Abstract
This paper investigates the petal effect (hydrophobicity and strong adhesion) observed on single-crystal bimodal porous GaN (porous GaN), which has almost the same electrical properties as bulk GaN. The water contact angles of porous GaN were 100°-135° despite the intrinsic hydrophilic nature of GaN. Moreover, it was demonstrated that the petal effect of porous GaN leads to the uniform attachment of water solutions, enabling highly uniform and aggregation-free attachment of chemicals and quantum dots. These results indicate that porous GaN can be applied in quantum dot light-emitting diodes and as an analytical substrate.

Abstract
Abstract
Using a bioinspired approach, we prepare poly(3,4-ethylenedioxypyrrole) (PEDOP) films with parahydrophobic properties, characterized by high apparent water contact angle and strong water adhesion. The films are made by electropolymerization and the influence of substitution by an alkyl chain of various length (from C4H9 to C14H29) on the 3,4-ethylenedioxy-bridge is reported. More precisely, the best properties are obtained from a length of C12H25 due to the formation of spherical nanoparticles.

Abstract
The facile functionalization of the fluorene scaffold at the 2,7-positions was utilized to provide access to two soluble carbazole-π-carbazole derivatives CFC-H1 and CFC-F1 featuring fully hydrogenated and polyfluorinated alkyl chains at the 9-position of the fluorene π-bridging unit, respectively. The optical and electrochemical properties of the new dicarbazoles were investigated. Their electrochemical polymerization over Pt and indium tin oxide electrodes allowed the generation of electroactive polymeric films, whose physicochemical characteristics were strongly dependent on the kind of alkyl chain present on the fluorene bridge. In particular, the electropolymerization of the polyfluorinated monomer allowed the fabrication of thin films with good electrical conductivity, reversible electrochemical processes, good electrochromic properties, and enhanced water repellency with respect to its nonfluorinated analogue.

Abstract
AbstractVegetal and animal reigns offer many examples of surfaces with surprising and interesting wetting properties. As example, springtails present superoleophobic properties allowing to live in soil and Lotus leaves show self-cleaning ability even under rainfalls. Indeed, it is known that self-cleaning properties can help to remove dust and particles during rainfalls and as a consequence to clean the surface. The bioinspiration of these surface properties is of a real interest for industrial applications in the nanotechnology field such as photovoltaic systems or anti corrosive material. Here, we use a strategy based on electropolymerization to obtain these properties. The Staudinger-Vilarrasa reaction is used to prepare innovative 3,4-ethylenedioxypyrrole (EDOP) monomers with fluorinated chains. Using C6F13 or C8F17 chains, the polymer surfaces formed after electrodeposition show superhydrophobic and superoleophobic features. Here we study the surface wettability depending on the surface energy (based on the perfluorinated chain length), the surface roughness and morphology.

Abstract
This work reported the dynamic effects of water droplet impact on flat, porous and pincushion structure films of star shaped polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) fluorinated acrylates, POSS-poly(trifluoroethyl methacrylate)8 (POSS-(PTFEMA)8) and POSS-(poly(trifluoroethyl methacrylate)-b-poly(methyl methacrylate))8 (POSS-(PTFEMA-b-PMMA)8), using the breath figure method. The porous and pincushion structure films with different surface chemical compositions were obtained by controlling the copolymer structure and temperature and by stripping of the surface. The water contact angles on the different films were measured, and the water droplets on the pincushion structure films when reversed at 45°, 90°, 135° and 180° were also studied. It was found that the pincushion structure films revealed a water adhesion ability. Furthermore, the water droplet impact behavior on these films was investigated. The morphology variations of water droplets, spreading diameter of the droplets, energy conversion, restitution coefficient and adhesion force were examined. Finally, the schematic illustration of water droplets under the static and dynamic states in contact with the pincushion and porous structure surfaces was proposed. It is critical to materialize various applications such as microdroplet transportation, soil erosion, spray painting, anti-icing surface and antifouling agents for textiles.
