Abstract
As frequently encountered byproducts of isocyanate chemistry, hydrogen sulfide and related sulfur containing compounds should be treated in a safe way to lower their adverse health and environmental effects, especially in large scale syntheses. As a proof of concept, we report herein an example of in situ recycling of sulfur byproduct to reductant in the synthesis of bioactive 2-aminobenzoxazoles 3. Using an Fe/S catalytic system, this heterocyclic scaffold could be obtained from o-nitrophenols 1 with isothiocyates 2 via direct redox condensation consisting of reduction of the nitro group of 1 by the sulfur moiety of 2.

Abstract
A cascade oxazole-benzannulation for the synthesis of naphtho[2,3-d]oxazoles has been developed employing ortho-alkynylamidoarylketones as substrates. This procedure provides the advantage of preparing a wide variety of substituents on naphtho[2,3-d]oxazole structures. In addition, o-alkynylamidoarylketones could be prepared from easily accessible and a wide variety of commercially available starting materials. Therefore, this method is a judicious choice of strategy to synthesize naphtho[2,3-d]oxazoles with a great variety of substituents. In this work, 27 examples were demonstrated to provide the desired products in moderate to good yields.

Abstract
Chemoselective construction of naphthoxazoles (NapOx) via a three-component annulation reaction enables proline selective labeling of peptides in solution or in solid-phase synthesis. The fluorogenic peptides possess low cytotoxicity, efficient cell membrane permeability and excellent bioimaging potential for biomedical applications.

Abstract
A radical cascade strategy for the modular synthesis of five-membered heteroarenes (e.g. oxazoles, imidazoles) from feedstock reagents (e.g. alcohols, amines, nitriles) has been developed. This double C-H oxidation is enabled by in situ generated imidate and acyloxy radicals, which afford regio- and chemo-selective β C-H bis-functionalization. The broad synthetic utility of this tandem hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) approach to access azoles is included, along with experiments and computations that provide insight into the selectivity and mechanism of both HAT events.

Abstract
The unprecedented reaction of tertiary amines with 2(3 H)-benzoxazolones has been investigated. In the presence of the Ph3P-I2 reagent system, the reaction of both acyclic and cyclic aliphatic tertiary amines led to the formation of 2- N, N-dialkylaminobenzoxazoles with the selective cleavage of an alkyl group. Especially, N-(2-iodoethyl)piperazinyl derivatives were rapidly produced in good yields when using DABCO as the nitrogen source. Only in the cases when the nucleophilicity of the substrates exceeds that of the amine, competitive self-condensation of benzoxazolones then proceeds preferentially. 31P{1H}-NMR study suggested the involvement of an aryloxyphosphonium intermediate and/or possibly 2-iodobenzoxazole which activates the C-2 position of benzoxazolones toward nucleophilic aromatic substitution.

Abstract
A highly efficient and green strategy for the synthesis of 2-arylbenzoxazoles, 2-arylbenzimidazoles, and 2-arylbenzothiazoles catalyzed by phosphonium acidic ionic liquid has been developed via the condensation of o-aminophenol, o-phenylenediamines, and o-aminothiophenol, respectively, with aldehydes. The reaction has a good yield, the broad substrate scope, and mild condition. Triphenyl(butyl-3-sulphonyl)phosphonium toluenesulfonate catalyst was easily obtained from cheap and available starting materials through a one-pot synthesis. Its structure was identified by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 31P NMR, and FT-IR techniques. Other properties including thermal stability and acidity were determined by TGA and Hammett acidity function method. Interestingly, the catalyst can maintain its constantly outstanding performance till the fourth recovery. A green, straightforward, and efficient synthesis of 2-arylbenzoxazoles, 2-arylbenzimidazoles, and 2-arylbenzothiazoles catalyzed by phosphonium acidic ionic liquid has been developed.![]()
