Abstract
Omics approaches have significantly contributed to our understanding of several aspects of chicken reproduction. This review paper gives an overview of the use of omics technologies such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to elucidate the mechanisms of chicken reproduction. Genomics has transformed the study of chicken reproduction by allowing the examination of the full genetic makeup of chickens, resulting in the discovery of genes associated with reproductive features and disorders. Transcriptomics has provided insights into the gene expression patterns and regulatory mechanisms involved in reproductive processes, allowing for a better knowledge of developmental stages and hormone regulation. Furthermore, proteomics has made it easier to identify and quantify the proteins involved in reproductive physiology to better understand the molecular mechanisms driving fertility, embryonic development, and egg quality. Metabolomics has emerged as a useful technique for understanding the metabolic pathways and biomarkers linked to reproductive performance, providing vital insights for enhancing breeding tactics and reproductive health. The integration of omics data has resulted in the identification of critical molecular pathways and biomarkers linked with chicken reproductive features, providing the opportunity for targeted genetic selection and improved reproductive management approaches. Furthermore, omics technologies have helped to create biomarkers for fertility and embryonic viability, providing the poultry sector with tools for effective breeding and reproductive health management. Finally, omics technologies have greatly improved our understanding of chicken reproduction by revealing the molecular complexities that underpin reproductive processes.

Abstract
Introduction The branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are essential to mammalian growth and development but aberrantly elevated in obesity and diabetes. Each BCAA has an independent and specific physio-biochemical effect on the host. However, the exact molecular mechanism of the detrimental effect of valine on metabolic health remains largely unknown. Methods and results This study showed that for lean mice treated with valine, the hepatic lipid metabolism and adipogenesis were enhanced, and the villus height and crypt depth of the ileum were significantly increased. Transcriptome profiling on white and brown adipose tissues revealed that valine disturbed multiple signaling pathways (e.g., inflammation and fatty acid metabolism). Integrative cecal metagenome and metabolome analyses found that abundances of Bacteroidetes decreased, but Proteobacteria and Helicobacter increased, respectively; and 87 differential metabolites were enriched in several molecular pathways (e.g., inflammation and lipid and bile acid metabolism). Furthermore, abundances of two metabolites (stercobilin and 3-IAA), proteins (AMPK/pAMPK and SCD1), and inflammation and adipogenesis-related genes were validated. Discussion Valine treatment affects the intestinal microbiota and metabolite compositions, induces gut inflammation, and aggravates hepatic lipid deposition and adipogenesis. Our findings provide novel insights into and resources for further exploring the molecular mechanism and biological function of valine on lipid metabolism.

Abstract
The study aimed to analyze the biological value of eggs and extra-embryonic structures affecting pheasant hatchability depending on the eggshell's color. Eggs (1,415) from 62-wk-old pheasants were used. The quality of fresh blue (BL), brown (BR), and green (G) eggs were analyzed. Incubation lasted for 25 d. Thick albumen (d 0, 1, 7, 14), amniotic fluid (d 14, 18), and the yolk (d 0-14) were collected. The pH, viscosity, lysozyme activity, crude protein (CP) content in albumen and amnion, pH, vitelline membrane strength, and fatty acids (FA) content in the yolk were performed. The lowest hatchability was in the BL group, and the highest was in the G group. BL group showed lower eggshell thickness and strength and higher egg weight. In thick albumen and amniotic fluid, the pH decreased with the incubation. In the yolk, there was an increasing trend (P = 0.015), with a decrease on d 18 (P < 0.001). The vitelline membrane strength decreased after 1 d of incubation, excluding BR eggs (P < 0.001). Thick albumen viscosity was higher on d 14 in the G group than in other dates and groups, the lowest in amniotic fluid, and slightly higher in BL and BR eggs. On d 18, amniotic fluid viscosity increased (P < 0.001). The lowest viscosity was indicated in BL eggs (P < 0.001). The lysozyme activity in thick albumen on d 14 was the highest (uniquely in BR and G groups), and the lowest values were found in amniotic fluid on d 14; after four d, the activity increased (P < 0.001). The CP content was higher in the BL group on d 14. In amnion, on d 14, the CP content was the lowest (<1%) and increased on d 18 (P < 0.001). There was a higher FA content (especially UFA) in the G group and a decrease in FA content after d 14 (P < 0.001). It was found that eggs with green eggshells have the highest biological value, and blue eggs are the least useful for incubation.

