Abstract
The Cp*Ir-catalyzed C8-selective arylation of quinoline N-oxides with arylsilanes is developed. This C-H activation transformation can be carried out under mild reaction conditions in good yields with a broad substrate scope and excellent functional-group tolerance. This protocol can be easily used to synthesize diverse quinoline derivatives and enable the late-stage modification of quinoline drugs. A plausible reaction mechanism is elucidated based on a series of preliminary mechanistic studies.

Abstract
A highly efficient method for the synthesis of aryl substituted conjugated enediynes and unsymmetrical 1,3-diynes via selective cross-coupling reactions of 1,1-dibromoethylenes with alkynylaluminums using the Pd(OAc)2-DPPE and Pd2(dba)3-TFP complexes as catalysts, respectively, has been successfully developed. Though the alkyl substituted conjugated enediynes and unsymmetrical 1,3-diynes were not obtained, this case is also remarkable as the same starting materials could selectively produce either aryl substituted conjugated enediynes or unsymmetrical 1,3-diynes in moderate to excellent yields (up to 99%) in the different Pd-phosphine catalytic systems.

Abstract
One bonded- and one discreted-Lindqvist hexatungstate-based copper hybrids (Cu-POMs) ([Cu2(O)OH(phen)2]2[W6O19]·6H2O (1) and [Cu2(phen)4Cl] [HW6O19]·2H2O (2) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline)) were controllably synthesized and routinely characterized. Cu-POMs 1-2 consisted of identical [W6O19] unit and similar copper-phen complexes, the two units are bonded via four Cu-O chemical bonds in compound 1; however, compound 2 is discreted and stabilized by intermolecular electrostatic interactions. Importantly, these Cu-POMs catalysts were first applied in the novel reaction for the preparation of 2-phenylquinoxalines via the one-pot coupling and oxidation reactions of 2-haloanilines with vinyl azides or 3-phenyl-2H-azirines under mild conditions, and Cu-POMs 1 showed higher catalytic performance in good yields (79-84%). The reactions exhibit some functional group tolerance and allow for the preparation of a number of 2-phenylquinoxalines.

Abstract
A protocol of visible-light-promoted C2 selective arylation of quinoline and pyridine N-oxides, with diaryliodonium tetrafluoroborate as an arylation reagent, using eosin Y as a photocatalyst for the construction of N-heterobiaryls was presented. This methodology provided an efficient way for the synthesis of 2-aryl-substituted quinoline and pyridine N-oxides. This strategy has the following advantages: specific regioselectivity, simple operation, good functional group tolerance, and high to moderate yields under mild conditions.

Abstract
In this work, an interesting and practical procedure for the synthesis of 1,2-diketones from aryl halides and organoaluminum reagents has been developed. Employing tert-butyl isocyanide as the CO source and palladium as the catalyst, the desired 1,2-diketones were isolated in good to excellent yields with good functional group tolerance. Concerning the reaction partners, besides aryl halides, both alkyl- and arylaluminum reagents were all suitable substrates here.

Abstract
A highly reactive catalytic system for the carbonylative coupling of aryl iodides with alkenylaluminum reagents has been developed. Various β-substituted γ,δ-unsaturated ketones were produced under mild conditions in good to excellent yields even under ppm level of palladium catalyst. Notably, this also represents the first example on carbonylative transformation of alkenylaluminum compounds. Additionally, by the addition of zinc salt, the selectivity of the product can be modified.

Abstract
A method for the Cu-catalyzed cross-coupling of both aryl and alkylboranes with aryl bromides is described. The method employs an inexpensive Cu-catalyst and functions for a variety of heterocyclic as well as electron deficient aryl bromides. In addition, aryl iodides of varying substitution patterns and electronic properties work well.

Abstract
The detoxification of the phytoalexin brassinin to indole-3-carboxaldehyde and S-methyl dithiocarbamate is catalyzed by brassinin oxidase (BOLm), an inducible fungal enzyme produced by the plant pathogen Leptosphaeria maculans. Twenty-six substituted quinolines and isoquinolines are synthesized and evaluated for antifungal activity against L. maculans and inhibition of BOLm. Eleven compounds that inhibit BOLm activity are reported, of which 3-ethyl-6-phenylquinoline displays the highest inhibitory effect. In general, substituted 3-phenylquinolines show significantly higher inhibitory activities than the corresponding 2-phenylquinolines. Overall, these results indicate that the quinoline scaffold is a good lead to design paldoxins (phytoalexin detoxification inhibitors) that inhibit the detoxification of brassinin by L. maculans.

Abstract
Silver(I) catalyzed phenylselenylation of terminal alkynes and organoboronic acids has been demonstrated using N-(phenylseleno)phthalimide as an electrophilic SePh donor. A wide variety of terminal alkynes and organoboronic acids are selenylated efficiently to produce the corresponding alkynyl and diaryl selenides, respectively, in good yields. Silver(I) acts as a Lewis acid in this process.

Abstract
An efficient method for synthesizing arylated heteroaromatics has been reported via Pd-catalyzed ligand-free cross-coupling of N-heteroaromatic bromides with iodine(III) reagents under mild conditions. Iodobenzene diacetate, iodosobenzene, and diphenyliodonium salts act as ideal arylated sources in this reaction, producing bioactive aromatic-substituted pyridines and quinolines in moderate to high yields.
