Abstract
An efficient synthetic protocol for the selenylated cyclic isoureas was developed using electrochemical activation of diselenides. This sustainable approach permitted transition metal and chemical oxidant-free difunctionalization of olefins and overall access to distinct 1,2,3 triheterofunctionalized carbon skeletons. Excellent functional group tolerance was noticed, allowing the synthesis of a series of cyclic isourea derivatives. In addition, an acid-triggered skeletal isomerization facilitated the synthesis of cyclic urea derivatives from the corresponding cyclic isoureas. Mechanistic investigations, along with voltammetric studies, enabled the postulation of the reaction mechanism.

Abstract
We developed intramolecular carboxyamidations of alkyne-tethered O-acylhydroxamates followed by either thermally induced spontaneous or 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine-catalyzed O→O or O→N acyl group migration. Under iron-catalyzed conditions, the carboxyamidation products were generated in high yield from both Z-alkene and arene-tethered substrates. DFT calculations indicate that the iron-catalyzed carboxyamidation proceeds via a stepwise mechanism involving iron-imidyl radical cyclization followed by intramolecular acyloxy transfer from the iron center to the alkenyl radical center to furnish the cis-carboxyamidation product. Upon treatment with 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine, the Z-alkene-tethered carboxyamidation products underwent selective O→O acyl migration to generate 2-acyloxy-5-acyl pyrroles. Thermal O→N acyl migration occurs during carboxyamidation if the Z-alkene linker contains an alkyl or an aryl substituent at the β-position of the carbonyl group. On the other hand, the arene linker-containing compounds selectively undergo O→N acyl migration to generate N-acyl-3-acylisoindolinones, and the corresponding O→O acyl migration forming isoindole derivatives was not observed.

Abstract
The combination of photo and copper catalysts has emerged as a novel paradigm in organic catalysis, which provides access to the acceleration of chemical synthesis. Herein, we describe an aminoalkylation of amino-dependent olefins with maleimides through a cooperative photo/copper catalytic system. In this report, the strategy allows the generation of a broad complex of functionalized nitrogenous molecules including oxazolidinones, 2-pyrrolidones, imidazolidinones, thiazolidinones, pyridines, and piperidines in the absence of an external photosensitizer and base. The approach is achieved through a photoinduced Cu(I)/Cu(II)/Cu(III) complex species of nitrogen nucleophiles, intermolecular radical addition, and hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) processes. The plausible mechanism is investigated by a series of control experiments and theoretical tests, including radical scavenging experiments, deuterium labeling experiments, ultraviolet-visible absorption, and cyclic voltammetry (CV) tests.

Abstract
The cycloisomerization of alkyne-tethered N-benzoyloxycarbamates to 2-(3H)oxazolones is described. Two catalytic systems are tailored for intramolecular 5-exo-alkyne carboxyamidation and concomitant alkene isomerization. PtCl2 /CO (5 mol%, toluene, 100 °C) promotes both carboxyamidation and alkene isomerization but has a limited substrate scope. On the other hand, FeCl3 (5 mol%, CH3 CN, 100 °C) promotes carboxyamidation effectively but a cocatalyst is required for the exocyclic alkene isomerization. Thus, a two-step one-pot protocol has been developed for a broader reaction scope, which involves FeCl3 -catalyzed carboxyamidation and base-induced alkene isomerization. Crossover experiments suggest that these reactions proceed mainly through a mechanism involving acylnitrenoid intermediates rather than carbenoid intermediates.

Abstract
A complementary copper-catalyzed and electrochemical aminosulfonylation of O-homoallyl benzimidates and N-alkenyl amidines with sodium sulfinates was developed. The terminal alkene substrate produced sulfone-containing 1,3-oxazines and tetrahydropyrimidines in the presence of Cu(OAc)2, Ag2CO3, and DPP, and under similar reaction conditions, sulfonylated tetrahydro-1,3-oxazepines were prepared from 1-aryl-substituted O-homoallyl benzimidates in moderate to good yields. For certain electron-rich 1,1-diaryl-substituted alkene substrates, the corresponding tetrahydro-1,3-oxazepines could also be obtained in similar or even higher yields via a green electrochemical technique.