Abstract
Hepatic lipid and fatty acid (FA) metabolism are critical for regulating energetic homeostasis during embryogenesis. At present, it remains unclear how an exogenous FA intervention affects embryonic development in an avian embryo model. In Exp. 1, 30 fertilized eggs were sampled on embryonic days (E) 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31 and the day of hatch (DOH) to determine the critical period of lipid metabolism. In Exp. 2, a total of 120 fertilized eggs were divided into two groups (60 eggs/group) for in ovo feeding (IOF) procedures on E25. Eggs were injected into the yolk sac with PBS as the control group and with oleic acid (OA) as the IOF-OA treatment group. Samples were collected on E28 and E31. In Exp. 1, hepatic triacylglycerol (TG) and cholesterol (CHO) contents increased while serum TG content decreased from E16 to DOH (P < 0.05). Both serum and liver displayed an increase in unsaturated FA and a decrease in saturated FA (P < 0.05). There was a quadratic increase in the target gene and protein expression related to hepatic FA de novo synthesis and oxidation (P < 0.05), whose inflection period was between E22 and E28. In Exp. 2, compared with the control embryos, IOF-OA embryos had an increased yolk sac TG content on E28 and E31, and a decreased serum TG and CHO content on E28 (P < 0.05). The IOF-OA embryos had less OA in the yolk sac and liver on E28, and less unsaturated FA in the serum and liver on E31 than did the control embryos (P < 0.05). Hepatic gene mRNA expression related to FA uptake, synthesis, and oxidation on E28 was lower in IOF-OA than in control embryos (P < 0.05), not on E31 (P > 0.05). Maximal metabolic changes in lipid and FA metabolism occurred on E22-E28 in Muscovy duck embryogenesis, along with the altered target gene and protein expression related to lipogenesis and lipolysis. IOF-OA intervention on E25 could inhibit the target gene expression related to FA uptake, synthesis, and oxidation, which may influence the normal FA metabolism on E28 during embryogenesis.

Abstract
Egg proteins are not only the most complete and ideal form of protein for human or embryo nutrition but also play the vital role in the food industry. Egg proteins are subjected to many potential changes under various conditions, which may further alter the nutritional value, physicochemical-properties, and bioactivities of proteins. Recent advances in our understanding of the proteome of raw egg matrix from different species and dynamic changes occurring during storage and incubation are developing rapidly. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the main characteristics of chicken egg proteome, covering all its components and applications under various conditions, such as markers detection, egg quality evaluation, genetic and biological unknown identification, and embryonic nutritional supplementation, which not only contributes to our in-depth understanding of each constituent functionality of proteome, but also provides information to increase the value to egg industry.

Abstract
"Fenghuang Egg" is a special egg product incubated for 12 days by fertilized hen eggs. Its egg white contains high-viscosity and excellent thermal gel strength. A comparative study on the differences in gel properties, structure, and substance composition between fresh egg white (FEW) and "Fenghuang egg" gelatinous egg white (GEW) was carried out. Experimental results showed GEW had better apparent viscosity, as well as the hardness, cohesiveness and water holding capacity (WHC) of thermal gel; the content and size of aggregate structure increased significantly in GEW, and a fibrous dense network composed of numerous spherical nanoparticles connected in series was formed after heating. In addition, it also discovered that more water molecules in GEW existed in the form of bound water. A total of 41 proteins changed significantly in FEW and GEW, Mucin 6 might be the main reason for the enhanced viscosity of GEW, and OVA might be the dominant protein differentiating the thermal gel properties between FEW and GEW. This study revealed that the differences in gel properties and structures between FEW and GEW were closely related to the content of highly glycosylated globular proteins, laying a theoretical foundation for the application of high-viscosity egg whites.
