Abstract
A convenient method for oxidant-promoted radical cascade acylation or decarbonylative alkylation of 1,7-dienes with aldehydes has been established. This method allows for the rapid construction of N-containing polycyclic skeletons in a highly regio- and stereoselective manner. This transformation provides a simple and efficient method for the preparation of a range of tetrahydro-6H-indeno[2,1-c]quinolinone derivatives by sequential formation of three new carbon-carbon bonds. Additionally, this radical cascade cyclization can selectively convert aldehydes into aroyl/primary aliphatic acyl radicals and secondary or tertiary alkyl radicals.

Abstract
Without any additives and photocatalysts, the visible-light-promoted radical cascade reaction between alkynoates and phenyl disulfides has been developed at room temperature. Through S-S bond photolysis and homolytic cleavage, addition of a sulfur radical, aryl migration, decarboxylation, and H atom abstraction, the cascade reaction provides an efficient and practical route to trisubstituted 1,1-diarylvinylsulfides with a wide scope of substrates and good to excellent yields.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed decarbonylative alkylation-cyanation of styrene derivatives with aliphatic aldehydes and trimethylsilyl cyanide to provide chain elongated nitriles is reported. Using TBHP as an oxidant and free radical initiator, the reaction can smoothly convert abundant α-di-substituted, α-mono-substituted and linear aliphatic aldehydes into the corresponding 3°, 2° and 1° alkyl radicals to initiate the subsequent radical-type difunctionalization of various styrenes.

Abstract
This paper describes the synthesis of unsymmetrical biaryls by the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of acyl chlorides with potassium perfluorobenzoates. This transformation is unique in that it involves simultaneous decarbonylation and decarboxylation under redox-neutral conditions. Compared to conventional cross-coupling protocols for the synthesis of unsymmetrical biaryls, the two reactants in this synthetic strategy can be readily prepared from abundant and inexpensive aromatic carboxylic acids.

Abstract
A computational study of metal-free cyanomethylation and cyclization of aryl alkynoates with acetonitrile is carried out employing density functional theory and high-level coupled-cluster methods, such as coupled-cluster singles and doubles with perturbative triples [CCSD(T)]. Our results indicate that the reaction of aryl alkynoates with acetonitrile in the presence of tert-butyl peroxybenzoate (TBPB) under metal-free conditions tends to proceed through cyanomethylation, spirocyclization and ester migration of the kinetically favoured coumarin derivatives. 1,2-Ester migration in the spiro-radical intermediate 10 does not proceed via the formation of the carboxyl radical 11 suggested by Sun and co-workers. Our results also demonstrate that the t-butoxy radical is substantially responsible the formation of the cyanomethyl radical by the abstraction of a hydrogen atom from acetonitrile. A computational study of metal-free cyanomethylation and cyclization of aryl alkynoates with acetonitrile is carried out employing density functional theory and high-level coupled-cluster methods, such as [CCSD(T)].![]()

Abstract
For the convenient introduction of simple linear/branched alkyl groups into biologically important azaspirocyclohexadienones, a practical Fe-catalyzed decarbonylative cascade spiro-cyclization of N-aryl cinnamamides with aliphatic aldehydes to provide alkylated 1-azaspiro-cyclohexadienones was developed. Aliphatic aldehydes were oxidative decarbonylated into primary, secondary and tertiary alkyl radicals conveniently and allows for the subsequent cascade construction of dual C(sp3)-C(sp3) and C=O bonds via radical addition, spirocyclization and oxidation sequence.

Abstract
An oxidative trifunctionalization of aryl alkynoates has been devised via the chalcogenide radical triggered intramolecular 1,4-aryl migration/decarboxylation cascade to prepare 1,1-dichalcogenide tetrasubstituted alkenes in high yields (up to 98 %). This operationally simple reaction proceeds under metal-free conditions, can be executed on gram scale, and highlights formal 1,1-difunctionalization of alkynes. Synthetic potential of this protocol was demonstrated through a twofold cascade rearrangement to access highly conjugated tetra-selenylated alkenes along with a cross-dehydrogenative annulation to prepare fluorene derivative.
