Abstract
Herein, we present a green cascade approach for synthesizing a range of chemoselective polysubstituted pyrano[3',4':3,4]cyclopenta[1,2-c]chromenes containing a chiral stereocenter. The strategy involves a metal-free nucleophilic reaction between dialkyl (2E)-2-{2-oxo-3-[(2E)-3-aryl-2-propenoyl]-2H-chromen-4-yl}-2-butenedioates and α,α-dicyanoolefins under reflux conditions in ethanol solvent. Mechanistic studies have shown that the reaction proceeds via a cascade of steps, including Michael addition, intramolecular C- and O-cyclization, intramolecular trans-esterification, [1,2]-H and [1,5]-methoxy- and ethoxy carbonyl shift, and finally aromatization to yield the desired product. In this method, three bonds (2C-C and C-O) form in one pot, simultaneously forming two new cyclopentane and pyrano rings by double cyclization reactions. Other advantages of this method are that it has a simple operation, readily available starting materials, a chemoselective cascade process, transition metal-free, synthetically useful yields, and green conditions by using ethanol as a solvent.

Abstract
The introduction of heteroatoms into conjugated organic molecules is an important strategy to tune their reactivity and physical properties. In this realm triazabutadienes (TBDs) of the general from R2C=N-N=NR' are an interesting class of compounds, however, general synthetic protocols for their generation are limited. Based on the serendipitous finding that the sterically encumbered azide Mes*N3 (Mes*=2,4,6-tBu3C6H2) reacted with PMe3 in the presence of an aromatic aldehyde to form a TBD, we now report on the "Azide-Wittig" reaction. This azide-Wittig reaction is shown to be a versatile tool for the synthesis of a variety of TBDs, tolerating a wide range of aldehydes and organic azides as coupling partners. The preference for azide-Wittig, rather than aza-Wittig reactivity was rationalized using computational methods. This study shows how kinetic control can significantly alter the reaction pathway, thereby switching from an aza-Wittig to an azide-Wittig regime.

Abstract
Polysubstituted alkenes are an important class of organic intermediates that widely exist in various natural products and drug molecules. Herein, we reported a stereoselective synthesis of multisubstituted alkenes via ruthenium-catalyzed remote migration arylation of nonactivated olefins. This strategy exhibited wide substrate suitability and excellent functional group tolerance. In addition, we demonstrated the indispensable role of two types of ruthenium through mechanism experiments.

Abstract
In this report, new, easily accessible reagents for highly Z-selective HWE reactions are presented. Alkyl di-(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl)phosphonoacetates, structurally similar to Still-Gennari type reagents, were tested in HWE reactions with a series of various aldehydes. Very good Z-selectivity (up to a 98:2 Z:E ratio) was achieved in most cases along with high yields. Application of the new reagents may be a valuable, practical alternative to the well-established Still-Gennari or Ando Z-selective carbonyl group olefination protocols.

Abstract
An efficient and practical phosphine-catalyzed homo-coupling reaction of benzyl chlorides is described. The reactions proceed smoothly in the presence of CsF/B(OMe)3 and NaH as the base, respectively, to provide trans-stilbenes in good yields with a broad scope. Unsymmetrical stilbenes are also generated from the reactions of benzyl chlorides with phosphonium salts. Several P-based key intermediates have been detected by NMR and HRMS analyses, which shed light on the postulated catalytic cycle. In the presence of different bases, the transformations involve two different pathways, in which phenylcarbene and phosphonium alkoxide are considered as key intermediates, respectively. The two pathways are complementary in synthesis but different in mechanisms. The synthetic utility, including gram-scale reactions and straightforward access to π-conjugated molecules, has been demonstrated as well.

Abstract
A trans-semihydrogenation of 1,3-enynes with ethanol as the hydrogen source was developed using a new (PCN)Ir complex as the precatalyst and tBuNH2 as the cocatalyst. This catalyst system provides an efficient and atom-economical access to unsymmetrical (E,E)-1,4-diarylbutadienes with high yields and stereoselectivities. Monitoring the process revealed that a sequence of cis-semihydrogenation of the triple bond of 1,3-enynes (to form (E,Z)-butadienes) and (E,Z)-to-(E,E) isomerization occurs to form (E,E)-butadienes.
