Abstract
Novel finding of aldehyde in 2-oxoaldehyde (2OA) is presented as it unprecedentedly disinclines to react with Grignard reagents but reacts with moderate organocuprate reagents in anaerobic condition to give [1,2] addition (α-hydroxyketones) reaction. In the presence of air, the reaction produces an efficient protocol for the synthesis of 1,2-diones through a copper-catalyzed oxidative cross-coupling reaction at room temperature. Mechanistic studies indicate that α-hydroxy ketone perhaps is generated before the hydrolysis step/acid work-up process. The α-keto group of 2OA causes to exhibit this peculiar aldehyde behavior toward these organometallic reagents.

Abstract
A Mn(III)-promoted thiocarbonylation procedure toward the synthesis of thioesters has been developed. By employing easily available disulfides and potassium alkyltrifluoroborates as the starting materials, and cheap and non-toxic Mn(OAc)3·2H2O as the promotor, a broad range of thioesters were synthesized in good to excellent yields via radical intermediates.

Abstract
A nickel-catalyzed reductive coupling of aryl triflates with thiocarbonates is reported here. Both electron-rich and -deficient aryl C(sp2)-O electrophiles as well as a class of O-tBu S-alkyl thiocarbonates are compatible with the optimized reaction conditions, as evidenced by 49 examples. The reaction also proceeds with good chemoselective cleavage of the C-O bond with regard to thioesters. This work broadens the scope of nickel-catalyzed reductive cross-electrophile coupling reactions.

Abstract
Herein, we report a new method for the synthesis of acyethanethioates via thiocarbonylation of gem-difluoroalkenes with thiols. This reaction provides a new pathway to prepare thioesters under mild conditions without the use of any additives. Mechanistic studies revealed that in situ generated HF facilitated the C-F bond cleavage in an autocatalytic manner.

Abstract
A direct Csp3-H bond oxidative thioesterification of methyl ketones with aromatic thiols/disulfides promoted by TBAI/K2S2O8 has been developed. The reaction provides successfully a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of functionalized α-ketothioesters of aromatic thiols. This practical methodology exhibits readily available starting materials, large-scale applicability, synthetic application, and broad functional group tolerance. A possible mechanism for the transformation is proposed.

Abstract
In this paper, we report an efficient synthetic method for thioester formation from sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate, organic halides, and aryl anhydrides. In the one-pot two-step reactions developed in this study, sodium thiosulfate was used as the sulfur surrogate for acylation with anhydrides, followed by substitution with organic halides through the in situ generation of thioaroylate. Furthermore, two important organic compounds could be successfully synthesized using our developed method. The advantages of the one-pot two-step reactions are operational simplicity, structurally diverse products with 42%-90% yields, use of relatively low toxic and odourless reagents, and easy applicability to large-scale operation.

Abstract
A one-pot synthesis of thioesters directly from carboxylic acids, N,N'-diphenylthiourea, triethylamine, and primary alkyl halides is described. Microwave-assisted heating and a catalytic amount of 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine (DMAP) further improved the yields. Both aromatic and aliphatic carboxylic acids were converted to the corresponding thioesters, and many functional groups were compatible with this reaction. Several possible reaction intermediates were investigated, and the quaternary ammonium salts, derived from alkyl halides and tertiary amines, were the intermediates to yield thioesters. A new reaction mechanism for this thioesterification is proposed.

Abstract
A practical, atom-economical, base-directed, and highly efficient method for the generation of different selective products through a common aldol intermediate of 2-oxoaldehydes and malonate half esters is successfully developed. The addition of a strong basic environment (potassium tert-butoxide) catalyzed the synthesis of stable decarboxylative aldol products (α-hydroxy ketones), while the Doebner modification procedure resulted in decarboxylative elimination to (E)-α,β-unsaturated esters in good yields. The application of this method in one pot and one pot/two steps with azoles helped to develop regioselective α- and β-azolated products in appreciable yields.
