Abstract
The first and concise syntheses of the anticancer agent diplofuranone A and the fatty acid-derived metabolite diapolic acid A have been demonstrated using easily accessible and commercially available starting materials. The key feature of these syntheses is the efficient diversification of highly stereo- and chemoselectively constructed (E,E)-1,6-dioxo-2,4-dienes using ruthenium catalytic conditions, which enabled straightforward access to diversely substituted bioactive molecules.

Abstract
An undescribed 5,6-dihydropyran-2-one, namely diplopyrone C, was isolated and characterized from the cultures of an isolate of the fungus Diplodia corticola recovered from Quercus suber in Algeria. The structure and relative stereostructure of (5S,6S,7Z,9S,10S)-5-hydroxy-6-(2-(3-methyloxiran-2-yl)vinyl)-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-2-one were assigned essentially based on NMR and MS data. Furthermore, ten known compounds were isolated and identified in the same cultures. The most abundant product, the tetracyclic pimarane diterpene sphaeropsidin A, was tested for insecticidal effects against the model sucking aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum. Results showed a toxic dose-dependent oral activity of sphaeropsidin A, with an LC50 of 9.64 mM.

Abstract
This work details an asymmetric gold-ligand cooperative catalysis that transforms readily accessible chiral/achiral propargylic sulfonamides into chiral 3-pyrrolines. A bifunctional biphenyl-2-ylphosphine ligand featuring a chiral tetrahydroisoquinoline fragment is essential for the observed metal-ligand cooperation and the asymmetric induction. 2,5-cis-3-Pyrrolines are formed with excellent diastereoselectivities in a "matched" scenario. The "mismatched" scenario by using the ligand enantiomer delivers 2,5-trans-3-pyrrolines with >5/1 diastereoselectivity. The synthetic utilities of this chemistry are demonstrated.

Abstract
C-Acyl furanosides are versatile synthetic precursors to a variety of natural products, nucleoside analogues, and pharmaceutical molecules. This report addresses the unmet challenge in preparing C-acyl furanosides by developing a cross-coupling reaction between glycosyl esters and carboxylic acids. A key step is the photoredox activation of the glycosyl ester, which promotes the homolysis of the strong anomeric C–O bond through CO2 evolution to afford glycosyl radicals. This method embraces a large scope of furanoses, pyranoses, and carboxylic acids, and is readily applicable to the synthesis of a thymidine analogue and diplobifuranylone B, as well as the late-stage modification of (+)-sclareolide. The convenient preparation of the redox active glycosyl ester from native sugars and the compatibility with common furanoses exemplifies the potential of this method in medicinal chemistry. A cross-coupling of glycosyl esters with carboxylic acids to prepare C-acyl furanosides and pyranosides. The reaction proceeds through photoredox activation of the glycosyl ester to afford glycosyl radicals.![]()

Abstract
The opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the "critical priority pathogens" due to its multidrug resistance to a wide range of antibiotics. Its ability to invade and damage host tissues is due to the use of quorum sensing (QS) to collectively produce a plethora of virulence factors. Inhibition of QS is an attractive strategy for new antimicrobial agents because it disrupts the initial events of infection without killing the pathogen. Highly diverse microorganisms as endophytes represent an under-explored source of bioactive natural products, offering opportunities for the discovery of novel QS inhibitors (QSI). In the present work, the objective was to explore selective QSIs within a unique collection of fungal endophytes isolated from the tropical palm Astrocaryum sciophilum. The fungi were cultured, extracted, and screened for their antibacterial and specific anti-QS activities against P. aeruginosa. The endophytic strain Lasiodiplodia venezuelensis was prioritized for scaled-up fractionation for its selective activity, leading to the isolation of eight compounds in a single step. Among them, two pyran-derivatives were found to be responsible for the QSI activity, with an effect on some QS-regulated virulence factors. Additional non-targeted metabolomic studies on P. aeruginosa documented their effects on the production of various virulence-related metabolites.

Abstract
α,β-Butenolides with ≥96% enantiomeric excess are synthesized from β,γ-butenolides via a novel Cu(I)-ligand cooperative catalysis. The reaction is enabled by a chiral biphenyl-2-ylphosphine ligand featuring a remote tertiary amino group. Density functional theory studies support the cooperation between the metal center and the ligand basic amino group during the initial soft deprotonation and the key asymmetric γ-protonation. Remarkably, other coinage metals, that is, Ag and Au, can readily assume the same role as Cu in this asymmetric isomerization chemistry.

Abstract
A diastereoselective and high-yielding gold-catalyzed synthesis of trans-2-silyl-4,5-dihydrofurans is described. In addition to a sequential manner, this reaction could be performed in a one-pot procedure from propargylsilanes and aldehydes. A mechanistic proposal for the cis-trans isomerization step is formulated. To provide experimental support for this proposal, which involves ring opening/ring closing steps of the dihydrofuran, several isotopically labeled experiments, intramolecular capture of a proposed intermediate, and construction of a Hammett plot have been performed.

Abstract
An efficient kinetic resolution of propargyloxy dicarbonyl compounds via asymmetric [2,3]-Wittig rearrangement was achieved by using a chiral N,N'-dioxide/NiII complex catalyst. Various chiral α-allenyl alcohols were obtained in high enantioselectivities under mild conditions. The utility of this method was readily demonstrated in the asymmetric synthesis of the chiral 2,5-dihydrofuran derivative.

Abstract
Highly diastereoselective synthesis of 2-hydrazinated 2,3-dihydrofurans in good to excellent yields involving an interrupted Feist-Bénary type reaction by treating a wide variety of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, including curcumins, with α-hydrazinated nitroalkenes is reported here. The first ever enantioselective reaction of α-hydrazinonitroalkenes has also been carried out with two selected 1,3-dicarbonyls, dimedone and cyclohexanone by employing an l-t-leucine derived squaramide as the chiral organocatalyst to afford the enantio-enriched 2-hydrazinodihydrofurans as single diastereomers in good yields and with good enantioselectivities.
