Abstract
The catalytic system generated in situ from the cationic Ru-H complex [(C6H6)(PCy3)(CO)RuH]+BF4- (1) with 2,3,4,5-tetrachloro-1,2-benzoquinone (L1) was found to be highly effective for promoting the deaminative coupling reaction of 2-aminoaryl aldehydes with branched amines to form 2-substituted quinoline products. The analogous deaminative coupling reaction of 2-aminoaryl ketones with branched amines led to the regioselective formation of 2,4-disubstituted quinoline products. A number of biologically active quinoline derivatives including graveolinine and a triplex DNA intercalator have been synthesized by using the catalytic method.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed [3 + 2] annulation of O-acyl oximes with 4-sulfonamidophenols is developed. The advantage of this method lies in the concurrent double activation of two substrates to form nucleophilic enamines and electrophilic quinone monoimines. The substituent on the α-carbon of O-acyl oxime determines two different reaction pathways, thereby leading to the selective generation of 5-sulfonamidoindoles and 2-amido-5-sulfonamidobenzofuran-3(2H)-ones.

Abstract
A domino aldol-SNAr-dehydration [3+3] annulation strategy has been utilized to fuse six-membered cyclic amides onto aromatic substrates. 2-Arylacetamides have been reacted with 2-fluorobenzaldehyde derivatives activated toward SNAr reaction by an electron-withdrawing substituent (NO2, CN, CF3, CO2Me) at C5 to prepare 3,6-disubstituted quinolin-2(1H)-ones. Additionally, 3-substituted 1,8-naphthyridin-2(1H)-ones have been similarly derived from 2-fluoronicotinaldehyde. Fifteen examples are reported, and two possible mechanistic scenarios are presented and discussed.

Abstract
A novel heavy metal-free and safe synthetic methodology enabling one-step conversion of ketones into corresponding 4,5,6,7-tetrafluorobenzofurans (F4 BFs) has been developed. The presented approach has numerous advantageous qualities, including utilization of readily available substrates, broad scope, scalability, and good reaction yields. Importantly, some of the benzofurans prepared by this method were heretofore inaccessible by any other known transformation. Importantly, furo[2,3-b]pyrazines and heretofore unexplored difuro[2,3-c:3',2'-e]pyridazine can be prepared using this strategy. Spectroscopic studies reveal that for simple systems, absorption and fluorescence maxima fall within the UV spectral range, while π-electron system expansion red-shifts both spectra. Moreover, the good fluorescence quantum yields observed in solution, up to 96 %, are also maintained in the solid state. Experimental results are supported by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The presented methodology, combined with the spectroscopic characteristics, suggest the possibility of using F4 BFs in the optoelectronic industry (i. e., organic light emitting devices (OLED), organic field-effect transistors (OFET), organic photovoltaics (OPV)) as inexpensive and readily available emissive or semiconductor materials.

Abstract
We have reported a metal-free protocol for the synthesis of indenoquinolinones and 2-substituted quinolines via [4 + 2] cycloaddition reaction using readily available 2-aminobenzaldehydes and ketones as starting materials. Different quinoline derivatives can be selectively synthesized by changing the type of ketones. O2 and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as co-oxidants play an important role in the synthesis of indenoquinolinones. This condensation/oxidation strategy involves the formation of C-N, C-C, and C-O bonds, with the advantages of high yields and a broad substrate range.

Abstract
An efficient, one-pot approach has been established for synthesizing a wide range of 3-amino-[1,2,4]-triazolo pyridines and related heterocycles from the electrochemically induced desulfurative cyclization of 2-hydrazinopyridines with isothiocyanates. The protocol allows for the formation of C-N bonds under simple conditions without transition metals or external oxidants. The practicability of this strategy is demonstrated by its broad substrate scope, good functional group compatibility, and gram-scale synthesis. The late-stage modification of 3-amino-[1,2,4]-triazolo pyridines enables us to obtain several molecules with potent anticancer activity.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed annulation of α,β-unsaturated O-acyl ketoximes with isoquinolinium N-ylides has been developed for the concise synthesis of stable N-H imines with a benzo[7,8]indolizine core. When β-(2-bromoaryl)-α,β-unsaturated O-acyl ketoximes are used as the starting materials, a cascade cyclization occurs to afford the benzo[7,8]indolizino[1,2-c]quinolines.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed bisannulation reaction of malonate-tethered O-acyl oximes with pyridine, pyrazine, pyridazine, and quinoline derivatives has been developed for the concise synthesis of structurally novel dihydroindolizine-fused pyrrolidinones and their analogues. The present reaction shows excellent regioselectivity and stereoselectivity. Theoretical calculations reveal that the coordination effect of the carbonyl group in the nucleophilic substrate determines the excellent regioselectivity. Further functionalization of the generated dihydroindolizine-fused pyrrolidinone could be easily realized through substitution, Michael addition, selective aminolysis, and hydrolysis reactions.

Abstract
An efficient iodine-imine synergistic promoted Povarov-type multicomponent reaction was reported for the synthesis of a practical 2,2'-biquinoline scaffold. The tandem annulation has reconciled iodination, Kornblum oxidation, and Povarov aromatization, where the methyl group of the methyl azaarenes represents uniquely reactive input in the Povarov reaction. This method has broad substrate scope and mild conditions. Furthermore, these 2,2'-biquinoline derivatives had been directly used as bidentate ligands in metal-catalyzed reactions.

Abstract
An electrochemical protocol for the construction of substituted isoindolinones via reduction/amidation of 2-carboxybenzaldehydes and amines has been realized. Under metal-free and external-reductant-free electrolytic conditions, the reaction achieves the cascade formation of intermolecular C-N bonds and provides a series of isoindolinones in moderate to good yields. The deuterium-labeling experiment proves that the hydrogen in the methylene of the product is mainly provided by H2O in the system.

Abstract
An unexpected annulation among 2-aminobenzyl alcohols, benzaldehydes, and DMSO to quinolines has been disclosed. For the reported annulation between 2-aminobenzyl alcohols and benzaldehydes, the change of the solvent from toluene to DMSO led to the change of the product from the diheteroatomic cyclic benzoxazines to monoheteroatomic cyclic quinolines. This annulation can be used to synthesize regioselectively different substituted quinolines by the choice of different 2-amino alcohols, aldehydes, and sulfoxides as substrates. Interestingly, introducing substituent groups to the α-position of sulfoxides resulted in the interchange of the positions between benzaldehydes and sulfoxides in the product quinolines. On the basis of the control experiments and literatures, a plausible mechanism for this annulation was proposed.
