Abstract
In organic reactions, chemoselectivity refers to the selective reactivity of one functional group in the presence of another. This can be more successful if the reagent and reaction parameters are appropriately chosen. One-pot reactions have been shown to be an effective structural variety technique for the development of novel heterocyclic or carbocyclic compounds. This review article focuses on recent efforts by researchers from around the world to synthesise novel organic molecules utilising these methodologies (2013-2024), as well as their mechanism insights. The substrate, catalyst, solvent, and temperature conditions all have a significant impact on chemoselectivity in the organic reactions described here. The manipulation of chemoselectivity in organic processes creates new potential for the production of novel heterocycles and carbocycles.

Abstract
The arene cyclopropanation between diazo compounds and benzene is well known to produce a tautomeric mixture of norcaradiene and cycloheptatriene in favour of the latter species. Nevertheless, previous studies have suggested that the initially formed norcaradiene can be stabilized by a C-7 cyano group with prevention of its 6π-electrocyclic ring opening. According to this feature, a synthetic route to functionalized cyclohexadienes has been designed using α-cyanodiazoacetates and α-diazo-β-ketonitriles as the starting materials, respectively. The Rh2(esp)2-catalyzed arene cyclopropanation of α-cyanodiazoacetates in benzene afforded the expected 7-alkoxycarbonyl-7-cyanonorcaradienes as isolable compounds, which then served as templates for the second cyclopropanation with ethyl diazoacetate or α-cyanodiazocarbonyls to enable the formation of bis(cyclopropanated) adducts. Their subsequent treatment with SmI2 triggered a double ring-opening process, allowing for the generation of 1,4- and/or 1,3-cyclohexadienes as either regio- or diastereomeric mixtures. On the other hand, the norcaradienes generated from phenyl- or methyl-substituted α-diazo-β-ketonitriles were found to undergo an in situ rearrangement to yield dihydrobenzofurans that could be converted to benzofuran derivatives by DDQ oxidation.

Abstract
An intramolecular C-C formation process based on catalytic asymmetric oxetane opening by carbon nucleophiles has been developed, which provides rapid access to a range of valuable enantioenriched 2,3-dihydrobenzo[b]oxepines. With the combination of Sc(OTf)3 and a Box ligand, good chemical efficiency and enantioselectivity were achieved under mild conditions. The products are also useful precursors to other valuable structures, such as the bicyclo[3.2.2]nonane derivatives.

Abstract
A simple but efficient one-pot or sequential copper-catalyzed protocol using 2-bromoaldehydes and active methylene group containing substrates that affords multifunctional naphthalenes, phenanthrenes, quinolines, and benzo[b]carbazoles via Knoevenagel condensation, C-arylation, and decarboxylation, followed by aromatization, is developed. The reaction utilizes the potential of Knoevenagel intermediates and does not require any ancillary ligand. The phenanthrene products thus obtained show moderate fluorescence activity. Structural elaboration of the products to obtain dihydrobenzoquinazolines is also highlighted.

Abstract
The palladium catalyzed synthesis of 14-phenylbenzo[ f]tetraphene-9-carbonitrile derivatives as core polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) was achieved via an intramolecular annulation and decyanogenative C-H bond alkenylation strategy. A readily synthesized Knoevenagel condensation product of [1,1'-biphenyl]-2,2'-dicarbaldehyde with benzyl cyanide converted successfully into 14-phenylbenzo[ f]tetraphene-9-carbonitrile derivatives in excellent yields up to 94%. The transformation involves an intramolecular cascade C-C bond formation along with a C-H bond cleavage sequence.
