Abstract
A protocol for FeCl2-catalyzed oxidative decarbonylative α-alkylation of acyl furans using alkyl aldehydes as the alkylating agents has been developed. This protocol affords α-alkyl-α-acylfurans in moderate to good yields in a practical and sustainable fashion. Mechanistic studies suggest that the reaction proceeds via generation of an alkyl radical from the alkyl aldehyde, addition of the radical to the furan ring, and subsequent rearomatization.

Abstract
The new reactivity of α,β-unsaturated enaminones driven by their "dual electronic attitude" is reported. We introduce unexplored, α-enaminone synthones and reveal the unusual functionalities of these building blocks. The feasibility of this new concept is demonstrated in the direct functionalization of enaminone precursors, such as alkylation; 1,2- 1,3-, or 1,4-addition; and C-O bond formation. The general and potential applicability is presented through the collective synthesis of several important classes of heterocycles via controlled cyclizations of easily accessible common precursors. The rapid composition of novel key α-enaminone synthones yields an assembly of oxazines, azaspirones, quinolinones, and quinolinols in a regio- and chemoselective fashion.

Abstract
We report regioselective intramolecular direct C-3 and C-2 arylations of the indole rings of 3-indolecarboxamides for diastereospecific production of spiro-indoline-3,3′-oxindoles and 5,11-dihydro-6H-indolo[3,2-c]quinolin-6-ones, respectively, under different reaction conditions.

Abstract
Selective palladium diacetate-catalyzed α- and β-arylations of the furan rings of (ortho-bromophenyl)furan-2-yl-methanones 1 under two different conditions are reported.
