Abstract
In this paper, we have reviewed several equations for calculating the cooperative energy of two chemical bonds between three fragments/species, regardless of whether they are atoms, ions or molecules, and whether the bonds between them are intra- or intermolecular. It is emphasized that two chemical bonds upon cooperation in a new compound change the bond dissociation energy of each other exactly by the same quantitative value, their cooperative energy, regardless of the nature of the bonds or whether one bond is very weak and another one is very strong. However, the final benefit/drawback of weak bonds from this cooperation can be considerably larger than that of strong bonds. The above statements are supported by a computational study on the various types of inter- and intramolecular chemical bonds.

Abstract
The interaction between pyridines and the π-hole of BeH2 leads to the formation of strong beryllium-bonded complexes. Theoretical investigations demonstrate that the Be-N bonding interaction can effectively regulate the electronic current through a molecular junction. The electronic conductance exhibits distinct switching behavior depending on the substituent groups at the para position of pyridine, highlighting the role of Be-N interaction as a potent chemical gate in the proposed device. The complexes exhibit short intermolecular distances ranging from 1.724 to 1.752 Å, emphasizing their strong binding. Detailed analysis of electronic rearrangements and geometric perturbations upon complex formation provides insights into the underlying reasons for the formation of such strong Be-N bonds, with bond strengths varying from -116.25 to -92.96 kJ/mol. Moreover, the influence of chemical substituents on the local electronic transmission of the beryllium-bonded complex offers valuable insights for the implementation of a secondary chemical gate in single-molecule devices. This study paves the way for the development of chemically gateable, functional single-molecule transistors, advancing the design and fabrication of multifunctional single-molecule devices in the nanoscale regime.

Abstract
The basicity of the simplest silicone, disiloxane (H 3 Si-O-SiH 3 ), is strongly affected by the Si-O-Si angle (α). We use high-level ab initio MP2/aug'-cc-pVTZ calculations and the molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) to analyze the relationship between the increase in basicity and the reduction of α. Our results clearly point out that this increase can be explained through the MEP, as the interactions between oxygen from disiloxane and the acceptors are mostly electrostatic. Furthermore, the effect of α on the tetrel bond between disiloxane and several Lewis bases can again be rationalized using the MEP. Finally, we explore the cooperativity throughout α for ternary complexes where disiloxane simultaneously interacts with a Lewis acid and a Lewis base. Both non-covalent interactions remain cooperative for all α values, although the largest cooperativity effects are not always those maximizing the binding energy in the binary complexes. Overall, the MEP remains a powerful predictor for noncovalent interactions.

Malonaldehyde-like Systems: BeF2 Clusters—A Subtle Balance between Hydrogen Bonds, Beryllium Bonds, and Resonance. SCI 2022. Abstract
The stability of malonaldehyde is governed by intramolecular hydrogen bonds (IMHBs) as well as in malonaldehyde-like systems where oxygen is replaced by N or S at any of the basic sites. As beryllium bonds have been shown to strongly cooperate with hydrogen bonds, this work explores at the high level ab initio G4 level of theory the effect of including this non-covalent interaction in the system through its association with BeF2. Although malonaldehyde follows the expected trends, where the formation of a pseudocyclic form is favored also when IMHB and Be bonds are present, the subtle balance between both non-covalent interactions leads to some surprising results when other heteroatoms are involved, to the point that interaction energies can be much larger than expected or even cyclization is not favored. A complete analysis using different computational tools gives an answer to those cases escaping the predictable trends.

Abstract
The list of σ-hole bonds is long and growing, encompassing both H-bonds and its closely related halogen, chalcogen, etc., sisters. These bonds rely on the asymmetric distribution of electron density, whose depletion along the extension of a covalent bond leaves a positive region of electrostatic potential from which these bonds derive their name. However, the density distributions of other molecules contain analogous positive regions that lie out of the molecular plane known as π-holes, which are likewise capable of engaging in noncovalent bonds. Quantum calculations are applied to study such π-hole bonds that involve linear molecules, whose positive region is a circular belt surrounding the molecule, rather than the more restricted area of a σ-hole. These bonds are examined in terms of their most fundamental elements arising from the spatial dispositions of their relevant molecular orbitals and the π-holes in both the total electron density and the electrostatic potential to which they lead. Systems examined comprise tetrel, chalcogen, aerogen, and triel bonds, as well as those involving group II elements, with atoms drawn from various rows of the Periodic Table. The π-hole bonds established by linear molecules tend to be weaker than those of comparable planar systems.

