Abstract
An unprecedented base-controlled selective skeletal rearrangement reaction of hexahydro-4H-indol-4-ones has been developed. In this protocol, highly functionalized dihydroxy-4H-cyclopenta[b]pyridin-4-ones and 8-alkenyl oxepane-2,6-diones were prepared with a broad substrate scope and high chemoselectivity in moderate to excellent yields selectively by modulating LiOH and Et3N. In addition, the newly formed 8-alkenyl oxepane-2,6-dione scaffolds could be easily further derivatized to 5-(pyrrol-2-yl)dihydrofuran-2(3H)-ones through a rare intramolecular rearrangement reaction.

Abstract
Tetrahydro-β-carbolines (THβCs) are a kind of natural alkaloids with multiple pharmaceutical activities. Herein, a focused compound library derived from THβCs was synthesized and their anticancer activities were studied in several cancer cell lines. Among them, three compounds showed considerable anticancer activities with low micromolar to submicromolar IC50 values. The abilities to induce apoptosis and alter mitochondrial membrane potential levels, which are comparable to those of the commercial anticancer drug adriamycin, were confirmed by one representative compound (21) on the B16/F10 cell line. Our preliminary structure-activity relationship studies indicated that alkylamines with suitable lengths are very important for potency improvement.

Abstract
The indium-catalyzed regiospecific coupling of substituted phenol derivatives and quaternary peroxyoxindoles for the synthesis of C2 or C4 benzoxazin-3-one-substituted phenols via skeletal rearrangement is described. This reaction is demonstrated with 17 examples with good yields and diverse aryl substituents. In contrast to the indium-catalyzed reaction, the Cu(OTf)2-catalyzed reaction of the phenol with quaternary peroxyoxindoles afforded C2 or C4 2-oxindole-substituted phenol derivatives. This diverse catalytic reaction generated various biologically important phenol-substituted 2-oxindole derivatives directly without any skeleton rearrangement and was demonstrated with 19 examples in high yield. The regiospecificity and the reaction pathways were explained with the support of density functional theory (DFT).

Abstract
The quinoline scaffold has become an important construction motif for the development of new drugs. The quinolones and their heteroannulated derivatives have high importance due to their diverse spectrum of biological activities as antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetes, anti-Alzheimer's disease, antioxidant and diuretic activities. This review summarizes the various new, efficient and convenient synthetic approaches to synthesize diverse quinolone-based scaffolds and their biological activities. We also dealt with the important mechanism, the route and type of reactions of the obtained products. The biological activities of some heteroannulated quinolones were also discussed.

Abstract
For the first time, the sequential reaction of peroxyoxindole that involves base-promoted oxidative fragmentation to isocyanate formation and primary amine or amino alcohol accelerated skeletal rearrangement to synthesize exo-olefinic-substituted quinazolinone or oxazoloquinazolinone is reported. The advantages of this new reaction include a broad substrate scope and transition-metal-free and room-temperature conditions. The formation of the isocyanate as a key intermediate that accelerates oxidative skeletal rearrangement has been confirmed by trapping experiments and spectroscopic evidence.
