Reversal of Enantioselectivity in the Copper-Aminophenol Sulfonamide Catalyzed Alkynylation of Isatins by Slightly Tuning the Ligand Structure and Basic Additives

Enantioselective Alkynylation of Pyrazole-4,5-diones with Terminal Alkynes Catalyzed by Copper/PyBisulidine

A copper/PyBisulidine-catalyzed enantioselective alkynylation of electrophilic pyrazole-4,5-dione with terminal alkynes has been developed. Chiral tertiary propargylic alcohols bearing the pyrazolone motif were prepared with yields (up to 99%) and enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee). The prominent feature of this protocol includes its mild reaction conditions and good stereoselectivities. The nonlinear effect study showed that the catalytically active specie was a monomeric catalyst and that the excess copper activated the alkynes through the π-system.

Enantioselective synthesis of 3-hydroxy- and 3-amino-3-alkynyl-2-oxindoles by the dimethylzinc-mediated addition of terminal alkynes to isatins and isatin-derived ketimines

A common protocol for enantioselective alkynylation of isatins and isatin-derived ketimines using terminal alkynes and Me2Zn in the presence of a catalytic amount of a chiral perhydro-1,3-benzoxazine with moderate to excellent enantioselectivity under mild reaction conditions is described. The additions to ketimines present a novel approach to chiral amines being derivatives of oxindoles. The reaction is broad in scope with respect to aryl- and alkyl-substituted terminal alkynes and isatin derivatives. In isatins, the alkynylation occurs at the Si face of the carbonyl group, whereas in the ketimine derivatives it occurs at the Re face of the imine.

Facile construction of dibenzodioxo[3.3.1]nonanes bearing spirocyclohexadienones via domino [4 + 2] cycloaddition/C(sp3)-H oxidative dehydrogenation coupling reactions

A novel palladium catalyzed homodimerization of ortho-hydroxyphenyl substituted p-QMs has been developed via [4 + 2] cycloaddition/oxidative dehydrogenation coupling domino reactions. An interesting palladium catalyzed intramolecular benzyl C-H oxidation dehydrogenation to form a transannular C(sp³)-O bond was found. This protocol provided an efficient method to construct various dibenzodioxo[3.3.1]nonanes bearing spirocyclohexadienones.
