Abstract
Variously substituted ethyl 6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyrimidine-5-carboxylates can be easily prepared by a metal carbonyl mediated rearrangement of ethyl 3-oxo-2-(1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)propanoates. The irradiation of a mixture of oxadiazoles and Fe(CO)5 in wet solvents with a 365 nm LED at room temperature for 2 h followed by heating at 80 °C for 2 h gives pyrimidines in up to 90% yield. This procedure enables the preparation of 6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyrimidine-5-carboxylates with various aryl substituents at the C2 and alkyl or aryl substituents at the C4 position. 1-(1,2,4-Oxadiazol-5-yl)propan-2-ones analogously give 6-methylpyrimidin-4(3H)-ones, albeit in lower yields. Ethyl 6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyrimidine-5-carboxylates can be easily modified at the C6 position by bromination followed by cross-coupling reactions to give pyrimidine-5-carboxylates with pyridyl, amino and ethynyl substituents.

Abstract
A new synthetic protocol has been developed to construct polyfunctional isoxazol-5-one derivatives with imidazole moiety. It is based on the Knoevenagel condensation of isoxazol-5-one with aldehydes and subsequent Michael addition of imidazole N-oxides as part of a tandem three-component process. This reaction proceeds smoothly in moderate-to-good yield under catalyst-free conditions.

Abstract
This manuscript reports an impressive and facile strategy for synthesizing isoxazole derivatives using immobilized Cu (I) in metformin-functionalized β-cyclodextrin as a catalyst. The architecture of this catalyst was characterized by different analytical techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, Field emission scanning electron microscopy, and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The catalyst showed remarkable reusability even after 7 consecutive runs.

Abstract
α-Diazopyrroles selectively react with enamines at room temperature to give either (4+2)-cycloaddition-dehydroamination cascade products, pyrrolo[2,1-c][1,2,4]triazines, or azo coupling products. The reaction was used for the synthesis of functionalized ortho-fused heterocycles with new tetrahydrobenzo[e]pyrrolo[2,1-c][1,2,4]triazine and tetrahydro-6H-cyclohepta[e]pyrrolo[2,1-c][1,2,4]triazine frameworks. Unstable azo compounds, 2-[(2-aminovinyl)diazenyl]pyrroles, were obtained from enamines of tetralone or acyclic ketones. According to the density functional theory calculations, (4+2)-cycloaddition of α-diazopyrroles with enamines proceeds in a nonconcerted manner via the zwitterionic intermediate, which undergoes cyclization to pyrrolotriazine or a competitive 1,5-prototropic shift leading to the formation of azo coupling product.

Abstract
A method has been developed for the preparation of 2-alkyl-6-aryl-, 2-aryl-6-aryl and 2,6-diaryl-5-aryl/hetaryl-substituted methyl 4-oxo-1,4-dihydropyridine-3-carboxylates by Mo(CO)6-mediated ring expansion of methyl 2-(isoxazol-5-yl)-3-oxopropanoates. The high reactivity of 4-oxo-1,4-dihydropyridine-3-carboxylates synthesized provide easy access to 2,4,6-triaryl-substituted and 1,2,5,6-tetrasubstituted nicotinates.

Abstract
The synthesis of 5-aryl- and 4-aryl/hetaryl/cyclopropyl/alkynyl-5-aryl-1H-pyrrole-2,3-diones by formal isomerization of isoxazole-5-carbaldehydes mediated Mo(CO)6 in wet MeCN has been developed. The resulting 1H-pyrrole-2,3-diones are good precursors for substituted 1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]quinoxalines.

Abstract
1,4-Conjugate addition of ((chloromethyl)sulfonyl)benzenes to arylideneisoxazol-5-ones, followed by one-pot, N-selective trapping in the presence of electrophiles, was investigated. This strategy led to the synthesis of new, stable N-protected isoxazol-5-ones in good yields and high diastereolectivity. The study of the reactivity of obtained products in the presence of the Mo(CO)6/H2O system allowed the development of a cascade reaction leading to novel methyl ketones in high yields and unchanged dr bearing an uncommon chloromethinearylsulfonyl end group.

Abstract
We herein describe a simple and metal-free domino methodology to synthesize 2-aminopyrroles from alkynyl vinyl hydrazides. The domino reaction involves a novel propargylic 3,4-diaza-Cope rearrangement and a tandem isomerization/5-exo-dig N-cyclization reaction. By using this approach, a number of 2-aminopyrroles with diverse substituents have been prepared.

Abstract
A four-step quasi one-pot procedure for the preparation of fully substituted nicotinates from ketone enamines and 4-methylideneisoxazol-5-ones has been developed. The reaction sequence involves (1) reaction of 4-methylideneisoxazol-5-ones with ketone enamines with the formation of isoxazole-5-ols, (2) their O-methylation with diazomethane, (3) hydrogenative cleavage of the O-N bond in 5-methoxyisoxazoles under action of Mo(CO)6/H2O and simultaneous isomerization and condensation of the formed enamines, with the formation of dihydropyridines, and (4) aromatization of the latter.

