein hydrazide-appended Ni(MOF) (Metal-Organic Framework) [Ni3(BTC)2(H2O)3]·(DMF)3(H2O)3 composite, FH@Ni(MOF). This composite was well-characterized by PXRD (powder X-ray diffraction), FT-IR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), N2 adsorption isotherm, TGA (thermogravimetric analysis), XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), and FESEM (field emission scanning electron microscopy). This composite was then tested with different heavy metals and was found to act as a highly selective and sensitive optical sensor for the Hg2+ ion. It was found that the aqueous emulsion of this composite produces a new peak in absorption at 583 nm, with a chromogenic change to a pink color visible to the naked eye upon binding with Hg2+ ions. In emission, it enhances fluorescence with a fluorogenic change to green fluorescence upon complexation with the Hg2+ ion. The binding constant was found to be 9.4 × 105 M-1, with a detection limit of 0.02 μM or 5 ppb. This sensor was also found to be reversible and could be used for seven consecutive cycles. It was also tested for Hg2+ ion detection in practical water samples from ground water, tap water, and drinking water.

Abstract
The development of optical materials with room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) and white light emission (WLEDs) is highly desirable and remains a challenging task. Herein, a porous metal-organic framework PCN-921 with a high quantum yield (ΦF = 93.6%) was achieved. To make full use of the advantages of the high porosity of PCN-921, we hierarchically encapsulated different guest molecules coronene and rhodamine B (RhB) into the framework. Unsurprisingly, the hybrid material coronene@PCN-921 was obtained after in situ encapsulation of the guest coronene into the framework, and it exhibits obvious RTP behavior with a long phosphorescence lifetime of 62.5 ns. Subsequently, second guest RhB molecules were introduced after soaking in RhB solution and the material RhB@coronene@PCN-921 was achieved. Interestingly, it exhibits white light emission with the CIE coordinates of (0.29, 0.34), and can be used as a high performance WLED lamp. This is the first work on dual-functional hybrid dyes@MOFs with hierarchical guest encapsulation for RTP and white light emission, which suggests the potential applications of MOFs in multifunctional optical devices.

Abstract
Abstract
A new cobalt-based coordination polymer (CP), [Co(Htatb)(1,4-bib)]·DMF (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized from CoCl2
·6H2O, 4,4′,4′′-s-triazine-2,4,6-tribenzoic acid (H3tatb), and 1,4-bis(1-imidazoly)benzene (1,4-bib). The product has been characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental and thermogravimetric analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In compound 1, the Htatb ligand links three CoII ions resulting in a double-strand chain structure, further bridged through the 1,4-bib ligands to generate a 2D structure with channels. The fluorescence and cyclovoltammetry characteristics of compound 1 have also been investigated.
