Abstract
Herein, we report Rh(III) catalyzed aldehydic or aryl C-H alkylation via C-C bond activation of cyclopropanols, facilitating the synthesis of β-functionalized ketones. The protocol employs cyclopropanol as the alkylating agent with 2-aminobenzaldehyde or aniline derivatives to access a variety of unsymmetrical 1,4-diketones or β-aryl ketones, respectively. The practicality of these transformations is showcased through the modification of natural products, gram-scale synthesis, broad substrate scope and postfunctionalizations.

Abstract
The regio-/stereoselective synthesis of vinyl cyclobutanols from alkynyl cyclobutanols is demonstrated. Here, selective C-C bond activation of the cyclopropyl alcohol ring has been achieved in the presence of the cyclobutanol ring. The KIE experiments indicated the noninvolvement of the O-H oxidative addition step in the rate-determining step. Further, the applicability of these vinyl cyclobutanols for the synthesis of 1,4-diketones and 1,6-diketone is demonstrated.

Abstract
An unprecedented N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-catalyzed radical acylation of cycloalkyl silyl peroxides was developed using readily available aldehydes as the acylating agents. This protocol provides an exceptionally useful method for the efficient and rapid synthesis of long-chain 1,6-/1,7-/1,8-diketones, especially unsymmetrical ones. This strategy also has the advantages of mild conditions, good functional group compatibility, and potential applications in the late-stage functionalization of aldehydes with bioactive fragments and in the construction of long-chain complex bioactive molecules.

Abstract
As important substrates for the construction of heterocycles, a simple and efficient approach for synthesis of 1,4-diones is highly desirable. In this work, novel and efficient electrochemical radical reactions of enol acetates and 1,3-diketones have been developed to successfully achieve 1,4-diketones under catalyst-free and oxidant-free conditions. The wide range of substrates, good group tolerance, and simple operation process make the approach have important practical value. Moreover, the obtained 1,4-diketones can be easily further transformed to pyrrole and furan derivatives.

Abstract
Against the backdrop of the well-known O-sulfonylation of cyclopropyl alcohols with sulfonyl chlorides, we examined the feasibility of conducting regioselective C-sulfonylation. By emulating an umpolung strategy-guided design, we report for the first time the Cu(II)-catalyzed β-sulfonylation of cyclopropanols by a mechanism that potentially involves an oxidative addition of a sulfonyl radical to a metal homoenolate. Unlike reported methods, this protocol allows a practical synthetic route to γ-keto sulfone building blocks from cyclopropanols by leveraging commercially available aryl- and alkyl-sulfonyl chlorides, common reagents in organic chemistry laboratories. Using operationally simple open-flask conditions, the preparative scope of starting materials was demonstrated using an array of aryl- and alkyl-substituted sulfonyl chlorides and cyclopropanols (43 examples, up to 96% yield).

Abstract
The scope of chemoselective β-hydride elimination in the context of arylation/alkenylation of homoenolates from cyclopropanol precursors using organoboronic reagents as transmetalation coupling partners was examined. The reaction optimization paradigm revealed a simple ligand-free Pd(II) catalytic system to be most efficient under open air conditions. The preparative scope, which was investigated with 48 examples, supported the applicability of this reaction to a wide range of substrates tolerating a variety of functional groups while delivering β-substituted enone and dienone derivatives in 62-95% yields.

Abstract
Metal catalyzed C-H functionalization offers a versatile platform for methodology development and a wide variety of reactions now exist for the chemo- and site-selective functionalization of organic molecules. Cyclopentadienyl-metal (CpM) complexes of transition metals and their correlative analogues have found widespread application in this area, and herein we highlight several key applications of commonly used transition-metal Cp-type catalysts. In addition, an understanding of transition metal Cp-type catalyst synthesis is important, particularly where modifications to the catalyst structure are required for different applications, and a summary of this aspect is given.

