Abstract
With dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as the methylthio source, a KF-catalyzed strategy was employed for the direct thiomethylation of carboxylic acids with DMSO for the preparation of methyl thioesters. In this process, a wide range of methyl thioesters were obtained in moderate to excellent yields. This novel strategy features the first use of DMSO as a methylthiolating agent for the construction of methyl thioesters, transition metal-free conditions, inexpensive reagents, easy workup, broad substrate scope and sustainability. Additionally, this procedure can be readily scaled up to a gram scale.

Abstract
We present a novel approach for in situ generation of acyloxyphosphoniums by premixing iodobenzene dicarboxylates and triphenylphosphine, resulting in efficient thioester synthesis (up to 100% yield). Stable solid iodobenzene dicarboxylates, achieved via carboxylate exchange, serve as hypervalent iodine precursors. The resulting acyloxyphosphoniums allow convenient one-pot thioester synthesis under mild conditions. Our method demonstrates facile acyloxyphosphonium production from iodobenzene dicarboxylates and Ph3P, enabling diverse thioester preparation. ESI-MS analysis confirms acyloxyphosphonium ion formation, pivotal in acylation. This strategy holds potential for combinatorial thioester synthesis and broader nucleophile modification applications.

Abstract
An efficient and direct carbonylation of aminoquinoline benzamides has been developed using abundant and inexpensive Ni(OAc)2·4H2O as the catalyst and carbon monoxide as a cost-efficient C1 building block. This process features good functional-group tolerance and can be conducted on gram scale. The directing group can be easily removed under mild conditions.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed desulfonative carbonylation of thiosulfonates has been explored. Without any additive, a series of S-aryl/alkyl benzenesulfonothioates were successfully transformed to thioesters in moderate to excellent yields by SO2 extrusion and CO insertion under the pressure of 1 bar of CO. The solvent dimethylacetamide (DMAc) facilitated this desulfonative carbonylation due to its high absorbing ability of SO2.

Abstract
A straightforward and efficient synthesis of α,β-unsaturated thioesters has been developed via a nickel-catalyzed thiocarbonylation reaction of vinyl triflates with arylsulfonyl chlorides. With Mo(CO)6 as both CO source and reductant, a variety of α,β-unsaturated thioesters were obtained in moderate to good yields with very good functional group compatibility. It is noteworthy that the present method is the first example on nickel-catalyzed carbonylative synthesis of α,β-unsaturated thioesters by using arylsulfonyl chlorides as the coupling partner.

Abstract
A method to synthesize thioethers and thioesters directly from readily available sulfonyl chlorides is reported. We demonstrate that a transient intermediate formed during phosphine-mediated deoxygenation of sulfonyl chlorides can be trapped in situ by activated alcohols or carboxylic acids to effect carbon-sulfur bond formation. The method is operationally simple and tolerates a broad range of functional groups. Special attention has been focused on the late-stage diversification of densely functionalized natural products and pharmaceuticals.

Abstract
Rhodium-catalyzed regio- and enantioselective hydrothiolation of terminal allenes with thioacids is reported for the atom-economic synthesis of chiral branched allylic thioesters. By using a rhodium(I) catalyst system, diversities of terminal allenes and thioacids afforded the corresponding branched thioesters in excellent regioselectivity, high yield, and good enantioselectivity. This method was also explored for Fmoc-protected aminothioacids for diastereoselective synthesis of the corresponding thioesters.

Abstract
A novel ynamide-mediated thioester synthesis strategy was developed. Importantly, no detectable racemization was observed for the thioesterifications of carboxylic acids containing an α-chiral center, enabling it to be useful for the synthesis of peptide thioester, which is the key component of native chemical ligation. It is worth mentioning that amino acid side chain functional groups such as -OH and indole -NH are compatible with the reaction conditions, rendering their protection unnecessary. Moreover, this method was also amenable to selenoesters.

Abstract
A nickel-catalyzed, multicomponent regio- and enantioselective coupling via sequential hydroformylation and carbonylation from readily available starting materials has been developed. This modular multicomponent hydrofunctionalization strategy enables the straightforward reductive hydrocarbonylation of a broad range of unactivated alkenes to produce a wide variety of unsymmetrical dialkyl ketones bearing a functionalized α-stereocenter, including enantioenriched chiral α-aryl ketones and α-amino ketones. It uses chiral bisoxazoline as a ligand, silane as a reductant, chloroformate as a safe CO source, and a racemic secondary benzyl chloride or an N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHP) ester of a protected α-amino acid as the alkylation reagent. The benign nature of this process renders this method suitable for late-stage functionalization of complex molecules.

Abstract
A nickel-catalyzed one-pot carbonylation reaction of 2-bromobenzenesulfonyl chlorides with alkynes for the synthesis of thiochromenones has been established. Both terminal and internal alkynes were suitable substrates in this carbonylative transformation, and a broad range of 2-mono- and 2,3-disubstituted thiochromenone products were obtained in moderate to good yields with quite high functional group compatibility. Notably, this procedure presents the first example of nickel-catalyzed carbonylative synthesis of thiochromenones with 2-bromobenzenesulfonyl chlorides as a promising sulfur precursor.

Abstract
Herein, an interesting palladium-catalyzed procedure for the direct carbonylative thiomethylation of aromatic amine derivatives with 4-methylthio-2-butanone is developed. Using 4-methylthio-2-butanone as (methylthio) transfer agent, a variety of corresponding thioesters are obtained with moderate to good yields under base-free condition. In addition, good functional group tolerance can be observed.

Abstract
Aryl thioesters are synthesized via nickel-catalyzed carbonylation of thioacetates with aryl iodides. Alkyl thioacetates undergo coupling with carbon monoxide and aryl iodides to produce the desired aryl thioesters in moderate yields. This catalytic carbonylative coupling process provides a cost-effective and direct approach for the preparation of useful thioesters.

Abstract
The cross-electrophile coupling between unactivated alkyl bromides with arenesulfonyl cyanides catalyzed by Ni(acac)2 under reductive conditions to form unsymmetrical sulfides is developed. This approach for sulfide synthesis is practical, relies on available, unfunctionalized materials such as alkyl (pseudo)halides, and is scalable. This catalytic strategy provides a complementary method for the preparation of unsymmetrical alkyl-aryl sulfides under mild conditions with good functional group tolerance.

Abstract
A nickel-catalyzed reductive coupling of aryl triflates with thiocarbonates is reported here. Both electron-rich and -deficient aryl C(sp2)-O electrophiles as well as a class of O-tBu S-alkyl thiocarbonates are compatible with the optimized reaction conditions, as evidenced by 49 examples. The reaction also proceeds with good chemoselective cleavage of the C-O bond with regard to thioesters. This work broadens the scope of nickel-catalyzed reductive cross-electrophile coupling reactions.