Abstract
Olefin 1,2-difunctionalization has emerged as a popular strategy within modern synthetic chemistry for the synthesis of vicinal amino alcohols and derivatives. The advantage of this approach is the single-step simplicity for rapid diversification, feedstock nature of the olefin starting materials, and the possible modularity of the components. Although there is a vast number of possible iterations of 1,2-olefin difunctionalization, 1,2-amino oxygenation is of particular interest due to the prevalence of both oxygen and nitrogen within pharmaceuticals, natural products, agrochemicals, and synthetic ligands. The Sharpless amino hydroxylation provided seminal results in this field and displayed the value in achieving methods of this nature. However, a vast number of new and novel methods have emerged in recent decades. This review provides a comprehensive review of modern advances in accomplishing 1,2-amino oxygenation of alkenes, 1,3-dienes, alkynes, and allenes that move beyond osmium to a range of other transition metals and more modern strategies such as electrochemical, photochemical, and biochemical reactivity.

Abstract
In organic synthesis, due to their high electrophilicity and leaving group properties, halogens play pivotal roles in the activation and structural derivations of organic compounds. Recently, cyclizations induced by halogen groups that allow the production of diverse targets and the structural reorganization of organic molecules have attracted significant attention from synthetic chemists. Electrophilic halogen atoms activate unsaturated and saturated hydrocarbon moieties by generating halonium intermediates, followed by the attack of carbon-containing, nitrogen-containing, oxygen-containing, and sulfur-containing nucleophiles to give highly functionalized carbocycles and heterocycles. New transformations of halogenated organic molecules that can control the formation and stereoselectivity of the products, according to the difference in the size and number of halogen atoms, have recently been discovered. These unique cyclizations may possibly be used as efficient synthetic strategies with future advances. In this review, innovative reactions controlled by halogen groups are discussed as a new concept in the field of organic synthesis.

Abstract
Metal-free N- and O-arylation reactions of pyridin-2-ones as ambident nucleophiles have been achieved with diaryliodonium salts on the basis of base-dependent chemoselectivity. In the presence of N,N-diethylaniline in fluorobenzene, pyridin-2-ones were very selectively converted to N-arylated products in high yields. On the other hand, the O-arylation reactions smoothly proceeded with the use of quinoline in chlorobenzene, leading to high yields and selectivities. In these methods, a variety of pyridin-2-ones in addition to pyridin-4-one and a set of diaryliodonium salts were accepted as suitable reaction partners.

Abstract
Guided by the transition-metal hydrogen atom transfer and radical-polar crossover concepts, we developed a functional-group-tolerant and scalable method for the synthesis of cyclic carbamates and ureas, which are found in the structures of bioactive compounds. This method provides not only a common five-membered ring but also six-to-eight-membered ring products. The reaction proceeds through the intramolecular displacement of an alkylcobalt(IV) intermediate and dealkylation by 2,4,6-collidine; the activation energies of these steps were calculated by DFT.

Abstract
An intramolecular Ir(III)-catalyzed regiodivergent oxyamination of unactivated alkenes provides valuable γ-lactams, γ-lactones and δ-lactams. The regioselectivity is controlled by the electronically tunable cyclopentadienyl Ir(III)-complexes enabling oxyamination via either 5-exo or 6-endo pathways. With respect to the mechanism, we propose a highly reactive [3.1.0] bicycle intermediate derived from Ir(V) nitrene-mediated aziridination to be a key intermediate toward the synthesis of γ-lactams.

Abstract
Chiral cyclic ureas (2-imidazolinones) were prepared by the reaction of nitrones and isocyanoacetate esters using a multicatalytic system that combines a bifunctional Brønsted base-squaramide organocatalyst and Ag+ as a Lewis acid. The reaction could be achieved with a range of nitrones derived from aryl- and cycloalkylaldehydes with moderate diastereo- and good enantioselectivity. A plausible mechanism involving an initial formal [3 + 3] cycloaddition of the nitrone and isocyanoacetate ester, followed by rearrangement to an aminoisocyanate and cyclization to the imidazolinone, is proposed.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed direct aminosulfonylation of unactivated alkenes with sodium sulfinates for the efficient synthesis of sulfonylated pyrrolidones is described. This reaction features good functional group tolerance and wide substrate scope, providing an efficient and straightforward protocol to access this kind of pyrrolidones. Moreover, preliminary mechanistic investigations disclosed that a free-radical pathway might be invovled in the process.

