Abstract
Dye-dye conjugates have attracted significant interest for their utility in applications such as bioimaging, theranostics, and light-harvesting. Many classes of organic dyes have been employed in this regard; however, building blocks don't typically extend beyond small chromophores. This can lead to minor changes to the optoelectronic properties of the original dye. The exploration of dye-dye structures is impeded by long synthetic routes, incompatible synthetic conditions, or a mismatch of the desired properties. Here, we present the first-of-their-kind dye-dye conjugates of boron difluoride complexes of formazanate and dipyrromethene ligands. These conjugates exhibit dual photoluminescence bands that reach the near-infrared spectral region and implicate anti-Kasha processes. Cyclic voltammetry experiments revealed the generation of polyanionic species that can reversibly tolerate the uptake of up to 6 electrons. Ultimately, we demonstrate that BF2 formazanates can serve as a synthetically accessible platform to build upon new classes of dye-dye conjugates.

Abstract
In the recent decades, the investigations on photoresponsive molecular systems with multiple azoarenes are quite popular in diverse perspectives ranging from fundamental understanding of multiple photoswitches, supramolecular chemistry, and various application prospects. In fact, several insightful and conceptual designs of such systems were investigated with architectural distinctions. In particular, the demonstration of applications such as data storage with the help of multistate or orthogonal photoswitches, light modulation of catalysis via cooperative switching, sensors using supramolecular host-guest interactions, and materials such as liquid crystals, grating, actuators, etc. are some of the milestones in this area. Herein, we cover the recent advancements in the research areas of multiazoarenes containing systems that have been classified into Type-1 {linear, non-linear, and core-based (A)}, Type-2 {tripodal C3 -symmetric (C3)} and Type-3 {macrocyclic (M)} structural motifs.

Abstract
Intramolecular charge transfer and excited-state symmetry breaking have a significant effect on the nonlinear optical properties of multipolar chromophores. Rigid and nonplanar perylene bisimide derivatives (PBIs) functionalized at bay positions were comparatively and comprehensively investigated. In apolar solvents, two quadrupolar molecular rotors showed an obvious decrease of the A0-0/A0-1 ratios, suggesting strong exciton coupling with the adjacent PBI units initiated by the π-π stacking. The vanishment of the preferable dimer emission in polar solvents supported the plausible phenomena of excited-state symmetry breaking, thanks to the facile rotation around the rigid linkers. Comparative femtosecond transition absorption studies confirmed their notable differences in relaxation dynamics and the generation of radical anions (PBI•-) and cations (PBI•+). The maxima two-photon absorption (2PA) wavelengths obtained for the molecular rotors were slightly red-shifted to 670 nm with intrinsic resonance-enhanced characteristics, reflecting the synergistic effect of functional positions and molecular architectures. Meanwhile, the obvious increase of significant 2PA cross-section values in polar solvents illustrated the stabilization of the symmetry-broken dipolar states. Further femtosecond Z-scan also manifested the contribution of excited-state dynamics on the nonlinear optical properties of multipolar chromophores.

Abstract
Aromatic azo dyes are of immense commercial importance, and the development of greener routes for their synthesis is imperative due to current environmental concerns. In the present study, a microwave-assisted route has been developed for rapid and convenient synthesis of unsymmetrical azo dyes in a single step. In a metal-catalyst-free approach, an aromatic amine was used as an in situ reductant to affect its direct cross-condensation with nitroarenes to afford a variety of dispersed and water-soluble azo dyes. The electronic and substituent effects were thoroughly understood by placing suitable substituents in both nitroarenes and aniline derivatives in competitive reactions. The microwave (MW) method worked better with aniline or electron-rich aromatic amines to prepare a range of unsymmetrical azo dyes in up to 97% yields within a few minutes. The method worked well in the gram-scale synthesis of commercial dye, solvent yellow 7.
