Abstract
n-Bu4NI/K2S2O8 mediated C-N coupling between aldehydes and amides is reported. A strong electronic effect is observed on the aromatic aldehyde substrates. The transformylation from aldehyde to amide takes place exclusively when an aromatic aldehyde bears electron-donating groups at either the ortho or para position of the formyl group, while the cross-dehydrogenative coupling dominates in the absence of these groups. Both the density functional theory (DFT) thermochemistry calculations and experimental data support the proposed single electron transfer mechanism with the formation of an acyl radical intermediate in the cross-dehydrogenative coupling. The n-Bu4NI/K2S2O8 mediated oxidative cyclization between 2-aminobenzamide and aldehydes is also reported, with four quinazolin-4(3H)-ones prepared in 65-99% yields.

Abstract
n-Bu4NI/K2S2O8 mediated transformylation from p-anisaldehyde to primary amides is reported. The mechanistic studies suggest the reaction occurs via a single electron transfer pathway. Based on the DFT electronic structure calculations of various reaction pathways, the most plausible mechanism involves the formation of a phenyl radical cation and an arenium ion as the key intermediates. It represents the first example where p-anisaldehyde is employed as a formyl source via a non-metal mediated Csp2-Csp2 bond cleavage.

Abstract
We report the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of a 3d6 Cr(0) complex ([Cr(LMes)3]; λem=735 nm) with comparable photophysical properties to those of ECL-active complexes of 4d6 or 5d6 precious metal ions. The electrochemical potentials of [Cr(LMes)3] are more negative than those of [Ir(ppy)3] and render the [Cr(LMes)3]* excited state inaccessible through conventional co-reactant ECL with tri-n-propylamine or oxalate. ECL can be obtained, however, through the annihilation route in which potentials sufficient to oxidise and reduce the luminophore are alternately applied. When combined with [Ir(ppy)3] (λem=520 nm), the annihilation ECL of [Cr(LMes)3] was greatly enhanced whereas that of [Ir(ppy)3] was diminished. Under appropriate conditions, the relative intensities of the two spectrally distinct emissions can be controlled through the applied potentials. From this starting point for ECL with 3d6 metal complexes, we discuss some directions for future development.

Abstract
With the rapid economic development, the discharge of industrial wastewater and municipal wastewater containing many refractory organic pollutants is increasing, so there is an urgent need for processes that can treat refractory organics in wastewater. Iron-carbon micro electrolysis and advanced oxidation based on persulfate radicals (SO4-·) have received much attention in the field of organic wastewater treatment. Iron-carbon micro electrolysis activated persulfate (Fe-C/PS) treatment of wastewater is characterized by high oxidation efficiency and no secondary pollution. This paper reviews the mechanism and process of Fe-C/PS, degradation of organics in different wastewater, and the influencing factors. In addition, the degradation efficiency and optimal reaction conditions (oxidant concentration, catalyst concentration, iron-carbon material, and pH) of Fe-C/PS in the treatment of refractory organics in wastewater are summarized. Moreover, the important factors affecting the degradation of organics by Fe-C/PS are presented. Finally, we analyzed the challenges and the prospects for the future of Fe-C/PS in application, and concluded that the main future directions are to improve the degradation efficiency and cost by synthesizing stable and efficient catalysts, optimizing process parameters, and expanding the application scope.

Abstract
A PCl3-mediated conversion of tert-butyl esters into esters and amides in one-pot under air is developed. This novel protocol is highlighted by the synthesis of skeletons of bioactive molecules and gram-scale reactions. Mechanistic studies revealed that this transformation involves the formation of an acid chloride in situ, which is followed by reactions with alcohols or amines to afford the desired products.

Abstract
The present work describes for the first time, the synthesis and characterization of a bi-functional catalyst consisting of nickel and supported 12-tungstophosphoric acid as well as its application in one pot oxidative esterification of benzaldehyde and benzyl alcohol to benzoate ester. The said reactions were operated without any base at a low temperature and atmospheric pressure. The influence of reaction parameters such as nickel concentration, molar ratio of substrate to H2O2 as well as methanol, catalyst amount, reaction temperature and reaction time were investigated to optimize the conditions for maximum conversion with good selectivity towards the desired product. The superiority of the present work lies in obtaining higher conversion as well as higher selectivity of the desired product with a high TON for both the systems under sustainable reaction conditions. Moreover, the catalyst could be recovered and reused for up to three cycles without any significant loss in its selectivity. The obtained conversion as well as selectivity were discussed with a number of control experiments and based on the obtained results, mechanisms for both the reactions were proposed. Furthermore, the difference in activity towards oxidative esterification of benzaldehyde and benzyl alcohol was also correlated with the proposed mechanism.

Abstract
The development of new hydrogen-atom transfer (HAT) strategies within the framework of photoredox catalysis is highly appealing for its power to activate a desired C-H bond in the substrate leading to its selective functionalization. Reported here is the first photoredox-mediated hydrogen-atom transfer method for the efficient synthesis of ynones, ynamides, and ynoates with high regio- and chemoselectivity by direct functionalization of Csp2 (O)-H bonds. The broad synthetic application of this method has been demonstrated by the selective functionalization of C(O)-H bonds within complex molecular scaffolds.
