Abstract
A protocol for the electrooxidative [3+2] annulation to generate indolo[2,3-b]indoles in an undivided cell is reported. It exhibits good yields with excellent regioselectivities and tolerates various functional groups without external chemical oxidants. Cyclic voltammetry and density functional theory calculations indicate that the [3+2] annulation is initiated by the simultaneous anodic oxidation of indole and aniline derivatives, and the step to determine the rate relies on the combination of radical cations.

Abstract
The use of iron as a core metal in catalysis has become a research topic of interest over the last few decades. The reasons are clear. Iron is the most abundant transition metal on Earth's crust and it is widely distributed across the world. It has been extracted and processed since the dawn of civilization. All these features render iron a noncontaminant, biocompatible, nontoxic, and inexpensive metal and therefore it constitutes the perfect candidate to replace noble metals (rhodium, palladium, platinum, iridium, etc.). Moreover, direct C-H functionalization is one of the most efficient strategies by which to introduce new functional groups into small organic molecules. The majority of organic compounds contain C(sp3 )-H bonds. Given the enormous importance of organic molecules in so many aspects of existence, the utilization and bioactivity of C(sp3 )-H bonds are of the utmost importance. This review sheds light on the substrate scope, selectivity, benefits, and limitations of iron catalysts for direct C(sp3 )-H bond activations. An overview of the use of iron catalysis in C(sp3 )-H activation protocols is summarized herein up to 2022.

Abstract
A series of bifluorenylidene derivatives has been facilely synthesized via a palladium-catalyzed tandem multistep Suzuki cross-coupling and Heck cyclization in one pot. The tandem reaction involves two sequential Suzuki couplings and a subsequent Heck cyclization. The target products are obtained in good yields up to 94%. Even in an extended conjugated substrate, the anticipated products can be prepared.

Abstract
Herein, we introduce a photocatalyst- and additive-free method for the preparation of valuable 3,3-disubstituted oxindoles bearing trifluoromethyl alcohol moieties from readily available acrylamides and cheap trifluoropyruvates. The excited trifluoropyruvates under ultraviolet-light irradiation react efficiently with acrylamides delivering a variety of trifluoromethyl oxindoles with broad functional group tolerance and moderate to good yields. This protocol features mild reaction conditions, simple operation and ready scalability.

Abstract
For new ladder-type oligomers and polymers with versatile and robust synthetic strategies, in this study, four fully conjugated ladder-type overcrowded 9,9'-bifluorenylidene-based compounds and oligomers (BFY1, BFY2, BFY3, and BFY4) were synthesized via a Pd-catalyzed tandem Suzuki coupling/Heck cyclization reaction. By monomer screening and route optimization, the target products were obtained in high yields and characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and high resolution mass spectroscopy.

Abstract
Utilization of Freon-type methanes as functional one-carbon synthons in the synthesis of various deuterated indoline alkaloids was demonstrated here. A series of halomethyl radicals were generated from electro-reductive C-X cleavage of Freon-type methanes and captured efficiently by acrylamides to provide various halogenated oxindoles via radical cyclization. This reaction features good functional group tolerance, and deuterium and fluorine atoms could be introduced facilely from Freon-type methanes. Further transformation of halogenated oxindoles enabled the synthesis of many (labeled) bioactive drug molecules and skeletons, such as deuterated (±)-physostigmine, deuterated (±)-esermethole and deuterated (±)-lansai B.

Abstract
We report herein a cobalt-catalyzed 8-aminoquinoline-directed highly regio- and stereoselective C-H/N-H activation annulation of indole-2-carboxamides with 1,2-dihydronaphthalene for the synthesis of β-carboline-1-one derivatives at room temperature. A cheaper and commercially available cobalt catalyst has been used for this transformation. The protocol tolerates a wide range of functionalities, affording β-carboline-1-one derivatives in good yields. An initial mechanistic study revealed a reversible cyclometalation to be operative.

Abstract
A novel and green strategy for the synthesis of acylated quinazolinone derivatives via photo-induced decarboxylative cascade radical acylation/cyclization of quinazolinone bearing unactivated alkenes has been developed. The protocol provides a novel route to access acyl radicals from α-keto acids through a self-catalyzed energy transfer process. Most importantly, the reaction proceeded smoothly without any external photocatalyst, additive or oxidant, and could be easily scaled-up in flow conditions with sunlight irradiation.
