Abstract
A simple and efficient two-step method for the synthesis of silacyclohexanones starting from bis(bromoethylsilanes) using TosMIC is presented. The prepared silacyclohexanones were transformed to nine different heterocycles with silicon incorporation. In addition, the developed methodology was used for the synthesis of a sila analogue of the HDAC6 inhibitor tubastatin A.

Abstract
Herein, a one-pot synthesis of 3-substituted indoles from 2-(2-nitro-1-phenylethyl)cyclohexanone derivatives catalyzed by Pd/C is reported. The starting materials can be easily prepared by the reaction of substituted ketones and nitroalkenes. The facile experimental procedure comprises the treatment of 2-(2-nitro-1-phenylethyl)cyclohexanone derivatives with H2 as a hydrogen donor in the presence of 10 mol % Pd/C. Subsequently, the exchange of H2 with CH2═CH2 as a hydrogen acceptor affords a variety of 3-substituted indoles in high yields. The formation of intermediate nitrones is essential for a smooth reaction.

Abstract
A three-component cascade reaction comprising cyclic ketones, arylamines, and benzoylmethylene malonates has been developed to access 4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-indoles. The reaction was achieved through cooperative enamine-Brønsted catalysis in high yields with wide substrate scopes. Mechanistic studies identified the role of the Brønsted acid catalyst and revealed the formation of an imine intermediate, which was confirmed by X-ray crystallography.

Abstract
An unprecedented metal-free and catalyst-free synthesis of benzo[c]chromeno[4,3,2-gh]phenanthridine derivatives, a class of 1,6-diheterophenalenoid heterocycle, is reported for the first time. The oxidative cross-coupling reaction for the remote cyclization is achieved through the in situ generated o-quinone methide intermediate followed by an electrocyclic ring closure reaction. The aromatization of the cyclohexane ring is achieved by sequential H shift, hydroxylation, and elimination reaction. DMSO-assisted concomitant cyclization and aromatization reactions are also disclosed for the first time.

Abstract
Natural product-inspired compound collections serve as excellent sources for the identification of new bioactive compounds to treat disease. However, such compounds must necessarily be more structurally-enriched than traditional screening compounds, therefore inventive synthetic strategies and reliable methods are needed to prepare them. Amongst the various possible starting materials that could be considered for the synthesis of natural product-inspired compounds, ketones can be especially valuable due to the vast variety of complexity-building synthetic transformations that they can take part in, their high prevalence as commercial building blocks, and relative ease of synthesis. With a view towards developing a unified synthetic strategy for the preparation of next generation bioactive compound collections, this review considers whether ketones could serve as general precursors in this regard, and summarises the opulence of synthetic transformations available for the annulation of natural product ring-systems to ketone starting materials.

Abstract
We describe a copper-mediated method that enables the synthesis of seven-membered-ring fused pyrroles (7-mrFPs). The protocol proceeds via an in situ spiro-intermediate ring expansion and tolerates a library of 7-mrFP derivatives with a broad range of functional groups in a simple step with tangible parameters and substrate adaptations. These rare 7-mrFPs are now accessible on a millimolar scale, and selected examples exhibit high antioxidant activity.

Abstract
The synthesis of NH-free pyrroles via Pd-catalyzed annulation of enaminones and alkenes is reported. With the catalysis of Pd(II), the activation of triple C(sp2)-H bonds, including one internal C(sp2)-H bond in enaminone, has been activated to provide various pyrroles. The interesting evolution of hydrogen gas from the reactions has been observed by a hydrogen detector.

Abstract
This review article features selected examples on the synthesis of functionalized pyrroles that were reported between 2014 and 2019. Pyrrole is an important nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocycle that can be found in numerous compounds of biological and material significance. Given its vast importance, pyrrole continues to be an attractive target for the development of new synthetic reactions. The contents of this article are organized by the starting materials, which can be broadly classified into four different types: substrates bearing π-systems, substrates bearing carbonyl and other polar groups, and substrates bearing heterocyclic motifs. Brief discussions on plausible reaction mechanisms for most transformations are also presented.

Abstract
An iodine-promoted divergent thiolation of unprotected anilines with thiols for the synthesis of sulfide anilines has been described. The combinational use of I2 and DMSO played an important role to realize this kind of transformation without the aid of a metal catalyst and strong oxidants. The reaction selectivity was well controlled to provide mono-, bis-, and trisubstituted diaryl sulfide derivatives. More importantly, iodination and sulfenylation can occur simultaneously to provide useful multifunctionalized iodoaniline products. This method afforded an efficient protocol for the construct C-S and C-I bonds from the C-H bond under mild reaction conditions.

Abstract
An efficient preparation of sulfamate-fused 2-aminopyrroles was achieved through an isocyanide-based three-component [1+2+2] annulation of isocyanides, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates, and sulfamate-derived cyclic imines in good to excellent yields (up to 99 %). This reaction proceeds smoothly without any activation or modification of substances under neutral and metal-free conditions. The reaction could also be conveniently performed on a gram scale.