Abstract
It is well known that the presence of an electron-withdrawing substituent (EWS) placed near the halogen (X) atom on a Lewis acid molecule amplifies the ability of this unit to engage in a halogen bond with a base. Quantum calculations are applied to examine how quickly these effects fade as the EWS is moved further and further from the X atom. Conjugated alkene and alkyne chains of varying lengths with a terminal C-I first facilitate analysis as to how the number of these multiple bonds affects the strength of CI··N XB to NH3. Then, electron-withdrawing F and C≡N substituents are placed on the opposite end of the chain, and their effects on the XB properties are monitored as a function of their distance from I. These same EWSs are added to the ortho, meta, and para positions of aromatic iodobenzene. It is found that the XB grows in strength as more triple bonds are added to the alkyne, but there is little change caused by elongating an alkene. The cyano group has a much stronger effect than does F. While F strengthens the XB, its effects are quickly attenuated as it is moved further from I. The consequences of C≡N substitution are stronger and extend over a longer distance. Placement of an EWS on the phenyl ring diminishes with distance: o > m > p, and the effects of disubstitution are nearly additive. These trends apply not only to energetics but also to geometries, properties of the wave function, σ-hole depth, and NMR shielding.

Abstract
Ab initio calculations are applied to the question as to whether a AeX5- anion (Ae = Kr, Xe) can engage in a stable complex with another anion: F-, Cl-, or CN-. The latter approaches the central Ae atom from above the molecular plane, along its C5 axis. While the electrostatic repulsion between the two anions prevents their association in the gas phase, immersion of the system in a polar medium allows dimerization to proceed. The aerogen bond is a weak one, with binding energies less than 2 kcal/mol, even in highly polar aqueous solvent. The complexes are metastable in the less polar solvents THF and DMF, with dissociation opposed by a small energy barrier.

Abstract
Triel-bonding interactions composed of Lewis acid TrOHH2/TrOH2X/TrOHX2 (Tr = B, Al, Ga; X = F, Cl, Br) molecule and Lewis base neutral HCN or anionic CN- molecule are of research significance in bond properties, which has been investigated at MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ theory level. It is also feasible to study the halogen atom substituent effect and influence of different Lewis bases on the formation of triel bond. AIM analyses reveal that Tr (Tr = B, Al, Ga)···N bond critical point (BCP) exists in all studied triel bond. In the formation of triel bonding, compared with Lewis base HCN molecule, Lewis base anionic CN- can participate in a stronger triel bond. Specifically, the structural change, deformation energy, and charge transfer of CN- complexes are all larger than that of HCN complexes. In addition, halogen atom substitution effect is also discussed. MEP value and binding energy of HCN and CN- complexes all increase after replacing one or two hydrogen atoms by halogen atoms (F, Cl, Br) in Lewis acid. Especially, replacing two hydrogen atoms by halogen atoms in Lewis acid has more remarkable enhancement in MEP value and binding energy than that of replacing only one hydrogen atom. After replacement, binding energy can be increased by 21.77 kcal/mol. The neutral and anionic triel-bonded complexes composed by Lewis acid TrOHH2/TrOH2X/TrOHX2 (Tr = B, Al, Ga; X = F, Cl, Br) with Lewis base HCN and CN- are systematically investigated at MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ level. The neutral (HCN) triel bonding is weaker than the anionic (CN-) triel bonding due to the smaller MEP value of the neutral HCN molecule. The replacement of hydrogens (-H) in Lewis acid by electron-withdrawing groups (-F, -Cl, -Br) has a prominent enhancement effect on the MEP value of π-hole and triel-bonding strength.

Abstract
The structures reported in the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) for neutral metallacycles formed by coinage metals in their valence (I) (cations) and pyrazolate anions were examined. Depending on the metal, dimers and trimers are the most common but some larger rings have also been reported, although some of the larger structures are not devoid of ambiguity. M06-2x calculations were carried out on simplified structures (without C-substituents on the pyrazolate rings) in order to facilitate a comparison with the reported X-ray structures (geometries and energies). The problems of stability of the different ring sizes were also analyzed.