Abstract
A convenient, "one-pot" synthesis of trisubstituted pyrroles via a Ru(ii)-catalyzed, Cu(ii)-mediated reaction of substituted isoxazoles with sulfonylhydrazones has been developed. A series of highly functionalized pyrroles are obtained via a synergistic formation of new C-C and C-N bonds. Mechanistic investigations were carried out to propose the plausible pathway. This protocol provides a facile and expeditious approach for the synthesis of various heterocyclic compounds bearing the pyrrole skeleton.

Abstract
An efficient synthesis of 4-arylidene-3-alkylisoxazole-5(4H)-ones has been implemented
via the three-component cyclocondensation of aryl(heteroaryl)aldehydes with hydroxylamine
hydrochloride and β-ketoesters. The potassium 2,5-dioxoimidazolidin-1-ide has
been introduced as the new organocatalyst to facilitate this heterocyclization. In the current
process, three starting materials, including substituted benzaldehydes/heterocyclic aromatic
aldehydes, hydroxylamine hydrochloride, and ethyl acetoacetate/propyl acetoacetate/butyryl
acetoacetate have been successfully used to synthesize the number of substituted isoxazole-
5(4H)-ones in good to high yields in ethylene glycol as a green reaction medium at 80 ºC. The
low catalyst loading is also a main advantage over some reported catalysts.

Abstract
This review article features selected examples on the synthesis of functionalized pyrroles that were reported between 2014 and 2019. Pyrrole is an important nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocycle that can be found in numerous compounds of biological and material significance. Given its vast importance, pyrrole continues to be an attractive target for the development of new synthetic reactions. The contents of this article are organized by the starting materials, which can be broadly classified into four different types: substrates bearing π-systems, substrates bearing carbonyl and other polar groups, and substrates bearing heterocyclic motifs. Brief discussions on plausible reaction mechanisms for most transformations are also presented.

Abstract
A full atom-economical domino method has been developed for the preparation of alkyl 5-amino-4-cyano-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates by transannulation of 5-alkoxyisoxazoles with malononitrile under Fe(ii) catalysis. Alkyl 5-amino-4-cyano-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates are excellent building blocks for various annulation reactions, leading to new derivatives of 1H-pyrrolo[1,2-a]imidazole and pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine. The DFT calculations of mechanistic details of alkyl 5-amino-4-cyano-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylate formation are presented.

Abstract
The reaction conditions for the Buchner reaction of 2-(diazoacetyl)-2H-azirines with benzene leading to 2-(cyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-yl)-2H-azirines have been found. The azirine fragment of these compounds was subsequently used to prepare 5-(cyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-yl)isoxazoles and α-(cyclohepta-2,4,6-triene-1-ylcarbonyl)-1H-pyrroles. NMR and DFT calculations showed that the cycloheptatriene-norcaradiene valence isomerization in the corresponding moieties of synthesized azirines, isoxazoles, and pyrroles is very fast at room temperature. Cycloheptatriene valence isomer predominates in azirines and pyrroles, while 5-(cycloheptatrienyl)isoxazoles exist in a pure cycloheptatriene form at 25 °C in chloroform solution. In accordance with the X-ray analysis, two of the synthesized pyrroles crystallized as norcaradiene isomers from a solution of equilibrium mixture of valence isomers. Reductive isoxazole ring opening using the Mo(CO)6/H2O reductive system afforded (Z)-3-amino-3-aryl-1-(cyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-yl)prop-2-en-1-ones, which are pure cycloheptatriene isomers. α-(Cycloheptatrieneylcarbonyl)-1H-pyrroles were transformed into the α-(benzylcarbonyl)-1H-pyrroles under cooperative TFA/Rh2(TFA)4 catalysis.

Abstract
Reactions of arylidene-isoxazol-5-ones with intermediates from palladium-catalysed decarboxylation of allyl carbamates proceeded through aza-Michael addition and N-allylation to give the corresponding bis-adducts, β-amido-N-allylated products, in good yields. In similar reactions with 4-vinyl-1,4-dihydro-2H-3,1-benzoxazin-2-one, a cyclic allyl carbamate, C-allylation took place to yield a series of spiro[isoxazole-4,3'-quinolin]-5-ones in high yields. Regio-selective N- versus C-allylation is illustrated to occur in an inter- versus intra-molecular fashion. The structure and stereochemistry of these products are determined by NMR spectroscopy and further confirmed by X-ray crystallography. This work offers an excellent method for the preparation of various substituted isoxazol-5-ones.

Abstract
The first synthesis of isoxazole-4-carboxylic acid derivatives by domino isoxazole-isoxazole isomerization is reported. Fe(II)-catalyzed isomerization of 4-acyl-5-methoxy-/5-aminoisoxazoles (dioxane, 105 °C) leads to the formation of isoxazole-4-carboxylic esters and amides in good yields. 4-Formyl-5-methoxyisoxazoles give methyl oxazole-4-carboxylates under the same reaction conditions. Fe(II)-catalyzed isomerization of 4-acyl-5-methoxyisoxazoles under milder conditions (MeCN, 50 °C) allows the preparation of transient 2-acyl-2-(methoxycarbonyl)-2H-azirines. The azirines isomerize quantitatively either into isoxazoles under catalytic conditions (dioxane, 105 °C) or into oxazoles under noncatalytic thermolysis (o-dichlorobenzene, 170 °C). The mechanism of the isomerization and dependence of the reaction routes on substituents at starting isoxazole core and reaction conditions are discussed on the basis of DFT calculations.
