Abstract
We developed a Cr-catalyzed strategy for the regioselective formation of Csp2-Csp3 bonds through the direct and efficient ortho-aminomethylation of N,N-dimethylanilines with phenols. The approach showed excellent site selectivity at the ortho-position of phenols and accommodated broad substrate scope and functional group compatibility for both N,N-dimethylanilines and phenols. Mechanistic studies revealed that the direct ortho-aminomethylation between N,N-dimethylanilines and phenols occurred via an ionic mechanism.

Abstract
The hexahydride complex OsH6(PiPr3)2 promotes the C-H bond activation of the 1,3-disubstituted phenyl group of the [BF4]- and [BPh4]- salts of the cations 1-(3-(isoquinolin-1-yl)phenyl)-3-methylimidazolium and 1-(3-(isoquinolin-1-yl)phenyl)-3-methylbenzimidazolium. The reactions selectively afford neutral and cationic trihydride-osmium(IV) derivatives bearing κ2-C,N- or κ2-C,C-chelating ligands, a cationic dihydride-osmium(IV) complex stabilized by a κ3-C,C,N-pincer group, and a bimetallic hexahydride formed by two trihydride-osmium(IV) fragments. The metal centers of the hexahydride are separated by a bridging ligand, composed of κ2-C,N- and κ2-C,C-chelating moieties, which allows electronic communication between the metal centers. The wide variety of obtained compounds and the high selectivity observed in their formation is a consequence of the main role of the azolium group during the activation and of the existence of significant differences in behavior between the azolium groups. The azolium role is governed by the anion of the salt, whereas the azolium behavior depends upon its imidazolium or benzimidazolium nature. While [BF4]- inhibits the azolium reactions, [BPh4]- favors the azolium participation in the activation process. In contrast to benzimidazolylidene, the imidazolylidene resulting from the deprotonation of the imidazolium substituent coordinates in an abnormal fashion to direct the phenyl C-H bond activation to the 2-position. The hydride ligands of the cationic dihydride-osmium(IV) pincer complex display intense quantum mechanical exchange coupling. Furthermore, this salt is a red phosphorescent emitter upon photoexcitation and displays a noticeable catalytic activity for the dehydrogenation of 1-phenylethanol to acetophenone and of 1,2-phenylenedimethanol to 1-isobenzofuranone. The bimetallic hexahydride shows catalytic synergism between the metals, in the dehydrogenation of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline and alcohols.

Abstract
Pincer complexes play an important role in organometallic chemistry; in particular, their use as homogeneous catalysts for organic transformations has increased dramatically in recent years. The high catalytic activity of such bis-cyclometallic complexes is associated with the easy tunability of their properties. Moreover, the phosphorus-based unsymmetrical pincers showed higher catalytic activity than the corresponding symmetrical analogues in several catalytic reactions. However, in modern literature, an increasing interest in the development of catalysts based on non-precious metals is observed. For example, nickel, which is an affordable and sustainable analogue of platinum and palladium, known for its low toxicity, has attracted increasing attention in the catalytic chemistry of transition metals in recent years. Thus, this mini-review is devoted to the recent advances in the chemistry of unsymmetrical phosphorus-based pincer nickel complexes, including the ligand design, the synthesis of nickel complexes and their catalytic applications.

Abstract
Rollover cyclometalation constitutes a particular case of cyclometallation reaction. This reaction occurs when a chelated heterocyclic ligand loses its bidentate coordination mode and undergoes an internal rotation, after which a remote C-H bond is regioselectively activated, affording an uncommon cyclometalated complex, called "rollover cyclometalated complex". The key of the process is the internal rotation of the ligand, which occurs before the C-H bond activation and releases from coordination a donor atom. The new "rollover" ligand has peculiar properties, being a ligand with multiple personalities, no more a spectator in the reactivity of the complex. The main reason of this peculiarity is the presence of an uncoordinated donor atom (the one initially involved in the chelation), able to promote a series of reactions not available for classic cyclometalated complexes. The rollover reaction is highly regioselective, because the activated C-H bond is usually in a symmetric position with respect to the donor atom which detaches from the metal stating the rollover process. Due to this novel behavior, a series of potential applications have appeared in the literature, in fields such as catalysis, organic synthesis, and advanced materials.

