Abstract
A direct and practical method for photocatalyzed hydrodecarboxylation of fatty acids is reported herein. The catalytic system consists of a commercially available acridinium salt as the photocatalyst and thiophenol as the Hydrogen Atom Transfer (HAT) co-catalyst. Results evidenced that Cn-1 alkanes were obtained in yields up to 77%. Furthermore, the protocol was employed for a complex mixture of fatty acids bio-derived from a real sample of licuri oil to obtain hydrocarbons in the range of C9-C17 with high selectivity and excellent conversion (>90%). This work provides a powerful strategy for producing drop-in biofuels under mild conditions. Finally, an energetic assessment of our proposed protocol (∼22.9 kW h) reveals the benefit of a sustainable production of renewable hydrocarbons.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed reductive formylation of aryl iodides with carbon dioxide as the carbonyl source under mild reaction conditions was realized by using a combination of Pd(PCy3)2Cl2 and di-2-pyridyl ketone as the catalyst and phenylsilane as the reductive reagent, leading to a variety of aromatic aldehydes in moderate to excellent yields. The protocol features wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and simple operation.

Abstract
![]()
A mild
and inexpensive method for direct hydrodecarboxylation of
aliphatic carboxylic acids has been developed. The reaction does not
require metals, light, or catalysts, rendering the protocol operationally
simple, easy to scale, and more sustainable. Crucially, no additional
H atom source is required in most cases, while a broad substrate scope
and functional group tolerance are observed.

Abstract
The Vilsmeier reagent (VR), first reported a century ago, is a versatile reagent in a variety of organic reactions. It is used extensively in formylation reactions. However, the synthesis of VR generally requires highly toxic and corrosive reagents such as POCl3, SOCl2, or COCl2. In this study, we found that VR is readily obtained from a CHCl3 solution containing N,N-dimethylformamide or N,N-dimethylacetamide upon photo-irradiation under O2 bubbling. The corresponding Vilsmeier reagents were obtained in high yields with the generation of gaseous HCl and CO2 as byproducts to allow their isolations as crystalline solid products amenable to analysis by X-ray crystallography. With the advantage of using CHCl3, which bifunctionally serves as a reactant and a solvent, this photo-on-demand VR synthesis is available for one-pot syntheses of aldehydes, acid chlorides, formates, ketones, esters, and amides.

Abstract
The combination of black TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) with a nickel catalyst provides a low-cost, sustainable, and reusable alternative dual catalytic system to a homogeneous counterpart (noble metals). This black TiO2-photoredox/nickel dual catalytic system has efficiently driven C-P bond formation between aryl iodides and diarylphosphine oxides under visible light, providing good to excellent yields as well as tolerating a variety of functional groups. The practical application of this semi-heterogeneous protocol has been highlighted by a sunlight experiment, a gram-scale reaction, and a reusability test.

Abstract
Deoxygenative chlorination of carbonyl compounds using the HMe2SiCl/FeCl3/EtOAc and HMeSiCl2/FeCl3/EtOAc systems has been systemically investigated. The HMe2SiCl-FeCl3 system showed the advantages of good substrate applicability, mild reaction conditions, simple operation, low cost, and easy availability of raw materials. Also, it provided a simple and efficient synthesis route for carbonyl deoxychlorination via a one-pot method. Using the HMeSiCl2/FeCl3/EtOAc system, the β-methylchalcone derivative could be obtained in good yields in addition to obtaining the chlorinated compound. Finally, two plausible reaction routes were proposed to describe the formation of the chlorinated compound and the β-methylchalcone derivative.