Abstract
Ureas of chiral diamines are prominent features of therapeutics, chiral auxiliaries, and intermediates in complex molecule synthesis. Although many methods for diamine synthesis are available, metal-free enantioselective alkene functionalizations to make protected 1,2- and 1,3-diamines from simple achiral starting materials are rare, and a single reagent that accesses a cross-section of each congener with high enantiomeric excess is not available. We describe a method to synthesize enantioenriched cyclic 5- and 6-membered ureas from allylic amines and an isocyanate using a C2-symmetric BisAmidine (BAM) catalyst that delivers N-selectivity from an ambident sulfonyl imide intermediate, overcoming electronic and steric deactivation at nitrogen. The geometry of 1,2-disubstituted alkenes is correlated to 5-exo and 6-endo cyclizations without altering alkene face selectivity, which is unexpectedly opposite that observed with O-nucleophiles. Straightforward product manipulations to diamine and imidazolidinone derivatives are underscored by the synthesis of an NK1 antagonist.

Abstract
The synthesis of unsaturated, unprotected imidazolidinones via an aza-Heck reaction is described. This palladium-catalyzed process allows for the cyclization of N-phenoxy ureas onto pendant alkenes. The reaction has broad functional group tolerance, can be applied to complex ring topologies, and can be used to directly prepare mono- and bis-unprotected imidazolidinones. By addition of Bu4 NI, dihydroimidazolones can be accessed from the same starting materials. Improved conditions for preparing unsaturated, unprotected lactams are also reported.

Abstract
Facile intramolecular amination of unactivated alkenes has been achieved by using electricity as a catalyst that helps to generate an intermediate and accelerates formation of cyclic ureas in high yields. Using this method, no metal catalysts were used. During electrolysis, a nitrogen radical was formed at the urea substrate that cyclised with the alkene and generated a terminal carbon radical which further formed a bond with the 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-N-oxyl radical (TEMPO). This method of electrolysis not only gives cyclic ureas but also functionalises terminal unactivated alkenes. This method can be considered to be environmentally friendly given that it avoids the issues of toxicity or complicated metal ligands and could therefore be potentially employed in green chemistry.

Abstract
An efficient and step-economical copper-mediated intra-/intermolecular aminoacyloxylation of β,γ-unsaturated hydrazones has been developed. Copper carboxylates serve as both reaction promoters and carboxylate sources in these easily conducted reactions. This method provides straightforward access to diversely useful acyloxyl pyrazolines, which are hard to access traditionally, in good to excellent yields.

Abstract
Aryl sulfonyl isocyanates are important intermediates in organic synthesis. They are used as electrophilic reagents and easily react with nucleophiles to form amides, sulfonyl ureas, pyrrolidine derivatives, lactams, oxazolidinones, and so on. Although there are some reviews on the applications of isocyanates in chemistry, few are concerned about aryl sulfonyl isocyanates. This review focuses on recent advances related to aryl sulfonyl isocyanates in organic synthesis, mainly including three special characteristics. The mechanisms of the typical reactions are also discussed.

Abstract
O,ω-Unsaturated N-tosyl alkoxyamines undergo unexpected RhIII -catalyzed intramolecular cyclization by oxyamination to produce oxygen-containing heterocycles. Mechanistic studies show that an aziridine intermediate seems to be responsible for the formation of the heterocycles, possibly via a RhV species.

Abstract
Difunctionalization of alkenes has become a powerful tool for quickly increasing molecular complexity in synthesis. Despite significant progress in the area of alkene difunctionalization involving the incorporation of a nitrogen atom across the C-C double bonds, approaches for the direct 1,2-carboamination of alkenes to produce linear N-containing molecules are scarce and remain a formidable challenge. Here we describe a radical-mediated oxidative intermolecular 1,2-alkylamination of alkenes with alkyl nitriles and amines involving C(sp3)-H oxidative functionalization catalysed by a combination of Ag2CO3 with iron Lewis acids. This three-component alkene 1,2-alkylamination method is initiated by the C(sp3)-H oxidative radical functionalization, which enables one-step formation of two new chemical bonds, a C-C bond and a C-N bond, to selectively produce γ-amino alkyl nitriles.