Abstract
The hydrogenolysis of mono- and dinuclear PdII hydroxides was investigated both experimentally and computationally. It was found that the dinuclear μ-hydroxide complexes {[(PCNR )Pd]2 (μ-OH)}(OTf) (PCNH =1-[3-[(di-tert-butylphosphino)methyl]phenyl]-1H-pyrazole; PCNMe =1-[3-[(di-tert-butylphosphino)methyl]phenyl]-5-methyl-1H-pyrazole) react with H2 to form the analogous dinuclear hydride species {[(PCNR )Pd]2 (μ-H)}(OTf). The dinuclear μ-hydride complexes were fully characterized, and are rare examples of structurally characterized unsupported singly bridged μ-H PdII dimers. The {[(PCNMe )Pd]2 (μ-OH)}(OTf) hydrogenolysis mechanism was investigated through experiments and computations. The hydrogenolysis of the mononuclear complex (PCNH )Pd-OH resulted in a mixed ligand dinuclear species [(PCNH )Pd](μ-H)[(PCC)Pd] (PCC=a dianionic version of PCNH bound through phosphorus P, aryl C, and pyrazole C atoms) generated from initial ligand "rollover" C-H activation. Further exposure to H2 yields the bisphosphine Pd0 complex Pd[(H)PCNH ]2 . When the ligand was protected at the pyrazole 5-position in the (PCNMe )Pd-OH complex, no hydride formed under the same conditions; the reaction proceeded directly to the bisphosphine Pd0 complex Pd[(H)PCNMe ]2 . Reaction mechanisms for the hydrogenolysis of the monomeric and dimeric hydroxides are proposed.

Abstract
Irradiation of a disphenoidal Ni(II) azido complex, [Cz tBu(Pyr iPr)2NiN3] (1), revealed an unprecedented nickel complex, [Cz tBu(Pyr iPr)(NH2-Pyr iPr)] (2), in >90% isolated yield. As evidenced by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, 2 is produced by double intramolecular C-H activation of a putative nickel-nitridyl intermediate, [Cz tBu(Pyr iPr)2Ni-⃛N•]. Calculations support the generation of an intermediate with significant nitridyl radical character after the loss of N2, which, in turn, undergoes tandem C-H activations, leading to functionalized intermediates and products. This is an unprecedented example of transient Ni-⃛N•-promoted intramolecular C-H functionalization, followed by a [2σ + 2π] addition, yielding bis-metallacyclic product 2. Complex 2 is also observed from the reaction of Ni(I) precursor Cz tBu(Pyr iPr)2Ni (3) and Me3SiN3, suggesting a unique thermal route toward a masked nickel-nitridyl intermediate.

Abstract
A microwave-assisted method has been developed for the synthesis of tri-substituted pyrazoles via direct N-heterocyclization of hydrazines with metal-acetylacetonate and -dibenzylideneacetonate without using any base or additives. Most importantly, the synthesis of 1-aryl-5-phenyl-3-styryl-1H-pyrazoles was achieved in a single step using hydrochloride salt of various phenylhydrazines and this is the first report for direct construction of these molecules. The reaction medium and microwave conditions play a critical role for their selective product formation during the reaction. The present reaction explored the usage of metal-diketonic complexes as reaction substrates providing acetylacetone and dibenzylideneacetone moieties to directly participate in cyclization with hydrazines to form the corresponding pyrazoles in excellent yields. The present protocol introduces the important N-heterocyclic moieties in the final structures, giving the reaction great applications from a medicinal chemistry perspective, particularly in the late stage modification strategies in drug discovery. The synthesis of tri-substituted pyrazoles was achieved via direct N-heterocyclization of hydrazines with metal-acetylacetonate and -dibenzylideneacetonate without using any base or additives under microwave irradiation in a single step.![]()

Abstract
Reported herein is the first example of the Rh(NHC)-catalyzed selective bis C-H alkylation of NNN tridentate chelating compounds in reaction with alkenes. The observed excellent site-selectivity can readily be explained by the postulated rollover pathway in the C-H bond activation step. The reaction is highly facile affording bis-alkylated tridentate products in high yields over a broad range of versatile heteroarene substrates and alkene reactants including ethylene gas, thus enabling its applications to be feasible in coordination and synthetic chemistry.