Abstract
The stereoselective synthesis of 1,3-enynes from 1,3-diynes is demonstrated by palladium-catalyzed selective C–C bond cleavage of cyclopropanol. Exclusive formation of mono-alkenylated adducts was achieved by eliminating the possibility of di-functionalization with high stereoselectivity. Indeed, this protocol worked very well with electronically and sterically diverse substrates. Several studies, including deuterium labeling experiments and intermolecular competitive experiments, were carried out to understand the mechanistic details. The atomic-level mechanism followed in the catalytic process was also validated using DFT calculations, and the rate-controlling states in the catalytic cycle were identified. Furthermore, preliminary mechanistic investigations with radical scavengers revealed the non-involvement of the radical pathway in this transformation. Palladium-catalyzed tandem activation and functionalization of readily accessible cyclopropanols have been demonstrated to access valuable conjugated enynes from 1,3-diynes with high stereo-selectivity.![]()

Abstract
The ring opening of cyclopropanols is rarely used in multicomponent reactions. Herein we report the three-component reaction of cyclopropanols with alkenes and tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) catalyzed by an iron catalyst. This protocol enables the incorporation of both the β-carbonyl fragment and a peroxy unit across the C═C double bond regioselectively, thus allowing an efficient, facile access to 5-oxo peroxides. Modification of the biologically active molecules and various downstream derivatizations of the peroxides are also demonstrated.

Abstract
Previous transition metal-catalyzed synthesis processes of δ-diketones are plagued by the high cost of the rhodium catalyst and harsh reaction conditions. Herein a low-cost, room temperature ruthenium catalytic method is developed based on the coupling of α-keto sulfoxonium ylides with cyclopropanols. The mild protocol features a broad substrate scope (47 examples) and a high product yield (up to 99%). Mechanistic studies argue against a radical pathway and support a cyclopropanol ring opening, sulfoxonium ylide-derived carbenoid formation, migratory insertion C-C bond formation pathway.

Abstract
The ruthenium(II)-catalyzed regioselective annulation of N-(7-azaindole)amides with 1,3-diynes has been demonstrated. Bioactive N-amino-7-azaindole has been used as a new bidentate directing group to furnish an array of 3-alkynylated isoquinolones. Furthermore, the developed protocol works efficiently for both aryl- and heteroaryl-substituted amides producing a range of pharmacologically useful 7-azaindole-based isoquinolones with a wide range of functionality.

Abstract
Merging both C-H and C-C activation in a tandem process is a marked challenge. A novel Rh(iii)-catalyzed C-H activation/ring opening C-C cleavage/cyclization of carboxylic acids with cyclopropanols was developed for the synthesis of 3-substituted phthalides and α,β-butenolides. This reaction displays excellent functional group tolerance with respect to both carboxylic acids and cyclopropanols and features relatively mild conditions. Remarkably, the utility of this method was highlighted by the rapid construction of bioactive compounds bearing a 3-substituted phthalide framework via late-stage functionalization.

Abstract
Strain-driven palladium/N-heterocyclic carbene-catalyzed C-C bond activation of diphenylcyclopropenone (DPC) has been explored for one-step access to trisubstituted α,β-unsaturated esters and amides. The designed transformation works under mild conditions providing exclusively a single stereoisomer. Mechanistic studies support the oxidative addition of the C-C bond of cyclopropenone to in-situ-generated Pd(0) intermediate. We have proved that vinylic hydrogen in the product is coming from phenol/aniline through deuterium-labeling studies. Late-stage functionalization of bioactive molecules such as procaine, estrone, and hymecromone demonstrates the robustness of this protocol.

Abstract
Herein, we first present a nickel-catalyzed arylation and alkenylation of tert-cyclobutanols with aryl/alkenyl triflates via a C-C bond cleavage. An array of γ-substituted ketones was obtained in moderate-to-good yields, thus featuring earth-abundant nickel catalysis, broad substrate scope, and simple reaction conditions. Preliminary mechanistic experiments indicated that β-carbon elimination pathways might be involved in the catalytic cycle.
