Abstract
![]()
Propargylic alcohols
and amines are versatile building blocks in
organic synthesis. We demonstrate a straightforward enzymatic cascade
to synthesize enantiomerically pure propargylic alcohols and amines
from readily available racemic starting materials. In the first step,
the peroxygenase from Agrocybe aegerita converted
the racemic propargylic alcohols into the corresponding ketones, which
then were converted into the enantiomerically pure alcohols using
the (R)-selective alcohol dehydrogenase from Lactobacillus kefir or the (S)-selective
alcohol dehydrogenase from Thermoanaerobacter brokii. Moreover, an enzymatic Mitsunobu-type conversion of the racemic
alcohols into enantiomerically enriched propargylic amines using (R)-selective amine transaminase from Aspergillus
terreus or (S)-selective amine transaminase
from Chromobacterium violaceum was established. The
one-pot two-step cascade reaction yielded a broad range of enantioenriched
alcohol and amine products in 70–99% yield.

Abstract
The stereoisomerically pure synthesis of a novel heptanuclear Ru(II)-Os(II) antenna bearing multitopic terpyridine ligands is reported. An unambiguous structural characterization was obtained by 1H NMR spectroscopy and ion mobility spectrometry (IMS-MS). The heptanuclear complex exhibits large molar absorption coefficients (77900 M-1 cm-1 at 497 nm) and undergoes unitary, downhill, convergent energy transfer from the peripheral Ru(II) subunits to the central Os(II) that displays photoluminescence with a lifetime (τ = 161 ns) competent for diffusional excited-state electron transfer reactivity in solution.

Abstract
Supported by mass spectrometry experiments, DFT computations indicate that the lithium amide of a 3-aminopyrrolidine (lithium benzhydryl(1-benzylpyrrolidin-3-yl)amide, 1-Li) is protected, up to a certain limit, against hydrolysis when it is aggregated with a strongly polar partner such as LiCl, LiBr, or MeLi.

Abstract
Enantioselective addition of terminal alkynes to α,α-dichlorinated aldehydes employing Zn(OTf)2/NME is disclosed. The propargylic alcohols obtained are accessed in good yields and high enantioselectivity from easily accessible α,α-dichloroaldehydes. The method opens new strategic opportunities for the synthesis of chlorinated natural products, such as the chlorosulfolipids.

Abstract
An overview on the structural arrangements adopted by Chiral Lithium Amides (CLAs), alone or in mixed complexes, is presented. These species are important reagents for asymmetric synthesis and understanding their organization is essential to improve their design and the reaction conditions.

Abstract
Mechanistic studies and expansion of the substrate scope of direct enantioselective alkynylation of α-ketiminoesters catalyzed by adaptable (phebox)rhodium(III) complexes are described. The mechanistic studies revealed that less acidic alkyne rather than more acidic acetic acid acted as a proton source in the catalytic cycle, and the generation of more active (acetato-κ(2)O,O')(alkynyl)(phebox)rhodium(III) complexes from the starting (diacetato)rhodium(III) complexes limited the overall reactivity of the reaction. These findings, as well as facile exchange of the alkynyl ligand on the (alkynyl)rhodium(III) complexes led us to use (acetato-κ(2)O,O')(trimethylsilylethynyl)(phebox)rhodium(III) complexes as a general precatalyst for various (alkynyl)rhodium(III) complexes. Use of the (trimethylsilylethynyl)rhodium(III) complexes as precatalysts enhanced the catalytic performance of the reactions with an α-ketiminoester derived from ethyl trifluoropyruvate at a catalyst loading as low as 0.5 mol % and expanded the substrate scope to unprecedented α-ketiminophosphonate and cyclic N-sulfonyl α-ketiminoesters.
