Abstract
This review aims at providing an overview of the most significant applications of fluorine-containing ligands reported in the literature starting from 2001 until mid-2021. The ligands are classified according to the nature of the donor atoms involved. This review highlights both metal-ligand interactions and the structure-reactivity relationships resulting from the presence of the fluorine atom or fluorine-containing substituents on chiral catalysts.

Abstract
New derivatives of FAM (ferrocenyl aziridinyl methanol) ligands NFAM1-4 (naphthyl ferrocenyl aziridinyl methanol) and CFAM1-4 (cyclohexyl ferrocenyl aziridinyl methanol) were synthesized to form a small ligand library and used as chiral catalysts with AgOAc for the asymmetric synthesis of heteroaryl-substituted pyrrolidines by the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (1,3-DC) reaction of azomethine ylides. 2-Thienyl, 2-furyl, 2-, 3-, and 4-pyridyl aldimines were prepared and used with N-methylmaleimide, dimethyl maleate, tert-butyl acrylate, methyl acrylate, and acrylonitrile to form the corresponding heteroaryl-substituted pyrrolidines. 1,3-DC reactions yielded the expected cycloadducts in up to 89% yield and up to 76% ee that could be increased up to 95% ee upon crystallization. New chiral ligands NFAM1-4 and CFAM1-4 were fully characterized, and their absolute stereochemistry was determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis.

Abstract
An efficient route for the synthesis of multifunctionalized pyrrolidines based on copper-catalyzed diastereoselective [3 + 2]-cycloaddition of nitroalkenes with azomethine ylides was developed. Novel fluorinated heterocycles - β-fluoro-β-nitropyrrolidines - were accessed via this method. The products can be prepared in good to excellent yields and with high diastereoselectivity. Subsequent transformations of pyrrolidines including oxidative aromatization into fluorinated pyrrolines and medicinally attractive β-fluoro-NH-pyrroles as well as chemoselective reduction reactions were demonstrated. Application of the developed procedures for the non-fluorinated analogues was demonstrated to lead to various β-substituted pyrrole derivatives.

Abstract
A novel process involving Grignard-reagent-promoted desulfonylation/intramolecular coupling of readily available α-fluoro-α,β-unsaturated-(2-pyridyl)sulfones was realized that provided a series of polysubstituted 2-(1-fluorovinyl)pyridines in good yields. The intrinsic coordination between pyridine and Mg(II) along with the "negative fluorine effect" of the substrates should play the key role for the smooth transformation in the absence of transition-metal catalysts.

Abstract
A series of more than 20 multisubstituted pyrrolidine-2-carboxylates were synthesized via a one-pot cycloaddition of an araldehyde, an amino acid ester, and a chalcone catalyzed by I2/K2CO3 in tetrahydrofuran at 80 °C. The advantages of this method are readily available starting materials, mild conditions, and simple operation, and it is metal free and yields are good to excellent.
