Abstract
To further explore the relationship between aryl substituents and mechanofluorochromic (MFC) behaviors, four salicylaldimine-based difluoroboron complexes (ts-Ph BF2, ts-Ph-NA BF2, ts-2NA BF2, and ts-triphenylamine [TPA] BF2), including aromatic substituents with different steric hindrance effects, were designed and successfully synthesized. Four complexes with twisted molecular conformation displayed intramolecular charge transfer and aggregation-induced emission properties. Under external mechanical stimuli, the as-synthesized powders of ts-Ph BF2, ts-Ph-NA BF2, and ts-TPA BF2 exhibited redshift fluorescence emission behaviors, and ts-Ph BF2 and ts-TPA BF2 could be recovered to original shifts by fuming, but ts-Ph-NA BF2 displayed irreversible switching. ts-2NA BF2 had no change during the grinding and fuming processes. The results indicated that the MFC behaviors could be attributed to the phase transformation between the well-defined crystalline and disordered amorphous states by X-ray diffraction measurement. Further research illustrated that ts-TPA BF2 with the most significant MFC phenomenon could be applied in data security protection in ink-free rewritable paper.

Abstract
Borinic acids [R2B(OH)] and their chelate derivatives are a subclass of organoborane compounds used in cross-coupling reactions, catalysis, medicinal chemistry, polymer or optoelectronics materials. In this paper, we review the recent advances in the synthesis of diarylborinic acids and their four-coordinated analogs. The main strategies to build up borinic acids rely either on the addition of organometallic reagents to boranes (B(OR)3, BX3, aminoborane, arylboronic esters) or the reaction of triarylboranes with a ligand (diol, amino alcohol, etc.). After general practical considerations of borinic acids, an overview of the main synthetic methods, their scope and limitations is provided. We also discuss some mechanistic aspects.

Abstract
According to the assumption that the formation of C-Pd bond becomes a cyclopalladated complex (CPC), we designed and synthesized two C-N-N pincer ligands of BODIPY appended 2,2'-bipyridine derivatives (BP and BPB). It has been confirmed that the C-Pd bond does exist and plays a crucial role in "on-off" fluorescence behavior. Based on it, a coordination-induced fluorescence quenching sensor for Pd2+ was constructed. The results indicated that BP possessed high sensitivity and specificity for Pd2+ in solution. The limit of detection (LOD) of BP is determined to be 0.97 nM within a linear range between 1.0 and 50.0 nM, meanwhile, the platinum-group ions demonstrate no interference. The bio-imaging application of BP was investigated and it exhibited a promising vitro test for fluorescent imaging of Pd2+ ions in MCF-7 cells. Meanwhile, BPB coated sensor label for Pd2+ was set up. The visible color variation was displayed under UV light with increasing concentrations of Pd2+. Briefly speaking, fluorescence probes of BP and BPB offer new approaches for Pd2+ detection in a lab and on-site test, as well as the vivo imaging. Then, with the aid of (TD)DFT calculation, the internal reason for the optical difference between the two ligands was disclosed. This concept of CPC containing a Pd-C covalent bond provides a promising perspective of coordination fluorescence sensors.

Abstract
Organic cathode materials (OCMs) for rechargeable Li and Na batteries show great advantages in resource sustainability and huge potential in electrochemical performance but suffer from dissolution problems and costly synthesis. Herein, for the first time, we investigated the copolymer of benzoquinone (BQ) and pyrrole (Py), namely, poly(benzoquinone-pyrrole) (PBQPy), as an OCM for Li batteries. The low-cost raw materials and solvent-free synthesis provide PBQPy much brighter prospects in large-scale production compared to other carbonyl-based polymer cathode materials. Nevertheless, PBQPy showed one of the best electrochemical performances among all OCMs, including excellent energy density (2.32 V × 255 mAh g-1 = 592 Wh kg-1), rate capability (79%@2000 mA g-1), and cycling stability (81%@1000th cycle). By introducing poly(benzoquinone-methyl pyrrole) for comparison, as well as employing density functional theory calculations and various characterizations for in-depth understanding, the synthesis mechanism, polymer structure, electrochemical behavior, and redox mechanism were clearly clarified. It is believed that this work will encourage more efforts to develop cost-effective OCMs toward practical organic batteries.

Abstract
Perezone is a naturally occurring hydroxyquinone that has been deeply studied from different chemical aspects, such as therapeutics, electrochemistry, physical-chemical properties, or synthetic approaches that turn it an attractive template for new semisynthetic derivatives with a wide range of purposes. Herein, we describe a facile synthetic pathway to obtain new perezone derivatives by the addition of a pyrrole moiety that can be used for ion recognition. Compounds 2-4 showed the capability to interact with several anions and M2+ cations as separate events that result in colorimetric changes. Moreover, the compounds can behave as heteroditopic receptors. Besides, a previous interaction between fluoride ions and perezone derivatives triggered a successful recognition of M2+ ions, remarking Ni2+ as the most interesting phenomenon. These results project the compounds as potential colorimetric receptors for nickel ions in complex solutions.

Abstract
This study aims to perform the chelation of difluoroboron (BF2 ) to quinacridonequinone (QQ). The resulting dark green solid was determined to be QA-BF2 , which is a BF2 complex of 6,13-dihydroxyquinacridone (QA-OH), and not QQ-BF2 , which is a BF2 complex of QQ. This result indicated that QQ-BF2 was first generated as an O,O-bidentate chelate, which immediately underwent a two-electron reduction to produce QA-BF2 . This compound was converted to air-sensitive QA-OH by undergoing hydrolysis in argon. Since QA-OH has a strong electron-donating property, it easily produced QQ via air oxidation in the solution. QA-OH also acts as a reducing reagent for quinones. The crystal packing of QA-OH is a herringbone type with short π⋅⋅⋅π contacts, and a good hole mobility has been suggested by theoretical calculations. Herein, a new synthetic method from QQ to QA-OH using BF2 chelation and hydrolysis was proposed. QA-BF2 and QA-OH are useful organic functional pigments and reducing reagents.

Abstract
Access to a new class of oxazaborinines using an efficient transition-metal-catalyzed rearrangement is demonstrated. The method overcomes the synthetic challenge of achieving an aza-Claisen rearrangement of vinylogous N-allylic amide substrates, giving rise to a variety of highly modifiable oxazaborinine products. An investigation of the unique reactivity of these boron-based heterocycles has unveiled their underexplored potential as valuable building blocks and intermediates for organic synthesis.

Abstract
A series of 1,3-thiazole-based organoboron complexes has been designed and synthesized by acylation of 2-amino 4-subsituted 1,3-thiazoles with (4-dimethylamino)benzoyl chloride and the subsequent BF2 complexation reaction. The influence of substituents in position 4 of the thiazole ring on photophysical properties of the complexes has been investigated. Synthesized thiazolo[3,2-c][1,3,5,2]oxadiazaborinines mainly showed intensive fluorescence in solutions. Complex with a 4,5-unsubstituted thiazole unit demonstrated an aggregation induced emission (AIE) effect and a very high fluorescent quantum yield (94%) in the solid state because of the inhibition of π-π/π-n interactions in the molecular packing.
